very cool, I think the traffic part is especially useful. DC Is covered in both traffic and traffic cameras, so this would be a great way to visualize things... especially if it could be integrated into the Nav-traffic dashboard head unit.

3D buildings is already widely available on Google Earth. If you see a building that isn't 3D all you need to do is use a 3D modeling program to model it then submit it to Google.

Notice how the cameras are in places that cameras already are placed. Also the cameras are in public places, Not really invading anyone's privacy. If you're worried about privacy, don't go to public places. It would be different if the cameras were located inside your house or something like that.

To make it possible each camera must provide their feed to the server doing the calculations. Also the server need to know the exact location and direction of each camera.

So this is not something applied from day to day, but more a showcase of what is possible if wanted.

On the other hand it would be possible to track most people just by the location our mobilephones provides today.

In most of our case, it is okay since most of the objects are replaced by symbols (detection and recognition is quite different : we may know this is a car or person, but we have no idea that this is your car or you). However, in the scenario 2, you may decide your footage will be public or not (like youtube). Since this case was designed more likely to sports scenes, the problem may come from intellectual property issue, not from privacy, I think.
