You heard wrong. A plane did go down in Rockaway later, but it wasn't the first time that had ever happened. They're on the flight path coming out of JFK airport. Mike's a rock. One of the strongest and most stand up guys I ever met. He married shortly thereafter and started raising a family.

If people like Yarrumm could move to really neutral Countries like Switzerland or Sweden and then talk! Thanks for the kind comment. I wrote the lyrics after I heard Mike at the Concert for New York. A producer saw the lyrics (to the tune of Wearin' o' the Green), got the studio time, hired the musicians and singers, and got it produced. They are called the Chamber Made Brigade.

Well for one thing, that's what Mike Moran said. this song is a tribute to a man who in his grief and despair stood up and said what we were feeling. I am from Boston, but I can well imagine that the NYFD feels the same way the BFD does. They are their own clan and as such feel particularly connected to their ancestry and history. Mike Moran was born in America, as was I but we identify ourselves with the word "Irish" as naturally as we breath.
