  • RIP Tim And Jeff Buckley. Listen To The Magic Numbers Version Of This Song

  • Tim inspires me. This is a honest, deep, simple, and beautiful song.

  • This is a honest, deep, simple, and beautiful song.

  • This is a honest, deep, simple, and beautiful song.

  • Not of this world.

  • That's the best 2 minutes and 32 seconds of my life.

  • We're still listening and appreciating your poetry, Tim.

  • What's the name of the percussion like a bell?

  • @HarryRag i dunno but i think it sounds amazing also!!

  • I feel like Ray Lamontagne based his entire career off of this song.

  • Im certain I have heard his music befor but I heard 'I Once Was ' recently and its like Im seeing dimentions of his music that I never before realized. That song especially is truely timeless.

  • Amazing and unique live footage of Tim, if you think of it, and so much too. Bad for my heart LOL

  • It's good to see that there still folks out there that still appreciate his wonderful music.

  • Bellísimo

  • He's so beautiful, and that voice is incomparable.. except perhaps by his own son. Its such a tragedy for the world to lose two so extremely talented and iconic men.

  • Very outstanding. R.I.P.

  • special! love it!

  • 5 ottave e mezzo

  • Tim Buckley performed at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia in 1968 or 69. I sat on the floor in front, a very small venue. Gypsy Woman was my favorite song. I still miss him.

  • Gee whizz,!! (don't laugh ,I say gee whizz) lol

..5 people don't love this song !! are they poorly?..thankyou,I've just been unpacking some boxes in my new flat+this was the 1st song I listened to+I love it:).+it was nice to christian my home with it too:)

Not sure tho' about someone comparing Tim to a "meatier darker John Denver!!!" OMG that's going to give me nightmares now..lol..cheers Sophie

  • oh wow

  • the percussionist sucks so bad. he ruins hallucinations from tims peel sessions too.

  • Can't believe yesterday was the anniversary of his death and I forgot. R.I.P. Tim.

  • Just great. How can such a peaceful person have so much trouble inside?

  • beautiful, like a meatier darker John Denver,

  • first time listening to him and Tim Buckley sounds beautiful. :)... yet it's very melancholy.. very interesting and mysterious singer.. thumbing this song up (:

  • I hope he's found peace in whatever world he's gone to by now.

  • amazing and underrated artist...everyone interested in his work should listen Tim Buckley - Dream Letter (Live in London 1968)

  • so wonderful

    so sad

  • If only he could have sung a song for me. I wish I had discovered his music prior to this death. He was so very talented.

  • My favorite artist. The man was a legend. The music lost two greats when both father and son were taken so young.

  • love it

  • I want to cry.

  • pure beauty!!!!

  • Just beautiful....exactly what I NEED to hear..thankyou xxx

  • Love you Tim, you got an incredible voice, so as your son...

It's a pitty the world lost you both in such little time U.u

  • Beautiful.. thank you for the upload, very much.. real.. music

  • who gives a shit whos better just listen to who YOU like the most!! totally diferent music.the only thing in common is how they both sing from the soul.. enjoy it

  • Beautiful song..

  • There will never be another buckley...

  • He makes me shiver. I love him and his music ❤

  • Comment removed

  • Watching it now on dutch television.. Beautifullll

  • Not particularly fond of all this "who's better" debate. Both are angels, in terms of singing (I refuse to use the past tense because their gift to the world is timeless) though different musicians in regards to style/genre. Jeff is probably the best example of a son not just living in the shadow of his father's talent and fame but standing firmly on his own.

  • HOW BEAUTIFUL WERE THOSE BUCKLEY BOYS! AND THAT'S EVEN BEFORE THEY OPENED THEIR MOUTHS, WHICH MAKES THEM UNREAL, JEFF'S VOICE WAS SOOOO HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL, AND TIM!!! WELL, ENOUGH SAID!

  • FOR ME JEFF WAS BETTER? MORE SOULFUL, SWEETER, THOUGH IT'S POINTLESS TO COMPARE, AS BOTH WERE SPECIAL!!!

  • Beautiful song! thanks for the post :-)

  • @kaattz Beautiful song indeed..Thanks for sharing Kashif...

  • @kaattz Love Tim Buckley stuff & Jeff Buckley, I've been trying to upload some tracks for months, but Youtube keeps blocking them :-(

  • The 3 people who disliked this hate this video because it makes them cry.. Such a beautiful song!

  • Funny... the congaman accidentally hit one of his cymbels and turn to Tim... (1:24)

  • @tubematth lol he looked a little afraid

  • I can't get tired of this video! :~~~ tim's and jeff's voices are so deep and even after being dead they never fail to spread love all over...

  • A great theme of Tim Buckley, to contribute to album a curious equilibrium!!!

  • I know nothing. I know plenty. Some of what ive said is pretty well documented. Why not just go around you tube calling people FAGGOTS you FAGGOT. or better yet listen to so more BONO. Ill give you this you do know what FAGGOTS sound like you seem to enjoy there music.

  • ugh...are people still arguing over tim and jeff here? Two different music styles here people, two different octave levels, PS tim's was high than Jeff's. Kind of obvious. END of argument.

  • Proud to be named after Jeff "Buckley" :) It's my first name lol. Man never looked at Tim before, he is good.. Both have strong lyrics..

  • why do they leave this world so soon,,, i love tim buckley... this is my most favorite song

  • In my opinion, Tim and Jeff shouldn't even be compared. I don't think we can say one is better than the other because each had his own voice/sound/style/etc...

They are both different kinds of wonderful.

Tim is great. Jeff is great. No, they're not equally as great. BUT, they are different types of great. It's difficult to explain.

For me, Jeff will always hold the top spot in my mind, but to each his own.

Both beautiful talents; but both world's apart.

  • Tim married Mary due a phantom pregancy apparently after he'd popped good old Guibert's cherry, then he got her pregnant for real hence Jeffrey Scott Buckley.

Tim had about eight albums and someone to write lyrics for him. I love them both by the way. I just thought I'd point out some facts. Well almost facts...mostly what I'm remembering now, inebriated on a Friday night, from the biography of them both both (which I recommend) Dream Brother.

Hong Kong Bar, that's a really good song.

  • Oooo shiverrrrrs,,..just want need for my blue monday

  • Beautiful feeling and emotion in song brought so closely to an audience...

    Brilliant!..:-)

  • Nice!!!

  • Quite possibly the best song ever written x

  • This is so sad :-(

  • oh god, i love Jeff and Tim.such great musicians, and talented father and son. love them.

  • Oh lordy. Almost fell off the chair when he looks at the camera. Beauty

  • ROFL!

  • God I love this song,,its beautiful+makes me cry

  • i read that Tim Buckely had a six octave vocal range! is that true, and if so what songs show him using it?

  • @johnpaul83

6 octave range sounds like an exaggeration. 4 is what I've read.

  • @woodbrake yeah more than likely. i know in "Dolphins" he has that Deep baritone voice and in "Come Here Woman" and "gypsy Woman" he goes realtively high, though i dont know if thats his falsetto. but anyways. thanks

  • @johnpaul83 I listened to a Tim Buckley radio interview from 1974, and he claims his vocal range is 5 and half octaves, and poses problems for recording engineers. He gets pretty high on 'Knigh-Errant'

  • @woodbrake Sweet man i didnt know that. Ill be sure to check out that song. thanks :)

  • supoyrb

  • not taking anything from tim great song and all but this video really makes one see how jeff was a spitting image of his old man.

  • Radiohead's Creep sounds very much influenced by this song, you can just hear a resemblance in the melody and chords. Good to know that they have good taste!

  • Most possible. Thom has done a cover of this too!

  • it is...nice ear

  • creep is just all i need is the air that i breath by the hollies. i think they were sued for it.

the chords are exactly the same.

  • @sodemored no one gets sued for stealing chord progressons otherwise oasis wouldn't have any money. Athlete's "half light" is just "run" by snow patrol and i've heard more songs than i can count that are identical to "don't dream it's over" by crowded house

  • yeah but radiohead did

  • YES

  • @imamacyoureapc Can also check that song by The Hollies, The Air That I Breathe.

  • I'm looking for old friend Brain Hartzler, Tim's first guitarist, if anyone can help, thank you

  • Is that a Mick Jagger poster I see?

  • beautiful song. I also like the cover Radiohead made some time ago.

  • yes me too. I hardly like covers but that one was good. Fellow Radiohead addict I see :)

  • ...che incanto...

  • I really like this song. I had to sit back close my eyes and listen to it.

  • meraviglioso

  • Hauntingly Beautiful

  • one word for this song BEAUTIFUL.

  • You're so right, this song is nothing short of absolutely gorgeous

  • This is an extraordinary song and performance, and it never fails to move me. Tim Buckley was one of the finest singers to have ever lived. His untimely loss is felt even today, and the death of Jeff his son deepened the sense of tragedy surrounding the Buckley name/legacy in popular music. A terrible shame because it draws attention away from the truly marvellous voices Tim and Jeff possessed.

  • you understand great music. thanks for your great opinion. wish more people feel this way instead of listen to top 40 empty words. tim rules and takes your breath away. i can;t wait for heaven to see him. just one acoustic performans with jeff. i'll do anything;-) regards

  • I agree that they are both incredibly talented but I think they're death has actually drawn more attention to their music

  • THE BEST!

  • Jeff was great, but without Tim there would have been no Jeff.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • The world needs more singers like Tim and Jeff...both were gone too soon.

  • I totally agree with you ! ! ! These singers left us with gifts for the soul.

  • *sigh* Those glory days when men sang beautiful songs for beautiful women...nowadays, it's all about hate, drive-by shootings and self-pity.

  • Yes very true of both Tim and Jeff. DId you buy the new Tim live at the "folklore centre CD"? Its amazing recorded in 1967 above a record shop.

    Totally pure genius.

Few artists like Aqualung and Morcheeba tick the right boxes. Something to believe in.

  • i wanna make you smile, whenever you're sad, carry you around when your arthritis is bad, and all i wanna do is.... ... ..isnt it beautiful? and it's from 20th century as well.

  • another one song from the 20th century is...

    you're beautiful, you're beautiful, you're beautiful it's true...

  • Too true Sir, too true. Originality has been lost, because the soul's voice has been stuffed shut with rubbish.

  • @AdamsApple1963 the good stuff is still there, maybe even more than ever before. you just gotta look harder :)

  • @mohammadchoudhery Oh, believe me, I have been. Certainly been finding a lot more good stuff online.

  • @AdamsApple1963 - I know, sad indeed. We're de-evolving. I wish I lived in a different time.

  • @ikthos77 I understand. I feel the exact same way. The great thing is though, we still get to enjoy all the awesome music of the past, and the new music. Most music is weak these days, but true artists still exist!

  • @ikthos77 ahhh the myth of progress...things just ain't what they used to be...sorry, sir, but there were no golden times. the past grooms itself.

  • Tim has got that wonderful, solid voice that just knows how to emote very single lyric of the song. Truly his most beautiful song.

  • para marcela...

Just a beautiful song for a beautiful woman.

  • he looks so much like his son, its uncanny.

  • hah too much buckley for one planet no?

  • they're both incredibly beautiful. (:

  • One of his most beautiful songs. Thank you for posting.

  • The Buckley Voice :) Tim and Jeff would be great together :)

  • very very good artist

  • he's great, but jeff will always be the better one for me. not even just musically, but because i can't approve of tim abandoning his wife and child. And I think Jeff was deeply affected by the lack of a father in his life.

  • Do you think Tim Buckley would give a shit about your approval? Get over yourself for hells sake. All we have is his music it isnt anyones place to judge his decisions in his life unless your directly affected by them. Why has every artist have compared. Just appreciate the music, its all music!

  • I understand your point, but Tim was quite young (18?) when Mary got pregnant, and he had a pretty weird father himself. Of course, it does not excuse the abandon, but it helps explain it. And for my money, even if Jeff may have been the better musician, Tim was a much better vocalist and composer, and he accomplished more in less time, if I dare say...

  • No, Jeff was definitely the better vocalist. Tim may have been a better innovator and creator of vocal parts but no, he has nothing on Jeff.

  • I don't think the two voices can really be compared.

Tim's tone is so rich and warm, but Jeff has an extraordinary range and uniqueness.

You can't really compare voices so different, and they were gorgeous singers in their own right regardless.

  • @AndyUnwritten Are you kidding? Tim's vocals SURPASS JEFFS

  • @variatingmule Jeff aka Scot decided to his father's name just for publicity

  • @variatingmule no way tim was a better vocalist or composer, specially not vocals. no1 is better at vocals than jeff, thats not even biased.

  • tim and jeff are very different tim is very masculine obviously not MACHO but masculine. Jeff is like marlene dietrick with a penis. I cant see him ever saying with any seriousness get on top of me woman.. it is obviously true that Tim acomplished more in a shorter period of time. but he is also mush rawer eathier artist. jeff is a very polished muscian he studied to unblievable extent and didnt even believe himself a singer until he was in his earl twenties. as for the other thing excuse has

  • @KingMinosxxvi Marlene Dietrich with a cock!!!! lol..just going to bed, will have nighmares now!!! lol

  • @KingMinosxxvi YOU KNOW NOTHING. STOP WASTING YOUR BREATH, FAGGOT.

  • @variatingmule Tim is well known to have the better voice, however, I think it's wrong to compare their voices, as well as their music. Saying that, I much prefer Tim's music. It's a lot darker.

  • @variatingmule

I agree, but Tim did see Jeff again once, when they were both older. I don't know the time frame, and I don't know why it didn't continue, but I think (could be wrong) they were on good terms.

  • @variatingmule he wasn't a better vocalist or composer. tim was great jeff was masterful. quality over quantity

  • Comment removed

  • @variatingmule disagree jeff was a better singer imo

  • @variatingmule Yeah, Tim was better than Jeff Buckley for sure. TIm Buckley was sort of a polished Bob Dylan in my opinion. He had more of a grace to himself than does Bob Dylan. Jeff Buckley was more into straight-ahead rock music. The only crap I don't like that Tim Buckley did was his white-boy funk phase. Other than that his catalogue is excellent.

  • @variatingmule better vocalist and composer? oh no. but he is wonderful at both.

  • @variatingmule what the hell is the point in comparing the two.. they are completely different and are both beautiful in their own ways.

  • I like him even more than his son Jeff, his voice was more "round" and warm. Some more nostalgic...

  • This is beautiful music. What a beautiful voice.I fell on this by chance and I am glad I took the time to actually listen to his words.Finding music you are not use to hearing and finding a beautiful voice like his.

  • Wow, this is amazing stuff! What a great voice...

  • i wish more people would know the greatest art of this music. this is truely amazing, his voice, the music and all the jam sessions. i love it, and i wish i could see him perform. i'll just have to wait for heaven i think !!!

  • wow, this is magical.. I have never actually seena vid of Tim before Buckley father and son RIP. Shame Jeff never had a son

  • this music is just wonderdful. It's a shame they're (tim and jeff) already dead. probably they would be more successful now. I think they were like .. a bunch of light years advanced.

  • i must strongly disagree on that one. IMO, these last several years have been the absolute WORST that music has to offer. these days it's all about who can look the trampiest while singing and dancing to songs they didn't write. I say bring back the days when people had respect for music and realized that music creates them; they do not create music. It's not even *about* music these days. It's all about being an attention whore. Long live Jeff and Tim...

  • dude, you're obviously talking about mainstream, right? i'm pretty sure you can find a LOT of many money-heartedless music makers if you look for it.

  • First off, I'm not a dude, I'm a woman. Second, yes I *am* referring to mainstream but also to music in general these days. I guess that wasn't a completely fair statement I made... There *are* artists around today who put their heart and soul into their music. No one will ever compare though. It's just not the same as it used to be.

  • all right, but i think your ''It's just not the same as it used to be'' statement is very limited. i mean, back in the days of tim, or even when jeff was alive, they were present and were adored; and now that they are past, they're venerated. i see it as transition of times - what is now cannot be compared to what was then 'cause what's now hasn't had years and years of build-up adoration. besides, things change. i am actually happy that things are not the same as they used to be. =]

  • "what is now cannot be compared to what was then 'cause what's now hasn't had years and years of build-up adoration"

Note really, people like pink floyd, led zepellin, genesis, beatles etc. were adored because they brought something new, and made revolution in music. What do we have know, a part from some few real artists like Radiohead, Bjork etc.? Spears, Maddona, Duffy:(

  • precisely, and that's another reason why you can't compare the oldies with the new - the oldies will always be the pioneers, and great part of fans' adoration comes from that. radiohead, for example, is recicling what pink floyd did in the early 70's, which doesn't take off their credit 'cause they are not pioneers. i don't think you should be mentioning mainstream pop in a discussion like that. ignore spears and simple plan, they're commercial garbage, not art, like beatles or interpol. =]

  • Well yes I agree. But... I don't know where you come from but in Italy, in the radio or TV you listen only these garbage and it's sad. I used to listen the radio but not anymore.

  • i'm brazilian, but i've lived in europe for many years and had my share of disgust with rai uno - it's indeed horrible, no offense. it's not any better in brazil neither, though. neither is anywhere, for that matter - everywhere, mainstream will always be commercial trash. it's up to people who like real art to tell apart garbage from actual art. ciao! =]

  • @Amusement73 there were just as many bad pop artists back then as there are now, and there are just as many good artists today. it just seems like there were so many more good artists in the past because people only talk about the very best and most original artists from any given era while the limp bizkits and hillary duffs are long forgotten within a couple decades

  • so beautiful, so right from his heart to mine

  • amazing song with a gorgeous Singer ! Merci for the share :) peace !

  • This is my favorite Tim Buckley song. I had a huge musical awakening through his son's music. I find that Tim's music has the same affect on me. This song continues to bring me to tears, just as Jeff's work has. Its a shame to lose such great talent and it hurts to know that Tim didn't find huge success with his work.

Our generation needs this music. Kids these days don't know the affect music like this can have for them and I feel blessed to be one of the few to have taken a liking to it.

  • agreed its kinda annoying as an 18 year old i have to go back as far as these times to find some really beautiful music, theres nothing really out currently on the music scene that quite connects to me as the music of artists like Tim Buckley, Bob Dylan, The Smiths, Neil Young. I've now had to resort to writing my own music in my bitterness of the kind of artisits who make the charts nowdays!

  • that's because you're an idiot. There's a lot of good music out today

  • yeah that's right that makes me stupid for not liking some of you music like. obviously you believe good music is the current songs in the chart because if their in the charts they must be good, its not that now the majority of people lap up crap such as the Jonas Brothers because Disney and co. tell them too. idiot

  • you dont know me so dont say those things.

    First, you're an idiot

Second, you need to open your eyes to see good new bands.

    Third, please stfu.

2000s is the best year in music, but if you still being an idiot, you will die just listening to the same 5 bands ^^

  • and you don't know me so i'm not sure why you keep calling me an idiot! And of course i don't listen to the same 5 bands, all music is a matter of opinion and if you think the 2000's is the best year in music, although i disagree, it might be the true for so therefore my opinion is irrevelent and your opinion on my music taste is irrelevant.

And if you really think just because you think some music is good therefore everyone must think it's good, then you're the real idiot.

  • holy shit man, you really need to get a life
