chamber orchestras could do fine without a conductor... a 10 musician max. group, with good musicians, could deal with each other ok... but up from that number starts getting complicated... and a big orchestras needs a conductor for sure, or at least could get a lot of help with one.

many chamber orchestras do. often a conductor can be a hindrence to togetherness and personality. but not for this piece.

Je connaissais cet air sans même en savoir le titre ni que c'était de Berlioz . je suis vraiment d'une ignorance crasse. Ma seule culture en Grande Musique, que j'aime au demeurant, est liée à la radio .. je ne me suis jamais donné la peine d'approfondir .. il faut que je rattrape ce retard ..
