Never seen so many models suffer on landings, seams these guys just don,t like having any undercarriage, those that have u/c on approach get knocked off thats if they don't knock them off on take off, then to top it off they dont even get the u/c to come down and just belly flop in...... Shame there was some nice models flown... I just wish I was the owner of the local model shop he/she would have been rubbing there hands witht he prospect sales
Short aproach perhaps? They all seem to turn onto final and have to descend quickly which does not seem to allow them to bleed off the speed hence the baloon intsead of the flair.
Short approach is definatly harder with those warbirds since they dont usualy glide the best.
ya they are toys, they only cost about 1,700 dollars to build, and require some one with flying experience of more than 6 years, but you can call them toys you ingnorant fuck
I was at the event this year ('09). I think most of these guys have more money than skill. I saw a lot of crashes on landing that should've been easily recoverable.
I fly a Ziroli P-47 and they are the worst damn planes to land. Their wing loading/weight ratio makes for a very intersting landings. I have flown a few Warbirds and Thunderbolts are the biggest handfull of them all :0)
I know nothing about flying RC planes, but from the videos I've seen the thunderbolts are always front heavy, looks like they would be a bear. And all those Ziroli planes look cool as hell.
landing speed depends on your plane. The higher the wingloading the more speed you will need. Better come in fast in the beginning and slowly reduce the speed for the next landings to get a feeling for the right speed
some great saves ... and unfortunate stalls - fantastic looking models all around ... I wonder if the jet belly landing was intensional or if his gear failed to deploy ...
the landing was intentional after the pilot noticed that the gear failed to deploy. Better do a flat belly landing than a very risky landing on just 2 wheels
Makes sense ... great save then, thanks for the response. Wow - what's with all the negative comments on these types of vids? Clearly, most people have never flown R/C and have no idea what piloting one of these birds is like ... that or they assume that because of a mishap that it MUST be pilot error - frustrating as that is, my hats off to all pilots in your video - thanks for sharing!
So much money and time spent on these models and not a clue how to land!!! Doesn't make sense!?? Approaches too fast and too jittery on pitch control, how about dialling in some expo?
at the end ,the german aircraft its a damn rare one...Only 38 was build, called Blohm und Voss BV-141 nice model. Rare person know about this aircraft and saw this one flew during the WW2.
Man, me and my ParkZone T-28 could outfly all those chumps wait till I get my EDF unit for my ParkZone Cub it is gonna be badass and then I'll be an astronaut. I rock.

Old men and their planes woop te do. The truth is these same guys are abusive bullys and cowards and all across America. Im glad that strict noise laws are closing down most clubs known with "big gassers". These old farts are so incredibly abusive that their own grown kids will have nothing to do with them.
was there like alot of wind or something? most of the crashes were really immature. for example the p47 pulling up at landing speed and stalling. Even I could do better than that. last crash was sad
@1:50 the P-47 guy finally got what was coming to him for trying to land the Jug too slow.

I don't feel so bad after watching these most if not all pilot error.

Why does the p-47 nose dive when landing??
7bikerboy7 1 year ago
That last one shows how unpredicatable flying is.
The approach and landing looked perfect, until it hit a bump.

I think some of these guys need to get the trainer back out from the garage haha

im only a begginer but when approaching, how much throttle should i use or should i guess looking at the speed of the plane?

Looks like the T-bolt drivers were having a bad day.
Still trying to figure out what happened to that FW recon plane, looked like

If you can afford and make a plane that nice why can't you land it. GREAT video though, nice emergency landing by the guy with the jet.

Jimderkaisser 3 years ago
Using elevator instead of throttle to extend your glide is a big mistake. P-47 guys need to get a trainer and practice more.
