  • If I were to hear this on the radio, I would think "The Lettermen," or "The Vogues."

  • The Summer Place song is a very good example of the music learned at Renton High School. Barbershop quartets were in at that school in the mid fifties.

  • I sang in the Junior High Boys Glee with Ron Hicklin. Right from the start it was obvious he was a great singer. He was and still is a friend, though I dropped out of music early, he did not. The rest is history as they say.

  • Yes they certainly were. Actually the original Smooth Shavers baritone was Eugene Bowen who did not travel south with the others. According to Ron they found Zwirn, originally an instrumentalist on a hippy beach doing his thing and cleaned him up them used him in the group.

  • Ron Rolla and Bo Zwirn were both members in the early days as well.

  • Well, I went to High School with Ron and Stan Farber along with two other originals from those days. Eugene Bowen and Duane Parker. They were originally called the smooth Shavers. Then they hit hollywood and went viral. Ron in the middle and Stan Farber, tow of the originals in this song

    Herb Huseland.
