This was typical of every team led by Steve Alfraud. He was a terrible coach that loved to pat himself on the back when Iowa won and threw his players and assistants under the bus if they lost. If anything, they were given a lower seed than they really deserved. Under Dr. Tom Davis, Iowa made the tournament practically every year and were in the Final Four back in 1980. When the NCAA selections are made, the AD of a particular school is asked to step out of the room while discussing that school. You're a dipshit

The way Coach McConathy likes to run his teams is run and gun, cycling in fresh players every couple minutes and make runs at the end of each half...that year it worked to perfection. We also won at Miss St. and one other big school i cant remember. I really thought we could win the gm. The 2nd round against W. Virginia was probably the worst gm we played all yr and we were still in it at the end. Oh yeah, we are back in the SLC Championship this yr. The gm is Sun at noon on espn 2. Go Demons!
You guys also had a game in Hawaii (I think) against Iowa State. The officials didn't count one of your team's free throws, and didn't notice it until later in the game when it was too late to correct that error. The game eventually went into OT with Northwestern St. losing.

Haluska did everything he could to defend that shot, it was just an amazing shot. As much as watching that shot kills me, that is what march madness is all about. Cant wait for this years tourney

I remember getting this upset right on the only bracket I did that year (for facebook). This team played a very close game at Wichita St. last year (coincidentally, Wichita St. was wearing gold and NW St. was wearing purple).

what was also amazing iowa jumped out to a good lead and i believe this is the only time that northwestern st takes the lead i could be wrong. Amazing game
