My problem isn't so much people hating on Weezer these days, it's people acting like Weezer raped them or something.
Rivers isn't George Lucas guys. He didn't go back and tamper with Blue and Pinkerton. Debate all you like, but don't act like they're offending you. Those two albums will always be there.
On that note, I think the band had a solid four streak of great albums from Blue to Mala.
If you don't like them, there are tons of bands that sound just like them. Look, people, look.
@alphamale15 blue and pinkerton are the best. hands down. but your right. the red album is awesome as well. King, Dreamin', some songs on the newer albums are better than the older songs. as an album in its whole? blue and pinkerton. but weezer still releases great songs. The only albums i havent liked by weezer was death by false metal. and maladroit, didnt really do it for me. but make believe, green, red, raditude, hurley. all these albums still show weezers greatness. =w=
@funfunmers hmm maybe because the tambourine reminds you of the vince guaraldi trio/christmastime is here? or because of how pathetic/lonely this song makes rivers (or if this song isn't as personal as i suspect it might be, the fictional characterization of it ) out to be? the sentiment of it sorta reminds me of the running theme in pinkerton too.
@maybesproutwings Yeah, the tambourine is a definate part of it. This was created around the time of Pinkerton during Rivers' sad/depressing times at Harvard.
I'm a hardcore weezer fan& critic. However those of you who don't see redeeming qualities in both the RED and Raditude, you're all lame purist with blinders on. How lucky are we that we get to listen our favorite band progress and grow over the last 10-15 years? You don't think Geffen had his fingers in Pinkerton, Blue and green.
If any River's purist are out there, then why not respect Maladroit? nuff said
Great band and raditude is awesome, red was decent. Make believe.. pretty awful
Rivers should have definitely done a slight arrangement adjust of this song and submitted it for Raditude, this song would totally be awesome in a final studio version with the rest of the band
How does this fit in with the Raditude album? Seriously, if you can give me one decent reason, I will be shocked. First off, this song actually has musical integrity, something Raditude lacks entirely. Secondly, the melody isn't something i shit out my ass. Thirdly, there's some very cool transitions (i.e. the keys playing the melody after the first verse) that work great, but catch you a little off-guard. This song is great, but I don't think it fits any Weezer album (especially Raditude).
Wow. I never knew Rivers was so racist. Man, that sucks. I used to love Weezer before I found out about Rivers and his extreme hatered for african americans and most native americans.
To be honest, Rivers is Weezer. Up until Red Album, he did everything. I love Brian Bell and Pat Wilson (I really don't care too much for Scott--Matt Sharp had a way better falsetto and played on Blue an Pinkerton--the two best albums). I don't think Rivers should leave Weezer because the guys are tight studio/touring musicians and these (except for a few exceptions) are all Rivers' songs anyway. It really doesn't make a difference.
I agree that Rivers should do a solo career if only for the terrible money-making beast that Weezer has become. Once Rivers got all in to himself, they lost their spark. Make Believe was almost an entire disappointment, and I didn't even bother buying Red. Sorry guys, Blue and Pinkerton are probably my two favorite albums in my catalogue, but the rest of Weezer's decent tracks could fit on an EP.
In a way, it was when Rivers STOPPED looking into himself that Weezer started failing. The Blue Album, Pinkerton, and SFTBH were all so personal to him, and very great. When people didn't listen, he decided to sell out...
@dufct1 really dude? if you dont love every weezer album, then there is something wrong. blue and pink are perfection, but make belive and red and even maladroit for that matter are genius in their own way. have you ever listened to the red album all the way through? ever heard pig? every heard the angel and the one? the Red album, and everything else (including Make Belive) is inspiring and amazing all on its own. all bands evolve, the never stay the same.
I feel like this song never showed up on a weezer album because it doesn't really fit their sound. This song, although great, just has a much different feel than something you would expect on a weezer record. I really wish rivers would've done a legitimate solo project at some point in time and made an album that had some cohesiveness to it. The alones are cool, but it is just a random grab bag of songs.
yeah but u said your self its cool, cuz it is, its good tunes, I like his vibe, but its just lost demos, raw emotion. but I agree weezers sound is very different from this, rivers shoudlve done solo work
Alone II?? When did this come out? I've been hiding in my cave for too long. I couldn't understand why this song wasn't on the first album. I figured it was some legal issue with Disney. Finally, an official release. Does it sound any better than the bootleg?
I was wondering why this never made it to a weezer joint way back when he recorded it, and I am still wondering why, but it's finally out for everyone to hear. One of his best!
thanks! tell people and watch the i'll think about you live video and don't forget to purchase Alone II i also have The Prettiest girl in the whole wide world live and purification of water
I think of this song every time I'm outside freezing my butt off!

I wish everyone would shut up with the "weezer sucks now" or "I only like Blue and Pinkerton" crap!
each album is great in it's own way, and if you can't appreciate that,
then how can you call yourself a "true" fan?
nodoubtem 1 year ago
@nodoubtem
Raditude was "great"?
Well you can be sure of this. Raditude was the Anti-Pinkerton Rivers was searching for. A critically acclaimed mess that the fans hate.

Rivers should just be a solo artist. No offense to the other guys at Weezer -- but he doesn't really need them at this point.
