basically meaning one's word is one's bond, meaning they can be trusted to be honest when one says something. Ex: "that dude that lives on your block got robbed?" "word is bond."
i just googled it to make sure of it... and yeah, black star dropped a while before stillmatic... i still think nas is tight though, i just think def and talib are a few notches above him lyrically
i think it's cool that both of you reacted to each other in a mature way. if this was another artist or group's video then i'm sure someone would have dropped some profanity. i seriously believe that this genre of music affects its listeners,
based on the views and the ammount of comments this is in my opinion the best underappreciated video on youtube, great episode choice and this song is lyrical poetry. I love cowboy bebop, mos def, and talib kweli, all in one video is just genius. 5 stars and im subscribing to your channel keep up the good work.
What an amazing song. It's a profound expression of emotions, experiences, and observations using thoughtful and original lyrics through the medium of "hip hop". How this relates to cowboy bepop other than having the title theives in the night is a difficult stretch. No matter, the quality is better than the only other video on youtube featuring this song.
Love this track so much. Would have liked to see some more Viscous in this video. It gives the feel of being quickly assembled, but it's OK.

shows how much you people know about the streets, the sentence wasn't created from hip hop you fools, its fucking slang.
BigDawgKiko 2 years ago
word is bond was used since fucking forever, there is no originator.
BigDawgKiko 2 years ago
yo are you guys talking about the line "word is bone" ? cause if so that was used on illmatic wich droped before black star
illskill16 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
``name a rapper that i aint influenced`` - Nas
thats so true black star says this
``your arms too short to box with god`` which was from nas`s song
which proves it

Blackstar's music makes up for all the generic bull shit that's played on the radio today. May Talib and Mos be able to rhyme forever.
