hey axelilloper, if you think this sounds like crap than why the fuck do you have the time to make the comment, or why the hell did you listen to this song. Let's see you try and make better neo-pychedelic experimental music. Don't hate the players, hate yourself for being a little conceded prick who thinks he will look cool by going against the common crowd you fuck face
Man you don't even need drugs to listen to animal collective. CUZ THEIR MUSIC GETS YOU NATURALLY HIGH. And i wish to see them again, they were undescribably beautiful at Pitchfork!
@JANETOTHERESCUE I am unable to become happy to this song. I get sentimental, as the song itself reason the split between father and son. It makes me think about how I should be grateful my father raising me, while I am at the same time missing those days we spent under the same roof.
If those pixels kept decaying like that, eventually would one pixel remain? And if so, what color would that pixel be? Would it not be the dominating color of the photograph, which would be, in my judgment, a dark red?
Shit on my tits, 2007 was an amazing year. Great/amazing releases IMO from Animal Collective, Radiohead, Battles, LCD Soundsystem, The National, Future Of The Left, Spoon, Kinski, The Good The Bad & The Queen, Deerhoof, Menomena, The Besnard Lakes, Arcade Fire, Andrew Bird, Bright Eyes, Dungen, White Rabbits, No Age, Yeasayer, Alcest, Magik Markers, Dinosaur Jr., Blonde Redhead, Electrelane, Liars, The Antlers, AMT, Jonny Greenwood. Just to name a few off the top of my head!
People throw a lot of terms at AC and it is a shame AC can sometimes be a polarizing topic because in my opinion make some of the most genuinely beautiful music like this song.
this song is like if you dropped some acid, then a jellyfish took you into outerspace and then it had babies and the babies created a planet out of waffles and you were the king of that planet. thats kinds like exactly what this song is.
God, I love the vocals in this. I've tried so hard to mimic it perfectly via modulators, filters, wah-wah, and just plain slowing it down.. but I can never get it to sound quite as heart-shattering. It freaks me out because it reminds me of being scolded by my parents as a kid.
HOW DOES ANYONE LIKE THIS SONG!? no to say that you shouldnt like this song. i LOVE every song from animal collective that ive heard EXCEPT this one. the deep voice freaks me out just a lil too much. i guess my 2 questions are. does anyone else hate this song? and for those of you who like this song...why? lol im just curious
dude, CHILLTHEFUCKOUT. this song is genious. deep voice the wa they did it; amazing. no other band has done something like this. and then the sooth singing of all four pieces it together with the sound from the music. stop focusing on if it freaks you out. this song is genious so SHUTTHEFUCKUP!!!:O n sorry for bitching. im on the rag at the moment haha Xb
@ProfessorBackhand the deep voice is my favorite part. it's so freakishly haunting and cutting edge.. reminds me of grandfather time speaking to me in dreams
@ProfessorBackhand I see it as a message from father to son. the lyrics reflect that, you should read them along with listening and i think it may illuminate the song a bit more for you. The deep voice is pretty creepy but I think that's kind of the idea, like the voice of some distant father figure trying to console you and guide you on the path to adulthood.
my friend and i were talking about this song and came up with the idea that they got the idea for the vocal effects from the alligator singing underwater in all dogs go to heaven...hahaha..sounds exactly like him
i think this is the best song i've heard since i've been alive. Hopefully in decades to come, 2007 will be remembered musically for stuff like this, then for something tragic like jamie cullum.
I don't know why but for some reason "Respect the hive" gets to me every single time. It gives me chills throughout my entire body. This song made the universe tell me all the secrets of life, earth, and death.
"Woman Vocalizing" "Man Singing Backwards" hahaha. I used to skip this song, but now it gives me the coolest eerie feeling when i listen to it at night before I go to bed. I like to imitate the vocal effects on avey's voice by cupping my hands and singing madd low. haha
ahaha what? Hipster garbage? well i dunno about the hipster part its a pretty unknown band as far as i know. And the garbage part well no matter how bad or fake a band can be you can't really call it garbage, maybe a song is band but the entire band? Well listen to all of their songs and then tell me, some of their songs are really weird/cool
It's a good song, but it's weird that they decided to do this one on Conan. The crowd at the end didn't know whether to clap or not. I have a lot of respect for them though. They had to have known it was not going to get them a lot of mainstream fans.
this is a hella under rated song by animal collective.
