  • Dreaming on me!!!

  • Any thoughts on what this song is about?

  • Best video game sound! XD

  • Speak & Spell,the best work of DM !!!!

  • Speak and Spell started it all......I remember I had to explain who these guys were to my friends and classmates back in '81 and '82 before they got bigger in the States. I even had to pronounce their name over and over so they could say it themselves....Mode was and is my favorite of all time....loved 'em since the beginning....

  • <3

  • I wonder if there wasn't Depeche Mode, what would I listen then

  • @TheYouHub Maybe you would listen to Rebecca Black's Friday? O_o

  • perfect new wave synthpop 80s from depeche mode very very very very very beautiful tune, MASTERPIECE

  • I was in a record store in East Lansing MI in 1981 when they were playing this album. Bought in on the spot and have been listening for 30 years. One of the best 80s bands.

  • Why were the synths in the 80's so awesome? THEY RAPED THEM AFTER 2000. FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU- Ahem, I love this song... <3

  • Bonus tracks on 1988 CD re-release: Mute / Cdstumm5

OK you got me !!! Not on the Original album thou !!

  • @carld1967

It was on the original album as it was released in the US.

All the night, fused tomorrow, Dancing with a distant friend

  • I wish that I were a bit older so I would live in the 80's. It seems like it was some awesome years. :3

Well, "old" DM was better than the "new" DM.

  • innit

  • I fucking love this song now i'm 38 lol time flies so fast i feel so old now -_-

  • This peaked at #57 in the UK charts when released.

I'd like to listen to all the 56 singles that were ahead of it....

My guess is only 1 or 2 will sound as good.

  • the best depeche mode song ever

  • yeah ;) sogar Platz 45 in den Charts.. :D

  • geil :-)

  • Very Kraftwerk-ish :)

  • @PSBelectronica

True, but it has more warmth than Kraftwerk, who were always insistent on appearing cold and machine-like.

It was really yhe British Synthpop groups like Human League, DM and OMD that brought warmth and humanity to electronic music.

  • today is 30 anniversary of release of Dreaming of Me!

  • depeche mode best of british

  • This is the kind of music I WISH I grew up with.

  • love the 80's synth pop...or new wave, whatevers chosen to call it!

  • If I can shuffle around the activities hall with my walker in 35 years time when the staff at the geriatrics nursing home play "80s' specials" on Wednesday afternoon, I'll have a satisfied toothless smile on my face.

  • i recall buying a compilation cassette in 1982 with this song on it. i was immediately in love. i'm almost 41 yrs old. love new wave.

  • Creator

    ~~ Loves You ~~

  • fun, fun, fun going in fun playlist

  • Can people please stop slagging certain types of music down, let people like what they like! If it sounds good to them then its cool! Great tune all the same

  • 5 people wish they could one day dream of me.

  • none of that cRap

music was always like candy... you're supposed to throw the rappers away, but people just can't realize this is the real, and where it's really at.

  • wow i had this on cassette used to play this in my vw beatle till it broke (the cassette not the car lol)athough that broke down alot too =0)

  • this is where it all began for Depeche....this song was released almost 30 years ago....

  • I was only 9 when this came out. Back then I was listening to classical music and old 78 records, didn't hear of DM until '87, the year when I first saw "waivers" (pale make-up and jet black hair. I love everything from DM now!:)

  • Comment removed

  • im 8 months old and i been listening to dm since i was 2 and half month old. i want to suck your nipple

  • I remember I played the s**t out of this record - still got the original 7" vinyl. Possibly my favorite song of all time...

  • I'm 9823426 and I love DM... (now give me as many thubs up as you can)... god... noone cares about your ages idiots...

  • @growrust - I went back in time to 1810 and brought this song with me as an MP3 and listened to it so I listened to Depeche Mode 200 years ago. So there

  • Depeche Mode = Never duplicated, Never imitated, Period.

  • @waynesworldwaniac sounds like a lot of music that came later to me

  • never too young or too old to listen to Depeche Mode

  • classic song takes me back =0)

  • DM best song ever. wanna argue and i'll bum ya mam

  • I think this was my first introduction to DM, and I have been a huge fan ever since the day I first heard this song. I have always loved the fact that everyone was betting against this band from the moment they broke, but DM established a fan base like few other bands, and went on to be hugely influential on many, many artists in the 80's, 90's and beyond. DM forever!

  • BTW, I believe this single was not released as a part of original Speak&Spell. It was added in later version. Ok, wikipedia says it was in US version, but not on the rest of the world release.

  • Vince Clark at the helm!!!

  • so simple but so good !! saw these at lycem in london in 82 !! great days!!

  • I will ALWAYS love Depeche Mode :D ever since I was 10 years old. And its always put me in a mood to draw <3 they inspire me. ;.;

  • Awesome tune

  • Thats is so true, I have noticed that threw out the years either people loved them or hated them there was no in between. I have loved them since I first heard them back in the early 80's. There songs still sound like the first time I heard them, never get old.

  • simplistically complex

  • This one would have been a bigger hit when it was released in 1981 if it had been promoted more. Alas it wasn't to be. When "Just Can't Get Enough" was released it was a whole new game.

A nice little song with a naivistic feel to it.

  • MY FAVORIT

  • It's been interesting reading the comments from either those who have children listening to and enjoying DM, and those quite young who are into them. My 11 year old daughter loves listening to DM with me, and has done for a couple of years. OK, she might be too young to comprehend the meaning of the lyrics in most of their songs, but she appreciates good music and as she matures will be focusing on their lyrics, of substance.

  • Much love & respect to DM from Seoul, S.Korea!

  • This came out before I was born too. I would think most kids born in the 90's never even heard most of this.

  • tey did great shit but were done after violater

  • Was there ever a video for this?

  • Synthpop at its best! One can definitely hear Vince Clark on this album.

  • @sastal I'm not a moby fan. I'm no more or less a fan of Depeche Mode than anybody else. I make these comments when I'm bored. Its stupid and I must stop before I actually start believing that they have anymore meaning than the white noise you overhear at the bus stop.

  • This is no longer a pop song of the New Romantic era. Now it is history and sounds more experimental and groundbreaking than anything else. God bless Vince, especially.

  • My favorite song.

  • I ♥ Depeche Mode !!

  • early DM always awaken cheery memories

  • If you are young and you like Depeche Mode dont waste your time complaining. Find other music like the White Stripes, Biffo Clyro, Moby and the tons of other bands who are as good as DM. Love your life and live out your loves.

  • @Longniddrie Moby does not come close, sorry. Still like his music, but he is universes away.

  • I hate the rubbish we have now and I'm 13 THIS is proper music IT IS not clueless woman in bikinis who don't even write the bloody song!

  • Anyway what cd is this? I have speak & spell tooo and at the end of this song it goes a little bit out of tune and the boys are singing like this "uhhhhuh" "aaaahaaa".

  • I used to listen to this when I was 14, nothing has changed, I'm still a virgin.

  • DM has eclipsed the "Boy Band" genera so totally that it's easy to forget about a single gem like this... Amazing band, even for when they first came out... And if you recall that says a LOT

  • yes love is a lifelong thing....dm is love...for me...yeah.....

    dreaming of dm......

  • last forever!!!!!

  • For everybody! Depeche Mode is timeless and ageless!

Either you love them or you hate them!

I love them and i guess its a lifelong thing! To me it is! ;-)

  • @WUTALAnna 100% agree with you, from the first time I heard them in 1981 until now Depeche Mode are brilliant, 2 great vocalists and 1 amazing song writer in Martin 28 years of magic so far, keep it up guys you are the best :)

  • @WUTALAnna I guess it will be a lifelong affair for me then ;)

  • @WUTALAnna hello WUTALAanna!! from mexico. I totaly agee with you. your words are so true. Thats the way i feel, i just didnt know how to put it in words. Have a nice depechtime day.

  • @WUTALAnna i cant understand how a person can hate this song. no i just cant. you either like it or it doesnt interest you. YOUTUBE MAKE ANOTHER BUTTON!!!

Also lasst uns das Unmögliche möglich machen! Um “Dreaming of me” in die Charts zu schießen, müsst ihr nur eines tun:

Kauft “Dreaming of me” am 20. Februar 2011 als MP3 bei Amazon oder bei iTunes!
