  • On Conrail, we used to call the EOTs "FRED"s. Frashing Rear End Device" or for those who lost their job to it, the F stood for something else!

  • The flashy red thingy on the end of the train. Stands for End of Train device Pretty much a replacement for a caboose, sends data from the rear of the train to the head end and serves as a rear marker.

    ITs called FRED, Flashing Rear End Device, or its more commonly connotation among engineers... Fucking Rear end device.
