@plzdontkillme17 Not true. If you count cards perfectly, you play perfectly, you never get caught, and you have enough money to play enough, you WILL win. The first two take practice, the other two, well that is more difficult.

@cbernier3 it is true, knowing the count gives you a 1% advantage, putting it to 50/50, in the film there high counts are very unlikley, if you dont believe me get a deck of cards and count and you will see that getting a high count is near impossible,

Counting is easier than you think, I hit up the casino last night for my first time trying the +1 for low cards, -1 for high cards and 0 for middle cards. I did pretty well keeping track for my first time attempting to count. I bet more when the count was high, bet low when the count was low. Sure, you lose hands, but I won the high count hands, thus betting more and winning more money. We can all do this, beat the casino at their own game. It was an awesome night.

I mean I played BJ today and the count was +14 and I was wonging so what did I do I stuck £5 on the back of a guy who knew how to play and would you believe it we got 14 then a lucky 6 and the dealer got 20 so we drew then I stuck £10 on the back and gosh we got 15 against the dealers 10 ,I mean with a +14 count and we busted so what is the point you cant win either way unless someone has any helpful suggestions. And don't forget to figure your true count, if it was like a 6deck shoe, and 3-4-5 decks left, you need to do divide 14 by the number of decks left...

@staypress Count counting is about playing one hand. It's about playing thousands of hands. If the count was +14, and you had a 15, you probably shouldn't have took a hit.

@Tanera619 The casinos are not overly concerned about it, unless a person was betting really high amounts in relation to the count. My friend and her husband are card counters. They have made over $30,000 over the years, just playing on weekends for fun and extra $. When they play, they stop when they double their money. They make $800-1,000 per weekend and get comped for their rooms and meals. No one has ever challenged them as counters.

you dont win hundreds of thousands of dollars like in the movie. on average, u make like half of a percent of how much you bet, so if you bet $100, you make like half a buck. its just an edge over the house to make it so that you gain money and not the other way around

@smittyzx If you are betting millions of dollars, you can earn thousands. If you have a million dollars, and you play long enough to have bet each of those dollars 100 times each, that is like betting 100 million dollars. Well, half a percent of that is $500,000.

yes..the probability of you getting a blackjack is the same as the dealer getting a blackjack.. .. however blackjack payes out 3/2 therfore you win more money

the dealer has to play on the rule of hit on 16 stand on 17 if there are more low cards in the deck, hitting on 16 wont bust them so easily, while having more high cards in the deck youll be able to increase your bet when u think you can get 21 or a high number

if you use the "hi- lo" method, if the count is -2, This means there are more lower cards in the deck and and the chance of winning goes down. If the count is +2 this means there are more high cards in the deck and the chance of winning goes up. it is all about statistics. you bet according to the count. even if the count is +9 you may still lose. Its all about luck, counting cards just gives you that much more of an edge over the dealer.

This is how---- 2,3,4,5,6 are all low cards,those are 1+. 7,8,9 are all 0.

10,Jack,Queen,King,and ace are all 1-

So if you have a high number bet high

If you have a low number bet low (or not at all)

you count cards to make sure you have the upper hand if the count is less then 0 then your most likely to have no high cards in the next hand and if the count is higher then 0 then you are more likely to have high cards in the next hand you just have to make sure your betting correctly and your being safe =)

actually now if you do this method it won't be as exact as it used to be because they now use 4 decks mixed in with each other instead of one now the whole counting system is almost completely useless you'd have to be able to keep count of every single card in all 4 decks now its very difficult now to beat the dealer
