Even though Benji Marshall have won the NRL World trophy in 2008 making him a world class player. There are very few and rare players in both Rugby league and union play as good as Benji Marshall.

@hidesnuki unions defense only looks better because the players only have to line up at the back of the ruck, where as attacking teams in league have 10 metres to move the ball round and set plays up. kurtley beales footwork is good, but benji's is superb, when he decideds to step you won't touch him

I've played both & they're two different kinds of fitness games. Aerobic in rugby & anaerobic in league. For forwards you need way more stamina & strength in rugby cos you're always on the move & and at the breaks you need all your strength in a scrum or to lift in a lineout. In league is explosive power & you can have a breather on defence or in the scrum. But I still prefer League. Chasing kicks in rugby fkng sucks

rugby union you have to follow the ball as a forward where ever it goes,
League you just stay in the line, 1 or 2 hit ups, a dummy run then rest and recover until its time for def, which is much easier to do for big forwards (140kg myself)

Lomu was a league player until he was about 17 then he switched to union. That's why his skill and athletic ability was so much higher than other union players.

Focus on scrums sucks. This means that you need to employ big useless dudes, whom invariably have no football skills, who spend a huge time on boring scrum "skills" on and off the field. The same can be said for lineouts, employing tall useless dudes to jump.
This is only a couple of reasons why Rugby Union sucketh, and Rugby League is king.

I've played both & they're two different kinds of fitness games. Aerobic in rugby & anaerobic in league. For forwards you need way more stamina & strength in rugby cos you're always on the move & and at the breaks you need all your strength in a scrum or to lift in a lineout. In league is explosive power & you can have a breather on defence or in the scrum. But I still prefer League. Chasing kicks in rugby fkng sucks

More to the point is there anything more gay than a rugby league scrum? I think not. As for being overweight, well props do carry a bit of fat but they are exponentially fitter and stronger than you're average 130kg man or league player.

@tomhigton ha you are so deluded its unreal. fitness better in union dont make me laugh. thats why gareth thomas who recently switched to league said himself the league guys are much fitter. oh and he got knocked out in his first game i think his first run! union players spend half their time standing around, league you have to get up an get back ten every tackle.
I watched a recent union international and not one try was scored, the game was won on kicks, thats not rugby.

@tomhigton yes i do. they are very quick making it so they get on with the game playing rugby rather than falling over in a big pile on forcing the referee to restart it a dozen times. eventually they will probably get erased from the game. and i think the kettle is calling the pot black there, the way the ball is repeatedly kicked back and forth in rugby onion gets more than a tad repetitive, dont ya think?

rugby union you have to follow the ball as a forward where ever it goes,
League you just stay in the line, 1 or 2 hit ups, a dummy run then rest and recover until its time for def, which is much easier to do for big forwards (140kg myself)

@nrlstar ummm... you can't rest while pushing in a scrum or ruck and if you're not in a ruck you're probably running to the next one. Apart from stoppages you don't get a rest.

yeah true i play rugby union and the scrums you actually have to try in them as appose to just standing there.Also in union it is a constant contest for the ball; when a person gets tackeled they dont just stand up and play the ball and waste 7 sec they actually get down and fight for the ball.
Dont say fuck union cause union players usually do bigger hit ups than league players and union is a ore physicall game.

if union is so good how come the first mention they get in the paper is 12 pages from the back page, and their ratings are getting beaten by sbs programming. Rugby union may have a contested scrum but that doesnt mean watching it isnt boring as hell, getting exited about a scrum seems disturbing. Union will never create players like slater, hayne, inglis, benji, thurston, folau, fui fui moi moi etc. btw the longest hit up a union forward will take is around the 3metres mark

Lomu was a league player until he was about 17 then he switched to union. That's why his skill and athletic ability was so much higher than other union players.

@jk94111 maybe because australians just suck a union...always losing to SA and NZ nobody wants read how their country sucks, and AUS is like the only place that cares about league, 20 minutes of union takes as much out of you as league believe me i kno. union requires a far wider range of skill, league is better than soccer, american football and baseball and cricket by far!!! its a great game but you neeed a bigger set of skills to be a good union player than a league player that is for sure!!

Focus on scrums sucks. This means that you need to employ big useless dudes, whom invariably have no football skills, who spend a huge time on boring scrum "skills" on and off the field. The same can be said for lineouts, employing tall useless dudes to jump.
This is only a couple of reasons why Rugby Union sucketh, and Rugby League is king.
