  • Duuuude, you are the MAAAAAN! However, it looks like your drumming gives me more joy than it does you.[robot voice] RRRobot drummer :/ Just kidding bro. But seriously, if you were more animated and made your drumming look as tough as it actually is, you could pull more fans (aka poon). But no worries, you going for the silky approach, i get it. Anyway, you're awesome and I wish I was 1/100th the drummer you are!

  • You should more Dave Matthews

  • I find myself coming back to this video again and again. I love Dave Matthews and I love your drumming. What an awesome combo! Keep on rockin'! :D

  • when you record your drums, do you monitor yourself from the microphones?

  • That was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!! I loved it !

  • how did you cut the drums from the audio track?

  • @JammingJeff It was an acoustic guitar version....8)

  • Damn man

  • your kit sounds FANTASTIC in this video. Jealousy.

  • Outstanding once again!

  • damn dude you like some awesome music dmb, tool, faith no more!! fucking great

  • You're Amazing And you like Dave Matthews,

    What's not to like?

    Keep up the great work!

  • soooooo goood !!

    and its "so damn lucky"

  • ..Ooh, Sorry Mate.

Could Youu Possibly Do It With That Snare Please?

I Wanna Try And Get My Hands On One Haha =P

    'tis a Beauty =P

    Thanx Again Man =D

    All The Best x

  • Hey Man =)

Dood.. Youu Are a ''MAJOR'' Inspiration To Me. Your Playing Is Insayne, And Your a Dedicated Man, You Are Incredible =D

I Was Wondering If Youu Could Maybe Post a Vid Of Your Kit Without Mic's?

Would That Be OK Man :)

    ThanQ =D

  • which snare do you play?

  • In this video I use my Mapex Black Panther 10x5.5 Maple snare.

  • beautiful!! ;)

  • Did you buy your hi hats and your ride cymbal new? Because I'm saving up money to get the same ones and am trying to get a good deal on them used, but can't seem to find them for a good price. Where did you get them and if you don't mind me asking, how much were they? Thanks

  • Man I haven't bought a new Paiste(or any) cymbal in over 5 years, I could'nt even begin to tell you where to find them at a good price...although I would reccomend new cymbals becuase of the warranty. try massmusic. net, I have bought a lot of items from them(including my Mapex BP snares) and they have always had fantastic prices/service.

  • So damn lucky haha!!!

  • your toms sound ridiculosly good. wat do you have them tuned to?

  • Nice! Big fan of yours. Though too much gate on the snare and would be nice to hear more of your ride work, IMHO. Toms were sweet.

  • hi this is austin

  • Please tell me how you got your set to sound so good!

  • I'd love to know as well! What do you use? what kind of mics and program ? I love your snare and toms. help me out !

  • ok matter....this is one of the greatest covers ive ever witnessed in my life. well just because its way better than carter beufords version of so damn lucky and the thought that uve nevr heard this track before and you played it with so much musicallity. i mean ever single fill was perfect and everything felt so good. when i try to play along with this track its really hard because its live and the tempo is going everwhere so dude good for u u are a beast and

  • dude that ride is sexy, not gonna lie i want its nuts.

  • ei matter what your drums? . . . fantastic sound... very clear... :) nice

  • Mapex Orion Classics

  • hey man good drumming. cool stuff

whats your inspiration/reason for a coated head on the 10 in. tom and clear on the rest?

  • The small tom is actually a DW 8" steel piccalo tom. I use a coated head to give it a bit of a warmer sound to blend in with the maple toms.

  • which kind of china is that?

  • Paiste 18" 2002 nova china to my left, Paiste 18" Dimensions(discontinued) Thin China on my right.

  • Just 'cause you have "(Band?)" in the title, thought I'd mention that I believe it's just Tim Reynolds and Dave playing, not the actual band,as well. Though from listening ,mate, I'd say Carter was actually there drumming for them. Absolutely fantastic drum work.

    Cheers.

  • your drums sound amazing, what type of audio equipt do you use? what kind of mics? I love the snare,is that a Popcorn snare like Pearl makes?

  • I've seen this vid before, and it just doesn't get old. Totally awesome.

  • hey matter can u check out my newest drum solo, im 15 and i have a home studio with my mics hooked up but i dont have them sounding anywhere as good as u do....could u give me some pointers

  • This is Dave Matthews and Tim Renynolds Live at Radio City music hall, The song is " So Damn Lucky".

  • really awesome man. DMB drummer is really sick you did a good job. the drum tones are a big highlight as well..

    matter 311 - Why dont you do a post a 311 cover?

  • What kind of tom heads do you have here?

  • Evans EC2 clear on batter, Remo AMB's on reso

  • Nice dude, it would be awesome if you put up more dave songs! Loving the Tool aswell!

  • ahhh i really like this.

i love how its just an effortless jam to the song and i freakin love that snare. wat is it???

  • effortless, and tastey

  • I've watched all your videos. You're fucking awesome. I wish I had your kit. And skillz. :(

    :)

  • man, your great! simply great, i always wait to see more of your videos, you surprised me a lot with the tool covers.. you have very good taste in music and you know which songs are good challenges for you!, and you make it look so easier.. fuck..i run to practice a lot when i see your vids...lol.. regards from a bolivien friend ...and thanks for keeping posting stuff...

  • haha.. i thoought ur vid was messed up...cus i heard nuthing..then i was like..wait a minute...and soo i fast fowarded...and bam! lol...awesome band....great cover!!!!

  • i just saw them a couple weeks ago...nd their drummer plays the open handed technique... it perty saweet!! they rock!

  • and btw, u would maker Carter proud

  • ah shux.

  • was a total shame what happened to the his saxophonist. hope it has no affect on the bad in the long run, but to change the subject: man, i've watched thousands of drum vids on here and i'd have to say no. 1: your drums by far sound the best of anyone. nice crisp and clear. no. 2: your playing style is some of the most effortless dynamic i've seen. no. 3: you vid viewing quality is really clear as well. keep it up bro. i could listen to this all day

  • what did he die? im not a fan of this band so i dont know what happened.

    ON TOPIC: Nice drum-o-long

  • yeah LeRoi Moore died couple days ago from complications from a June(i think) ATV accident. he was one of the original founders of DMB

  • Thank you.

  • Sounds good! could you enlighten me as to what china that is?

  • The china on my right is a Paiste Dimensions 18" Thin China, the one on the left is a Paiste 2002 18" Nova China

  • Are you still using paragon cymbals?

Because some of those crashes look like paiste sig's to me.

    Awesome drumming, really cool.

  • This is my Paiste set up, still have the Paragons though.

  • lole it dude, as always. we have similar taste in music.

    ;p

  • It's from Dave Matthew's solo album "Some Devil", song called "So Damn Lucky". Not a bad tune, but I like the studio version better.

  • Awesome work as always! :D

  • I had never heard this song either until I watched this video but man that was brilliant! You are seriously one of the most talented people I'm subscribed too. I enjoy watching your stuff so much. Yes true, it was quite different from carters fills but hey it was an amazing improv none the less! loved it!

  • Fucking cool Matter,Matthews is brilliant & this is a song off his solo record without Beauford's killer drum work.Really like what you did with it,especially with the displaced snare & shit.I'm working on that "Vicarious", it shouldn't be too long before I'm done...Peace bro-

  • Great job man, I've never heard this song, it sounded really good.

  • Nice job. Big difference from Tool. Dave Matthews is great though. Sad what happened to their sax player. :(

  • Song is called "So Damn Lucky" off the Some Devil Record. (dave matthews)

  • Nice playing man. IMHO the drumming is kinda to rock sounding for the music but it was good drumming non the less

  • nice

  • wow. your snare sounds great!!!!!

  • nice !!!! ur snare sounds amazing.. what is it?

  • Mapex BP 10" Maple

  • How much does a snare like that cost? It sounds great.

  • Thanx! Not sure now but I paid under 200 bucks for it brand new 7 years ago.
