They're getting old, though, and many are starting to have geriatric radio issues. The power supply filter caps failed in mine, causing a lot of hum -- at first just for a few minutes at turn-on, and, ultimately, all of the time. I replaced all of the power supply caps, including the ones on the board under the speaker, and it's as good as new.
Great radio; mine was a gift from my father-in-law, W6RRZ.
This Radio is a joy to use, always preferred the Kenwood HF Transceivers, i widebanded mine with no loss of reception what-so-ever.
Yeasu and Icom radios look like Ham Rigs, where as the kenwoods look like pieces of hi-fi equipment and fit in more with the surroundings of some people cut my teeth on an Yeasu ft-100
i have one of these, and i agree with your comments it's a very nice piece of equipment, and you never hear a bad one...thanks for posting your video.
I have a 940SAT as well, pair it up with a Radio Shack DSP-40 which can easily be found on eBay for $20 USD and it makes one heck of a receiver, comparable to any of the more modern DSP rigs today. My 940SAT is my daily rig and has all the mod's done to it. I get tons of compliements on the voice (transmit) audio quality daily. Great rig!
I can here w3bt on there.
