Man, this was before being gay was cool and all white people turned into homosexuals. The gay love being shared between Mr. T and Hulk Hogan is a little too much.
Who is Billy Squire (is that how you spell his name)? Well who ever he is or was somebody should tell him that it was Piper who broke the guitar not that there is anything he could do about it apart from just talk.
I was 10 and god I hated Piper. He was the best at getting heat. I love Piper now but back then I wanted Hogan to kill him lol...This really brought back memories: Rock n' Wrestling; Saturday Night's Main Event; Saturday morning wrestling...god I miss the 80's. The wrestlers today have zero presence. Just a bunch of acrobats at best. A couple guys like Triple H are ok but for the most part they all suck.
Thank you Sylvester Stallone and those affliated with Rocky III for casting Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, and thus setting up Vince McMahon's creative juices to set off Mania I with Hogan and Mr. T vs. Wrestlings Great Villain: Rowdy Roddy Piper & Orndoff.
@TakeAShowerStinky You want wrestling watch the Amateurs like the NCAA asumming they still Televise it Nationally it because no one watches that stuff anymore lol. You want enertainment your in the right place. One the greatest Shows of ALL TIME LOL!
@TakeAShowerStinky How do you over rate the match that set the industry up for a change that would revolutionize the entire business, and generate more money, than ever in it's history? I'm not calling this a classic wrestling match, and I doubt anyone else is either, but for sure it is a major piece of wrestling history. It was to wrestling what the Boston Tea Party was to American History.
I remember those days, although I obviously didn't watch enough: I missed when Lou Albano and Cyndi Lauper mended fences in their WWF involvemen. Of course that was a little confusing since they were copacetic in her videos, but playing enemies in the WWF.
@fgldnglbs Actually that is well documented in the MTV "history of the rock n wrestling connection" special that aired the night before Mania. They show Lou crashing the set of "She Bop" demanding a part. He was screaming at the stage manager that he had an oral contract with Cyndi that he was to appear in any video she made. Lauper, Wolff, and a certain set "security" guard got into it before Lauper finally agreed to give Lou a roll, and put him in hair rollers.
@fgldnglbs The segment was classic for two moments. When Lou and the security guard got into it Albano started shouting, "Don't get to near me or I'll kick your fuckin ass" and they aired the bad words. lol I'll post it this week. It's a classic for sure. Pretty rare footage.
...Not to mention Capt. Lou Albino's month-late doped-as-slope prescription...
Allen Hunter's standing there, thinking: "F-all of these clowns...these morons are so completely wired down to their useless genepools...great, more money into my pockets here at the 'Garden!!!"
Watching this, I just can't seem to make up my mind of which weekly dope medication I would take---Andy Worhdrove's smooth-running purple haze or Hulk Hogan's boyz-droize nitro pill
Holy hell was Hogan full of steroids here. Billy Graham said Hogan didnt know what a steroid cycle was so he just took a shot of testosterone and numerous other ones every day
Nobody and I mean nobody in this business has ever cut a better promo than Hulk Hogan. even on an off day Hogan was better than anyone in the business today of getting on the mic and pulling you in.
In no particular order, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes, Jake The Snake Roberts, Paul Heyman, Bobby The Brain Heenan, Jim Cornette, Jesse The Body Ventura, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mic Foley, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Vince McMahon Jr, Shane Douglas, Raven, Brian Pillman, Superstar Billy Graham, Chris Jericho, Goldust, James Mitchell, John Bradshaw Layfield, Sensational Sherri Martel, Stephanie McMahon and Sunny are/were the greatest Wrestling promo cutters of all time.
THAT was wrestling there was a minor fuck up with mean gene's head set in the biginning and they left it in plus u feel the emotion on the interview unlike now where u can often see them read (or look at the exact same place 10 times during an interview lol)
This was one of the greatest nights of wrestling ever. This brought Professional Wrestling into the mainstream. How good was Piper during the interview? Classic all the way
Definately didn't expect ANDY WARHOL to pop out of nowhere! Joe Piscopo gettin hot for the women's match! Billy Squier threatening to smash a guitar over Piper's head! That was the most random arrangment of personalities I've ever seen in a post-match interview. Not to mention Lou Albano total freak out and Mean Gene telling someone to find him a locker room or something, maybe a Valium or two would be more appropriate.
