If it were a ufo, then this is what might have happened.

Ufo hits turbine. The high temperature created by the impact fuses one of the blade to the ufo. Ufo disabled by the crash. Other ufos come in to take away disabled ufo cum blade. Explains everything nicely doesn't it?
