  • Hi, this is from the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in Singapore.

  • and they sang in german, why?

thats really cool didnt know its so famous in german ;-)

  • @Copfball @Pischen1993 I've heard that this song was actually originally from Germany and sung in German. and that Santa tale comes from Germany. I'm not 100% sure, but why is Santa's last name Clause (Klaus)? (:

  • @dreamtowngirl the guy who is ment is called "Sankt Nikolaus" and Clause/Klaus is the short form of Nikolaus

  • @dreamtowngirl

It's great, that they first sang the piece in German.

The song was composed in a small village near Salzburg, Austria by Franz Xaver Gruber in 1818. It bases on the poem 'Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht' (silent night, holy night) written by Joseph Mohr two years earlier, so it's an originally Austrian christmas carol in German language (as we speak German in Austria).

  • @dreamtowngirl Claus / Nikolaus comes from: ....Nikolaos of Myra, was a historic 4th-century saint and Greek Bishop of Myra (Demre, in Lycia, part of modern-day Turkey). Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker (see Wiki)

  • @rockerstoner27 ahahh but they are singing german??!!!

  • What the? Did I just hear 3 languages in one song? Chinese, Japanese and English? WOW! AWESOME!!!

This makes me say once AGAIN, JESUS CHRIST WINS!!!

  • We in middle Europe call it German, but the rest is something else. But it's truely beautiful...
