  • oh my god. ive been here before but this looks CRAZY

  • Alright, lemme clarify...I love it too, but I have seen plenty of trash floating in the water and it seems to be muddy 3 out of 4 times I go. But it can be clear, and after a flood like this the trash might be gone - so wait until then for swimming :)

  • I love this place...theres nothing nasty about turtleback falls. Slide, swim, it kicks ass.

  • About 2 hours' drive depending on traffic. And I just don't recommend swimming in Turtleback. Not just because Rainbow is just downstream and people get washed over it and die every year, but because the water tends to be nasty. But honestly, during normal flow the risk is minimal for getting sent downstream...worse for getting caught under the falls or hitting your head on the way down. It's just not my favorite swimming hole.

  • About how far a drive from Asheville? And do you have to be a great swimmer during low water times to enjoy Turtleback without fear of being swept down stream?

  • You are nuts

  • wow i was just there today and jumped the cliff, just amazing
