I think the effect works well! Although I can see how its "cosmic dust" look may not jive as well with some people. Still, It does convey a neat sense of "otherworldly energy" and I've seen some waaaaaaaay worse choice of special effects :-)

Well done! As a AAE-head myself, I would suggest two thing that would REALLY make this awesome: the movement when you're moving the ball up and down needs to be a little more fluid - it just kind of goes up and down at the same rat. And if you added an Adjustment Layer and then created a mask around your face and hand, then added some color correction to give it a purple tint, it would seriously look like the light from the energy ball was shining on your face and hand.

Otherwise, REALLY great!

Reply to this-- Pretty ok! But I would work on the movement, and animation of the energy ball itself. Animation needs to have some randomness, like the energy is shooting out, and the motion key framing needs work. Um. I would also use another sound effect, the one you used would more be for lightning.

O.k, i just read what i had written, and that's not good. To put it simply: Use very light pink shadows (reflections) on yourself, your hand and your t-shirt

If you realy want it to lkook good, you should make reflections from that light ball glow on you, and on the surroundings, or else it doesn't look real. The whole cinematographical trick is to make the light interact with the background. People in these videos usualy don't that into consideration. If your light ball is pink, then your face, your hand, and your t-shirt should have very light pink reflections.
