The video in the led samsung looks great but how long will the product last 3 to 5 years ? After that is it servicable or is it just use and throw.Since the panel is so thin i doubt wheather one could solder or service the board,i.e if the I.C board gets dry soldering due to coastal humidity !
@paulchiu ,Thanks for the info & your time.In that case i must wait for few more years to buy the LED Tv.SInce if its not repairable then the coast should also be less..
Since i want one to place it my house visitors hall, where we meet our guest. So naturally the size that i want to buy is 46 inches and above.
There are so many good TV's out now to me its between the Samsung 46" b6000 or the LG 47" LED SL90 for my bedroom I have to wait 1 more month to have enough saved up 8'( because they are both $1500 $_$ how is the screen uniformity is there any backlight issues?
sony gets its lcds from 50-50 joint venture with samsung........50-50 means 50-50 production, manufacturing and overall 50-50 , 50% belongs to sony...........so they are not using samsung's lcds, both of them use same lcds produced by S-LCD(Sony 50% - Samsung 50%) joint venture
man i just ordered the 55" un8500 at a discount price! can't wait till it arrives my door steps. i almost ended up buying the sony xbr8 55" model. luckly that 8500 samsung popped up as 1 in stock. anyhow the top three hdtvs are the plasma pioneer kuro elite fd111 meaning 50" or fd151 60", the samsung lcd led 8500 and the sony bravia lcd led xbr8. kuro will be my next purchase know that they're discounted.
i picked the samsung un46b8000 because i read more good reviews than bad ones.
but most importantly, i saw the set right next to the top sony bravia at best buy and pc richards stores.
with 1080p material from bluray and PS3, the video looks smooth, rich and grainless. better than what i remember from seeing the same movie in the theater. with 720p or 480i sources like old DVD as well as SD tv broadcast, the sony bravia top line have an edge.
AMAZING TV! thanks for your videos man! My dad really wants to get one of these when we redo our living room setup. We are looking at getting a 55" one to watch blu ray movies on and stuff. I might post a video of my setup when we get it all redone... though i don't think it will be until around december or so.
it will do fantastic with good to even modest light.
i used the sony pmw-ex1 for the above video in near darkness with just the light from the Samsung.
there are other choices between the Sony pmw-ex1 and the canon vx40. one is the great canon D-slr, the EOS 5D mark 2 with 21mp stills and full 1080p at 30 hz. it's amazing.
set mode to Movie for all sources backlight 1 contrast 95 to 100 brightness 50 sharpness 20 color 50 tint G50/R50 advanced black tone: off dynamic contrast off gamma 0 color space auto white balance leave alone flesh tone 0 edge enhancement off
amazing demo and you have a sick camera, i just picked up the UN46B6000 and want to make a video similar to yours but with my PS3 playing games, any good tips for a good camera?
in order to film a screen playing really fast images like those in video games, you'll need a camera that allows you to adjust the frequency of the shutter. look for one with adjustable shutter from 24p through 30p to 60i and 60p. i'll post you a personal message with more details.
what parts do you use in your computer mines has i7 920 ,GTX 260, 6GB RAM,10000rpm 300GB HDD, and 650w PSU could i supposrt that screen?? i dont over clock even tho i probly would beable to do it safley
i drive the samsung using the macbook pro's Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT card. the macbook pro itself has 8gb RAM and a 500gb Seagate 7200rpm drive. this can drive both the notebook's 1920x1200 screen as well as the samsung's 1920x1080 screen up to 1080p at 60 hz. no issues with speed with the nvidia cards driving the samsung
my windows notebook driving the samsung is a Dell XPS M1710 with blu-ray burner with 4gb RAM and similar hard drive. this too drives the samsung with no issues up to 1080p at 60hz progressive. no problems with fast motion of 64 bits work in Premier or Photoshop
the samsung un 46b8000 we got is assembled in Mexico so it's somewhat closer to the US
i read from places that with plasma and LED/LCD sets, rough handling can be the reason for most brightness problems. so, having the set QA when they assemble the unit in Mexico is perhaps better than having the unit shipped from china, korea or japan.
nit picking here.
the biggest problem with buying overseas is the warranty. i hear that samsung techs goes to your home if there is a problem. if it's USA
i tried putting samples of dark subjects to demonstrate for the edge brightness that have been reported on the web.
also, please all remember this.
although the Sony PMW-EX1 is broadcast grade camera, at 6 feet to the screen, i cannot get rid of the curvature problem, so it is not the Samsung that is curve, it is the SONY's wide angle lens.
sorry all, my office is not big enough to use a tele lens.

white skies will have a bit of shadowing on top edge.
no issues otherwise, especially with blacks.
this is pretty much standard now on all LCD sets, edge or non edge LED/LCD.

What is this edge brightness issue that people are talking about. I can't see anything here but is it there?

remember how notebooks used to have edge that have bright spots?
that's how the bad LCD HDTVs used to be.
i filmed this to show the edge of the samsung.
