My best friend is just under 100 pounds no matter how much she tries to gain weight. She's 15. The main reason she can't gain any weight is because her mother thinks she's fat and won't let her eat.

@DotDawtDot Been there, done that. Back in primary school I was the lone bookish-fat-guy... not something you'd want to be in the town I grew up in. I had little to no friends and it got me into a lot of fights because of it. As a guy they where more openly violent then if I'd had been a girl, but I've seen how hard it can be on girls as well. Life moved past that stage, but I did learn to never be as shallow or show the crass lack of empathy they had. I grew as a person, be it at great cost.

If it's as bad as you describe it, seek someone that knows how to help you. Disagree. There is a fat (I'd call it obesity) epidemic in America, and it's looking like it's catching on here in England too. I don't care what anyone says, there is NO excuse for being obese for 99% of the population other than their own lack of self control, and I don't know what's more disgusting; the obesity itself or their failure to control their own gluttony.
People want to be attractive. But the issue lie in the disparity between men's and women's ideals. As far as I am aware, most men don't find exceptionally thin girls attractive (nor the overweight ones admittedly). But all the girls I talk to always assume that to be the case and of course want to reach the ideal.
The fact that man have an obsession with breasts should tell you that as this can't come about in nature on exceptionally skinny girls, that men don't idolise the underweight!

I'm 220 pounds, and yet I could fit into a medium for most clothing (most of my clothing is large, not medium). 220 pounds should be the very upper reaches of size (unless you're a body builder), not a "medium". If you look at professional sports, with the exception of american football (300+ pound linemen WTF 0.o), players tend to cap out around 220, with a couple tall guys weighing more.

Obesity is a serious issue in this country. Significantly overweight people are just plain disgusting looking and I'm not going to apologize for feeling that way. Yes, 20 pounds overweight (over healthy weight) is not a problem. In fact, I find slightly overweight to be attractive... MUCH more attractive than underweight. But that is a different issue. I understand how people feel about the super skinny ideal in our society but as retaliation there's a lot of negativity towards skinny people rather than a focus on acceptance of all shapes and sizes.
I'm very skinny because it's my natural body shape and I'm sporty. Lot's of girls pick on me about it o try to make up for there on insecurities about being a perfectly normal weight and it's put a big dent in my self esteem :(

People want to be attractive. But the issue lie in the disparity between men's and women's ideals. As far as I am aware, most men don't find exceptionally thin girls attractive (nor the overweight ones admittedly). But all the girls I talk to always assume that to be the case and of course want to reach the ideal.
The fact that man have an obsession with breasts should tell you that as this can't come about in nature on exceptionally skinny girls, that men don't idolise the underweight!

I'm 220 pounds, and yet I could fit into a medium for most clothing (most of my clothing is large, not medium). 220 pounds should be the very upper reaches of size (unless you're a body builder), not a "medium". If you look at professional sports, with the exception of american football (300+ pound linemen WTF 0.o), players tend to cap out around 220, with a couple tall guys weighing more.

Obesity is a serious issue in this country. Significantly overweight people are just plain disgusting looking and I'm not going to apologize for feeling that way. Yes, 20 pounds overweight (over healthy weight) is not a problem. In fact, I find slightly overweight to be attractive... MUCH more attractive than underweight. But that is a different issue.
