Saxo's are bloody good cars! Same as the 106 gti barring leather interior options and a 24mm ARB Put these cars on a good country road and they will embarass all manner of more expensive machinery. I would argue they are better than the new breed of hot hatches apart from in a straight line but whats the fun in racing in a straight line? Any fool can do that...

My saxo on small sport slick with 800kg can run from 0 to 60mph for 5,2-5,3second. Impreza in this video shot have problem with 3rd gear and thay loose. But his best time is better than best mine, about 0,6s.

Hmm.. You're right in some aspects, but HP is a good thing to have at higher speeds for example. However for a standing start race, HP isn't really an issue, it's about torque and grip. Of course, the more HP you have the better but grip and torque are what its all about. Being able to shift correctly will obviously make a crucial difference too!

not really. most tuned up evos and imprezas struggle off the line cos they grip straight away and the engine bogs down out of the power band

No, evo's and imprezas are well known for being good off the line because they grip not inspite of it, thats how they get their sub 5 sec 0-60

yes they are known for that but it's not always true, like i said if they have a big turbo, as soon as the tyres grip, the revs drop and the exhaust flow isn't enough to keep the turbo spinning, then until the revs build again you essentially have a low compression 2.0 NA engine pulling around 1300kg, which is quite funny to watch when the car in the other lane is an underdog like the saxo

A the end of the day, even the standard WRX is a country mile quicker than a VTS, its designed to accellerate much faster, everything from the engine to the gear ratios. This is poor driver performance

after a quick browse, it seems an average quarter mile time for the WRX is about 14.4, i'm sure a half decent VTS driver could do a 15.4, ok so the WRX is quicker but i'd hardly call one second a country mile

saxo on this video can run fo 1/4mile for 14,1seconds, is not stock VTS, and impreza in this video can run for 13,5s and faster, is not STOCK too. in this video hade impreza problem with 3rd gear and lose, but is faster than my VTS. Saxo have only 800kg, 140PS and sport slicks for drag. All discusion on this blog is about nothing. Sorry for my english :-)
