wow tibs are slow.... i bought my celica gts with base hp at 190hp. put new 1.8 vvtec and rebuilt the engine to handle a turbo. now its smoking my bros mod 04 rx8 with base 235hp. 0-60 in just over 5 sec. 100 in just over 13. a stock tib average has 150hp. dont care what you "wana bees" say. all tibs are fucking slow
@spentfromnz thats not a 2.0L 1994 celica though. It's a 1.8L vvtl-i 140 kW car and much lighter than its predecessor. Tiburon's don't stand a chance if a celica goes into lift.

Yes, there are the huge differences between the two, one being FWD the other being RWD. But that is the evolution of the line. Definition of Genesis: "an origin, creation, or beginning." The Genesis Coupe is taking the Tiburon and having a new "creation." Also, you were the one who compared a 3.8 2010 to a 2.0 1990 first, saying yours could smoke a 2011 Tiburon. You sir, are a moron.

i raced a celica last night on the interstate three times and beat him. my tib is 99 2.0 auto lol and his was 5 speed. i beat him by like 2-3 cars. i guess he couldnt drive cuz this tiburon just lost pretty decent in this vid

@alterbr33d lol are you done copying and pasting the specs from both cars from edmunds lol.... celica gts cons=horrible torque, shitty gear box, and u gotta rev the lil p.o.s to get full power so while your in "lift" making all this noise with your fartcan exhaust cuz your trying to pass someone in daily traffic, a tib will be less quiet and alot more sexier thanks to a good crisp 6spd gearbox with decent amount of torque.... watch my favorites... tib gt beats a celica gts like nothing
The horsepower and weight I already knew, but the power to weight ratios I used a calculator for. I get sort of obsessed with specs of things anyways as people might say.
So what about a track times, again the Tiburon weighs more, worse weight distribution, would it be able to go as fast around a corner, pull as many Gs as the Celica?
@alterbr33d surprisingly, a tiburon has good handling for a 3,000lb fwd car... all u really need to do is get front and rear strut bars and your set. again, im not saying a tiburon is the fastest thing on the streets because its not but it can hold its weight against cars in its class (celica, eclipse, civic, cougar, etc)
Its not as fast as a Ford Ranger which costs the same, weighs the same. 210HP/246TQ. Other small pickups have around as much power too.
I guess the FWD cars would launch better though. Unless, the small pickups were in 4WD. of course the pickups would all be only a 5spd, but the top speed would be lower, more acceleration.

Oh and the Celica in this vid is actually a later model one, 140 kW (187 hp) from a 1.8L engine. It puts Hyudai's engineering to shame.

1994 Celica 2.0L = 132 kW (179hp)
2004 Tiburon 2.7L V6 = 129 kW (175hp)
As you can see, the Toyota engine is a lot smaller, yet slightly more powerful. Plus the Celica is 300 lbs lighter than the Tiburon.
It's clear which is quicker.

Hyundai Tiburon GT-VG 172HP(160TQ) / 3048Lbs
GT - 17.32 Lbs/HP 5spd
GT-S - 13.47 Lbs/HP 6spd
Tiburon GT-V6 - 17.72Lbs/HP 6spd
Tiburon would beat the GT because it has more torque, and better gear ratios.
Tiburon would not beat the GT-S. GT-S has more HP and weighs 623Lbs less. GT-s does have less torque, but it won't need it as much.
Tiburon weighs 300-700Lbs more than most 4cylinder cars.
