Oh my goodness, what a slap in the face to all the soldiers and their families. This video is so anti-military it's ridiculous. As much as I would like to live in a world where there aren't any wars, the truth of it is, is that we do. People are volunteering to help their country when they sign up for the military and they put their lives on the line for the citizens of that country.
It's not for everyone I understand, but don't bash the people who are courgeous enough to step up and do what
Of course there are alternatives to the military, but that doesn't make the military less of an option. Some people don't understand anything but the barrel of a gun, which is awful, but it's true. Were it not, we wouldn't ever need police or physical intervention of any kind.
I've wrestled with this for a long time and, due to events in my life, I must say that appropriate use of force can be better than no force at all.

I don't think that young man understands what it is like in the big bad world. By his logic Police Officers and Firefighters are "crazy" because they carry on with their task when they feel like curling up in a ball and crying. Also, Canadian infantry soldiers peacekeep.....with a gun. Sometime to opposing sides in a conflict relish killing each other and won't stop because the UN asks nicely. Canadian soldiers shot snipers who were targeting civilians in Sarajevo... "what would you do"?
I see that you are against militarism, but more importantly...what are you for? What realistic alternatives do you offer? It seems to me that you are merely offering what you claim to be a problem, but with no claim of any considerabe experience, not to mention a treatment for the said problem which you claim to point out. Lets try to take an approach more based on fact rather than irrelevant and unproductive rhetoric. But this probably falls on deaf ears.
And I would hope if one comes across two kids fighting over a chocolate bar, the kids are taught a lesson to share, a win-win solution, as opposed to "take it away from them by force" in which case everyone loses.

You don't want to take orders, drill, or stand up for those who can't stand for themselves, then DON'T JOIN THE MILITARY. But don't turn around and bitch about a military you know nothing about, and have never experienced and are quite jaded about, all while sitting from the comfort of your Lay-Z-Boy eating your fruit cups and Kraft Dinner. We are doing MUCH more than combat in Afghanistan, but the video makes no mention of that. It also makes no mention of the fact that if we left, the entire infrastructure of the country would be destroyed. War isn't nice, but to say it is NEVER necessary, and has NEVER BEEN necessary, is basically denying human history and disgracing those who fought 60 years ago for our way of life.
