I think this video/song means that it's a waste trying to understand God (you wasted life why wouldn't you waste the afterlife), because understanding God is impossible. He says you should just enjoy life and not waste it by trying to comprehend where it came from. His lyrics also mean, you will be just as clueless when trying to understand life after death just like you were in your life life...

I live in Oklahoma, which geographically is very similar (open plains but sans all the flatness), but this - and I have no clue why - "feels" like Kansas... might be some collective generalization about Kansas we Americans have because of the cliches surrounding it (flat, open plains with crops everywhere and old country homes), I really don't know... cool to notice though ^.^
