  • Great track. Not sure what it has to do with The Beatles Lady Gaga Johnny Cash or any of the other scores of tags you have on it though.Be better if people didn't abuse YT this way.

  • Nice!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6 people have had their soul removed.

  • i personally like rod's voice better with this kind of music rather than his style

  • Thanks for post .

    This song is amzing .

    Beautiful...

  • I came here to listen to Rod Stewart

    I stayed for David Gilmour

  • I like Mick Liber's take better. I can't feel the "broken dream" in David Gilmour's guitar play.......

it's just a "NICE PLAY" and maybe too nice for this song

  • ...and the Led Zep bass ain't at all bad either!

  • One awesome hell of a track. Pity Rod's forgotten how to sing it. The original will still be a masterpiece but Gilmour's guitar has gotta go down in history as the best at any cover he's done. Cannot compare Mike Liber's original with Dave Gilmour's they are two wizards of their own style ... kick back and tune in to nothing like it before or since.

  • Wow! --That's just GREAT!

  • Pure music!

  • Listen to that B3! Positively dreamy!!

  • Stunning version of one of the best Rod tracks ever.

And check this out: a British female producer recreates the sound of Rod for a new generation. In YouTube, search for'TIMEKODE, ROD STEWART' and listen to

    'YOU'VE BROKEN THRU'...

  • people sorry

  • 6 peopele are in a broken dream

  • The Afgan girl is hauntingly beautiful.....Rods voice alongside Dave Gilmours awesome guitar.....

    BLOWN AWAY!!!!!

  • hey franky...how is it your favorite since the 70's but you just heard it for the first time?

  • @anteturban Well it's like this.. . Rod recorded this with Python Lee Jackson in around 1973. However this version is much later. The guitar is better but the singing not quite so good. It was the first time I had heard this version but not the song. Sometimes i wonder why people like you bother with sites like this if you have to dissect every post. This is not Encyclopaedia Britannica, just somewhere for people to enjoy experiences together!

  • Hellofasong! Great voice great guitar, absolutley a-fuckin-mazing!!!

  • got to love it

  • I pissed myself when listening to this because I couldn't bear to pause it

  • Halleluja ! Today I heared this song the first Time.... fantastic music !

  • oh my god!

  • @4kisch i fucking love Rod's voice =) hehe

  • Absolutely wonderful piece of music, even Rod still sounds good.BUT, the GREATEST bassist of all time is Jack Bruce and as a 60 year old I believe I've heard many many bass guitarists and Jack, the man who sang 'Sunshine of Your Love', is still the best, Suzi Q was the cutest, though.

JPJ looked good last week with Seasick Steve on Jools' show.

  • who is the bird in the photo????

  • @schwimmwagenman the girl is the Afgan Girl..she featured on the cover of copy of Natinal Geographical magazine a few years back..quite striking pic..the guy who did photo tracked her down years later by the markings in her eyes! google her to see the whole story..amazing pic tho...

  • is this a typo?, or is this ACTUALLY GILMOUR WITH JOHN PAUL JONES??????

my brain doesnt know wtf to think right now. the greatest bassist of all time playing jams with the greatest leads of all time?? now i've heard everything.

TY TY TY TY TY TY TY for the upload mate

  • Oh Wow! I thought the Python Lee Jackson version was one of the finest tracks ever made. I never thought it could be bettered, but it has been!

  • @mjod1952 I have to agree with you, this song has always been a favorite of mine ever since i first heard it back in the 70s. I have just heard this for the first time, and it has given me the chills. Wonderful stuff.

  • is tht gilmour or jones playing guitar

  • Thanks. This is the best guitar with the best vocals. Pure emotion.

  • Remember this tune back in the day...in my opionion it's one of Rod's best!!

  • check out Thunder's version-Danny smokes this on vocals!

  • i listen end i .....fly......

  • this is SO much better than the python lee jacksons version

  • Alex Lifeson would have done a fantastic job on this track too.

  • i have been searching for this song for so long. i thought it was by the faces. love it. i think its one of rods best.

  • Even more powerful than the original version with Python Lee Jackson

  • Not only great song but also one of the greatests moment in the Breaking the Waves movie...

  • @pshphx I doubt there was any bad intention meant by the video maker!

  • @pshphx We love wine and we love feeling fine. And we take offence to your weak ass claim to helping people.....ya cunt

  • @MrFridaynightclub YOU FUCKER... MY WEAK ASS KILLED MORE IN 1 HR THEN ANY OF YOUR YOUR MOSLIM FRIENDS IN 1 YR......ALL I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU IS 1 SHOT 1 KILL AND WOULD NOT EVEN WINK ...HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU COVERED A FEMALE ,A CHILD UNDER FIRE..SO THEY CAN LIVE...I WOULD DO IT AGAIN..

  • @pshphx Not a fan then?! Hate war, love Gilmour. END

  • @pshphx Son, chill the fuck out.

    Seriously.

BTW. before you go all "hero" on me...I'm 35 years in, and still going strong. now, either enjoy the tunes or shuffle along.

  • A young Rod singing with Python Lee Jackson... amazing. A more mature Rod singing with Dave Gilmour and John Paul Jones... amazing. It's like having a Ferrari and an Aston Martin... both amazing yet each totally different . Aren't we lucky.

  • @rodstewartshow spot on!

  • @rodstewartshow .......... spot on!!!!

  • This song is so emotional, I dont know why but i just love it!

  • Is a good cover-version from Python Lee Jackson!

  • @RoeWolf

    Cover?

U mad, he sang with Python!

  • wot a combo wow this is a dream not broken

  • Oh LAWD...I HAVE to DO THIS SONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG--actually...dont forget JONESY'S BRILLIANCE on this peeps!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh LAWD...I HAVE to DO THIS SONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • David Gilmour makes every song he plays on his own.

  • GILMOUR!

  • Gilmour's guitar playing is right up there with all the rest, only with more emotion than the others.. Don't retire, Mr. Gilmour !!!

  • ..love it!!!! Should defo collaborate more often!!! Rock my plimsole should be a good contender!!! The genius of Rod Stewarts voice is still with us after all these yrs & the brilliance of David Gillmore!!!

  • @eddionrodanronnie

David Gilmour is pretty good too!

  • hear that man PLAY!

  • Didn't know this existed, thanks muchly for this upload. If I hadn't heard it I would've doubted if it would work, obviously I am an ass.

  • I much prefer the bass line in the orginal Python Lee Jackson version. More adapted, diverse and interesting. Here it's much more of a 'blues guitar' demonstration.

  • one of the most underrated songs and performance

rod and david and John Paul on the same song

you got to be kiddin' me

    perfection

  • The original recording of this song is BETTER. Rods voice was working well and Mick Liber's guitar was superior

  • @guitarboogieboogie

I disagree about everything except possibly Stewart's voice. It may have been stronger in earlier years, but there's a mature, mellow feel to it that suits this version. It's a little groovier, a little slower. And Gilmour's tone is better I feel, creamy and rich, not as tinny and frantic as Lieber's. This version is sexier.

  • Brilliant! Certainly can recognise Dave G's guitar! Thanks for posting. I'll keep my eyes open for the CD box set mentioned earlier.

  • Not nearly as good as the original Rod's voice can't carry a tune like this any more !!! the only good thing is David Gilmour's guitar.

  • @flagstare

Added to that, nowadays he sings in a pseudo american accent, which sounds shit.

  • Man, great song for sure, but, somebody really got tired of their guitar, nice photo. Thanks for the post my friend. Peace to you.

  • F'n Rod needs to give up this Crooner trip he's on and get back to hookin up with some R-n-R heroes of the past, and releasing more shit like this!!! Freakin awesome, with JPJ organ riffs.. this is soulful blues personified!!!

  • Bellllllissimo,David intramontabile.

  • Av always disliked Rod cause he's a celtic fan, but my god this songs unreal. Fair play to um.

  • Wicked!1 Blindin! Why didn't i find it sooner!

  • I found this by luck and what a find. Gonna try the lottery this weekend yay

  • I LOVE this song - but to find a version with Mr Gilmour on guitar - sublime!

  • Rod Stewart is no match for such a great guitar player like Gilmour

  • What album is this off?..could you let me know please.

  • @farshore The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998 [Box set]

  • @godlike51 Do you know who's playing drums on this please?

  • @stevecoot I believe it is Pete Thomas, Elvis Costello's drummer....

  • Gilmores playing is not a patch on Mick Liber's lead on the original.

    This rerelease sucks.

  • i go for the original with python lee jackson. it has more original guitar. irreplaceable

  • Gilmour Rules !!

single note of Gilmour can kill you. !!☮

  • @GuitarFloat - No Doubt... Especially when he pulls some harmonics... Tasty stuff always.

  • @GuitarFloat amen

  • @GuitarFloat The Fender on Fire is apropos for the visual, however, a clip of them all performing would be stellar

  • @GuitarFloat

Gilmour kills, but Dave could save you too!

  • One of my all-time favourite songs with another of my favourites - David Gilmour!

Mr. Gilmour's playing is so distinctive.

  • amazing version of a great song-love it

  • The original was great (apart from the bodged-up timing when the vocal starts) this version should have been so much better with such musicians- but the production has let it down. Rods vocal is questionable. Gilmour is just unique.

  • Great song, great version. So who toasted their SX guitar?

  • Don't push your love too far

Your wounds won't leave a scar

Right now is where you are

    In a broken dream

  • so nics

  • mi piace moltissimo questa fantastica canzone!

    yesssss,che struggimento gioioso...

  • One of the best songs I ever knew, wounderful voice rod and amazing guitar playing from David as usual , nice lyrics too..

  • Rod for God! His voice isn't anything like it was when he was young, but the guy has so much soul!

  • I could listen to this over and over - it all fits so beautifully.

  • I must admit I don't like Rod's voice at all, never did, but David Gilmour's guitar makes me listen to this song again and again.

  • @4kisch even Stewart on the Jeff Beck album Truth, great combo

  • i think most people would disagree with you, rod stewart has one of the best soul/bluesy voices ever. i cant think of many people id rather have singing in a supergroup such as this

  • The guitar playingby Gilmour is, of course, great, and so is the keyboarding. and drumming....but Rod makes this amazing blues into something bloody disney would use in a cheesy movie.

Of course, that's just my opinion, so crucify me if you will...

  • @DylanNotBob

Prepare to be crucified...but can you cross your legs?

    We only have 3 nails.

  • so damn good
