I listened to all the songs, in order, as someone suggested. I am thankful for it because I really need the peace this music gave me at this time in my life. I think we are so lucky this beautiful soul survived his ordeals in the 90's.
Of course John is good at the bass...he plays alongside one of the best bass players of all time, Flea! Also, FYI, Flea is also a multi-instrumentalist and is very good at guitar :) He wrote the guitar part for "My Friends" back in the day
Re read my post...I just said it has to be coming out in the next few months. If you think about it what else has John had to do the last year since he released the Empyrean. You and I know John keeps it quiet about his solo stuff until he releases a song, and then the album. He'll do like he did with the Empyrean and release 1 song about 2 months before the album comes out. Could be any day now...
@RHCP4455 I don't wanna get you out of your dream, but it was known for about a year before the Empyrean came out that he was working on a new album (working title was "Solo X"). And John even said he may not even release his new music.
everybody says that john frusciante is only getting better, but I disagree I liked him better when he played in RHCP(especially the albums californiacation and Blood Sugar Sex Magik)
Also I read that some people think he's better on the bass then flea. That's not true though it souds great it's very easy to play. I also think that flea has written things on bass that sound way better.

hes good but anthony over rides him on the lyrics all day. hes good at back up singing and rocks on the lead guitar but he makes better music with the red hot. solo is tryin a lil too hard
I think this is the greatest music ever. John Frusciante in my opinion, is the greatest musician of all time. because the worlds view of music is perverted, he will never be given an award for his music, but me and other JF fans know that know one can ever come close to the beauty and emotion that John Frusciante captures. He is beautiful. He is the best. Period
It's important to remember and easy to forget when we listen to him, that John is still just a human with normal feelings and emotions. As people we all possess the ability to affect other people's lives in a positive way as John has done for us. Despite his personal struggles he still continues to impact others in great ways through the means he knows how to do so best: music. We too can affect individuals just as greatly through the means that we know best, which can be anything.
very insightful comment i appreciate that positive attitude and you're absolutely right that we all possess a greatness but as individuals all with a different hands dealt to us we must figure out the strength to convey that positivity through whatever means necessary that lies within us. in jf's case his inner voice is obviously heard strongest through music!
I think Flea would be impressed with John's bass playing....Superb, as is this song, and the whole of " The Empyrean " album. Everything John does is, well - Divine.
"The actually disk cost probably under a dollar. Profit is obviously made off cd's regardless of how many people download them. "
Sorry to shatter your perception of reality but that's not the way it works. It's not only the raw material of the CD that you pay for. It's the work god damn it! Just compare it to any other job. If you work for over 100 hours with writing, and then you sell your work, do you think you will only get payed for the actual cost of the paper?
I love the almost gospel influence in this track. Frusciante is so incredible in the way he pulls from such a wide array of influences and can make any of them catchy and yet so raw.
this album is a masterpiece... but i think john is just trying to express himself in the way he wants to. It seems like everyone one of his albums have a different, unique quality to them. He wants you to feel what he is feeling in his life... personally, i think he is one of the best impressionists of this generation and he represents himself through music
John: Thank you for surviving all that this existence has subjected you to, you are an inspiration and a testament to the strength and love of the human spirit. I have been sending my brotherly love your way from the moment I became aware of you and your sensibility. The Empyrean is a fucking masterpiece. You are a masterpiece. Thank you again for your insightful stylings of mind, melody, and spirit...I definitely feel your lines.
thats a bit of a lie isnt it.... maybe youd have an ear for music but erm, your not auomatically a pianist if you learn guitar. i suppose pianos have strings but theyre percussion arent they?
Wow, I guess I have to admit that drugs sometimes can be a terrible, terrible thing. Frusciante's new music is so much more emotive, so much better and touches you on another level. It is like dark/light I guess. That is why I don't do heroin. But without ever doing it, would he have "it" in his heart to make such great music?
Hmmmmmm
Sorry in advance if I change this into a debate about heroin.. It\s just a revelation. Fuck anyone who turns this shit into a debate in advance.
An interesting point, and so true. The cleaner and further John gets from his junkie days, the better his music gets. I'd like to think John's always had the music in him, and it's just changed as he's matured.
Has he made this music from his time in a haze, or is it just natural process? It's the kind of thing we can never really know, but an incredibly interesting question.
Not that I want him to become a junkie again but I rate his older albums just as much as the new ones. Smile From the Streets You Hold is awesome, it has great ideas. I don't think the Empyrean is better in any way other than production. But that's just my opinion of course.
i wouldnt say his music has got better..Niandra is still my favourite album. His new stuff is great but to me the mystical force behind his albums was more raw in his early stuff because the production was so lo fi..
No need to downvote the guy for joking around. I agree John Frusciante can pretty much match or beat all the members of RHCP on anything except the drums.
