Holy crap, Vic! I just noticed your instrument. That thing is magnificent! It makes me feel warm just looking at it! It looks as good as it sounds, and I can't tell you how great it sounds! Thanks!!
@stevecraignet Thanks, it's my old Blacky which I pimped myself,a lot of work but it pays off and I got a nice original look not found similar anywhere, greetings Vic.
Hola Amigo! Sorry for the late response. Life is hard sometimes...
This made me smile. I needed that. i used you as a background while answering emails I haven't replied to in weeks. Made it much easier! Thanks my friend. Hope to see more soon!
Vic, you are truly inspirational. I too have had to delay my dream of making music a full time activity. I'm a Berklee graduate trapped in corporate America - you have inspired me to plan my escape. Great music and always a pleasure! Thank you.
@ferreirachase Well make a plan to get students because you can't live from only gigging around, try to spread your wings, greets and thanks, lots of luck to you,Vic.
Vic, as always a great job. On of my favorite jazz tunes. I love your twist on it. I love the tone you're getting with the strat. What are you using for a setup to get the tone? Pickups, pedals etc.. thanks Vic, always love hearing your stuff.
@markguitarcote Thanks, here I'm using a Pocket Pod Line 6 pre-amp ( cruch) my pick ups are 2 single coil and (Bridge) Seth lover humbucker from Seymour Duncan, further no pedals, all is run through a 4 channel notepad mixer.
hi Vic, this Latin take on the tune is interesting. did you just break up the original sus-(9)-chords into fitting II-V pairs? along with the increased speed this alters the mood of the piece quite significantly – but it's cool, anyway!
@vladgromek Thanks, no the 7sus4 chords remain in tact. What I did in my arrangement is compose a moving line in each chord that goes from the 7 to 6 to 5 to 6. This melodic movement doesn't clash with the sus4 that remains situated in each chord. I always try to do something different with good tunes, make up my own arrangements,to me that's very interesting, greets Vic.
@Jazzguts Your commitment and your contributions valued here. At the cumulation of a long business career I would trade most of it for one of your solos. It's tough out there right now in all walks of life. Your music and artistry is needed. Glad we have music as an extension of life beyond the pseudo accomplishments of the economic system. Stay well.
@zydecobill That's a great statement you made, and it's also great that people mention these statements once and a while. Even greater for some others to read it and think about it cause too much is taken for granted, the old saying comes to mind: They'll miss the water when the well runs dry, friendly greetings Vic.
@SpaceGuitar69 I'm not in that tweet Stuff man, before you know I'm a complete Screen-Junk and I rather put my four fingers on my Six Strings and spend my time constructively, greets Vic.
@freddym223 Thanks Fred, thanks for dropping in,listening and enjoying, that's what it's all about Amigo, I see you have to divide your talent now between chess playing and Music, they have a lot in common, greets Vic.
@Jazzguts yes Vic . but music is easy , where as chess is a bitch ! if i lose a game , i can't sleep at night thinking if i made the correct move i would have won. but if i won a game , i can't sleep thinking over how brilliantly i won . :-( your grandmaster son knows the feeling . lol !
@rwclay Well Randy,I grew up with the Blues (Carlton-Ford generation) later I also listened to the Jazz greats a lot , I love the combination when I feel that Blues and Jazz just simply flow in a happy marriage, greets Vic.
Hi Vic, This tune sounds great man, different but style full with some sharp aggressive improvising with a good timing had me swinging, thanks for posting, thumbs up, Greets, John (Willemstad)
@JAZZFLEX09 Thanks John, most guys play this as a Jazz standard (which it is) but somehow I heard I could squeeze my Blues-Roots (mixed with Jazz of course) into this lovely Hancock tune, I had a ball doing this, abrazo mi ruman,Vic.
This is the reason why I enjoy my breaks with youtube. Your music makes me calm down and relax so I can start again with my work. Thanks for that Vic - I already missed your videos! Great you are here again! Big hug - Sabine
@SabMei1 Thanks Sabine,I took a break myself re-evaluating what YT means to me and my Music and how I'll be continuing. It's good to do that sometimes,I wont be pumping out one video after the other anymore but concentrate on good quality, it's got too crowded here, I think "Less is More", hug Vic.
@TheWhiteSlaveDave Well the neck pick up is an original Fender -the others are Seymour Duncan, single coil (middle) and Seth Lover humbucker (Bridge)(quality pick-ups) Vic.
Hi Vic! I heard it today after uploading, then I had to go to lessons. I couldn´t get it out of my head (the positive way;-))! Very fine mix of blues´n´Jazz, a way someone can only play after years of playing the guitar. Sounds so pro (of course - you are). All those fine bendings, no useless note, all soulful and meaningful. Great chords are going on there, really! That´s the reason to like YouTube-world of music.
Sound AAA+, distortion in a very crisp amount, I like that!!!
@FrankRMusic Thanks Amigo Frank for your in depth comment (always full of meaning) that's why we're Soul-brothers,you also play in a way that speaks from the Heart, full of Soul and I enjoy your Videos very much, you're right man it's a blessing we're playing Music and giving it to others to enjoy especially when we improvise, till soon my friend,Vic.
nice to see you my friend it is a while ago.... It is nice to watch your fingers how they are dancing over the fretboard. You know I am always enjoy your relax way to play the guitar!! Of course great tone and sound!!! Hug Sarah :-)
@sguitar Thanks Sarah, glad you enjoyed, I took off for a while, thinking where all should go with my Music and YT, I'm getting a clearer picture now,I'll be doing lot's of improvised stuff, thanks for listening and being here,Hug-Vic.
That was really something! You have that river flowing and it is coming out fantastic. I like the fusion of the jazz and blues style together, each having its own voice but both flowing together very nicely. Your tone is great, it must be those stone picks, it is so expressive and under control. I like your motto, sit, tune think and play, it suits your style so well. Great work on this one.
@sunriverperson Thanks Rich, I see you read my comment (about Zen). I have this little book called "Zenguitar" (Phillip Toshio Suddo) it has become my little bible especially in terms of mentality and responsibility towards my Art, to create it's very important to always get in the proper mind-setting and be fully concentrated, glad you enjoyed,Vic.
@StratBurns Thanks man, het harde werken begint (is) z'n vruchten aan het afwerpen, heb nog steeds veel plezier in studeren, dat houden we erin, groet Vic.
@MatthijsBudding Right on brother I'm not playing to impress but to express that's a total different mentality. I'm a Zen man and my motto is: Sit-tune-think and play every day then the Music just flows out of you like a river, that's my way,the way it should be,greetings Vic.
@Jazzguts Yes, played in a manner only years of experience will provide. Perfection built on years of hard work, false starts followed by renewed effort.
