I remember going to the DUMBO open house artist studios in 1999 back when you could still see the Twin Towers across the river. It was a great atmosphere, live music, people in the streets, visiting the artists in their studios and a good bar by the York St subway station. Seems like yesterday. A different world back then.

Great shots! I had a few artist friends who lived in dumbo a few years ago (now they have left for other states) and they always mentioned how older residents would share what it used to be like.

Wow wirklich toll. Tolles Auge und es kommen immer super Sachen dabei raus.

Besonders gut gefallen, hat hat mir das Schloss und der Mann, der die Hunde ausführt. Ich weiß nicht warum, aber irgendwie finde ich einfach die Szenen total toll. Ich bin selbst sehr interessiert im Fotos machen etc und deshalb wenn ich fragen darf, was hast du denn für eine Kamera?

Das freut mich, dass Dir die Detailaufnahmen gefallen. Der Dogwalker waere fast nicht dabeigewesen, weil ich schon einen Dogwalker im Prospect Park Video hatte - und weil dafuer andere Landscape Aufnahmen nicht reinkonnten. Aber ich fand den Moment zwischen Mann und Hund gut. Und es sagt auch etwas ueber die Art Menschen im Viertel. Ich habe auf der DSLR Panasonic GH-2 gedreht. Meistens benutze ich die Kompaktkamera Panasonic TZ-10.

Pretty cool description you wrote, sounds more like what NYC should always be, but now, after the dumbo-mayor with jumbo pockets and the last one with lunatic law & order, the city is getting more and more SQUARE! Freedom Tower- huh, can't even buy a cheap pack of cigarettes or smoke in a bar or whatever other police state rules!

Yet, your able to still capture some cool roundness to help soften up the edge of left-sided reason!

@NRWTraveller Hi Dirk. Du bist schon der zweite, der die Einstellung von "Once upon a time in America" wiederentdeckt hat. Den Film muss ich mir auch unbedingt mal wieder angucken. Schon faszinierend, dass so ein Viertel nicht gerade schick rueberkommt, aber wahrscheinlich zu einem der teuersten gehoert. It's all about the views.

I don't know how I overlooked your comment last week. But it seems that I overlooked a few. You have a great eye. Yes, the quality is a little bit better than usual. This was shot with my friend's Panasonic GH-2. A lovely image that camera creates. But not so easy to stuff in a bag - and no auto-zoom.

@KiekeMaFilmBerlin Hi Klaus! Nein, keine Sorge: das Brooklyn von heute ist schon lange nicht mehr das Brooklyn von 1998 oder gar von 1989 oder 1978. Natuerlich gibt es in Brooklyn noch immer Verbrechen, aber die gibt's in Berlin ja auch. Brooklyn hat 2,5 Millionen Einwohner. Ist also eigentlich eine eigene Grossstadt mit vielen verschiedenen Vierteln. Einige sicherer als andere.

Occupy Wall Street laeuft weiter. Haben gestern wieder Zuccottti Park besetzt...
