Both in the original and in TA, Ironhide was definately red,which I think he was going for the nostalgia worth in this one given that most people watching the movies had no fucking clue on which autobots were shich except Prime and Bee which are almost always associated with their colors no matter which version they are. (Though Prime in TA was in fact a firetruck and not a long hauler)

other than Starscream and possiblely Megaton, almost every single other transformer was

unrecognizable in the movies, autobot or decepticon.

Not to mention that a lot of others were left out, like Huffer, Thundercracker and Skywarp, Brawn, etc. Not even the dinobots and insecticons made it to the movies thus far and they are probably the most popular among the g1 generation.
