@invadingPoptart just saying for a better idea use the technic pack mod and equip the rechargable drill with a lazerwith a custom mod results will be finding a giant hole until it hits lava or bedrock

The rope didn't go down because the lasers are a block and so the rope saw it had a block under it and didn't go down.
