  • Nice sound guys :)

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • STROKE....STROKE....STROKE....STROKE

  • This makes me think of a ballerina on the stage twirling and being graceful while weird stuff happens all around her. Don't know why...

  • When I listen to this I envision myself being ambushed in a cemetery and surviving.

  • Brilliant.

  • Edvard Grieg must be rocking out in his grave right now.

  • sleepzblu used this song!

  • Evil stuff.

This is why I love Trent.

  • ELO

  • The best cover. As good as the original. All the heart of it AND even more menacing.

  • For some reason, this version of "In the Hall Of the Mountian king" has a very...well, sounds like something that should have been in the old video game DOOM (or DOOM 2)

  • this scene is very cool!!!! this music is PERFECT!!!

  • I prefer the original.

  • Needs a dubstep remix.

  • @The9mmAK47 so true.

  • I remember Sully Erna of Godsmack disputing something relating to how technology these days is becoming to 'advanced' and that ppl should make music on drums and not to edit it and use like drum machines and such but I must say this song is an example of creating a form of art inspired by the original song for a later generation. Like you can tell this isnt just played on string instruments and conducted but altered and changed with the help of technology.

  • I've got goosebumps on my goosebumps.

  • Winklevoss twins went on to win a whopping 6th place

  • Epic outro..!

  • Epic outro..!

  • This piece should be renamed...Torment of the Winklevoss

  • this is my jazz dance song.. im supposed to be a doll missing an eye about to kill a girl.. cool -______-

  • Where did you get this image? :o

  • Goosebumps. Seriously.

  • Perfectly reimagined. Flawless.

  • 0:00 - 1:31 = Showing how I planned and exicuted the bank heist

1:31 = Slow motion of me running away from shit loads of police in slow motion

  • @123LNR Dunno why, but your idea gives me goosebumps^^

  • @warobin - Hey, I like the idea. The idea of running away from a giant group of people in slow motion to this song is just damn amazing.... Wild motion, open mouth, wide eyes, clumpy running :P

  • @123LNR 2:03 you get into a car crash and the cops kill you :( soz!

  • Well, a car crash isn't exactly a good thing now, is it?

  • Trent is a musical genius!

  • First off I like this song its an original music masterpiece of a time gone by but from ingenious articulate mind of Trent Reznor has brought it back to mainstream and made classical "cool" to nowdays standards and I absolutely love it more than I ever did.

    Thank you so much,

    Sincerely

    James

  • Awesomeness!

  • first reaction, INCREDIBLE

  • i forget when in the movie they played this

  • @NinjaKid3000 rowing race

  • 21 people lost the race

  • I'm convinced.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are magic manifested.

  • @maddywoo13 Personified?

  • @LordRuckus yes, thank you :)

  • 21 people lost the race LOL

  • If I ever made a movie that had a scene that started with a quiet, stealthy bit, then got extremely violent, this would be the song that plays during the carnage.

  • Just because they won an Oscar for the soundtrack, doesn't mean it was only because of this one song out of the entire OST.

  • @jrclanvideos yes but if it were up to me I'd say this song played a big factor in that Oscar.

  • Edvard Grieg would be proud....

  • @mens321 I was gonna say that lol

  • Oscar for this shit, lol

  • YESS! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOREVER!

  • Its a pitty its only 2 mins 24 long...

  • Didn't Johnny Greenwood get shticked out of an Oscar for "their will be blood" because his soundtrack used pieces that had been previously released? At least he wrote them!

  • Im here for the cool poster...

  • i love this!

  • Haters to the left I still think this is a freaking awesome adaptation to the original song.

  • That is some good hall of the mountain king!

  • this is epic

  • Introduced by Sleepzblu's Mind of Isaac Clarke. Phenomenal.

  • I was introduced to this song by nicktheface2's Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix trailer. WAR OVEREEM

  • This should be in the next Doom soundtrack

  • Allow me to set the record straight.....

ATTICUS ROSS AND TRENT REZNOR DID NOT WIN BEST ORIGINAL SONG FOR THIS. THEY WON BEST ORIGINAL FILM SCORE FOR THEIR ORIGINAL WORK. THIS IS AN OLD COMPOSITION, BUT THEY DID NOT SAMPLE IT FOR THE ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK. PLENTY OF OTHER OSCAR NOMINEES HAVE USED LICENSED MUSIC IN THEIR FILM. IT DOES NOT AFFECT WHAT THEY ARE BEING NOMINATED FOR, WHICH IS THE STUFF THEY ACTUALLY WROTE.

  • @RhetoricalFilms9792 I would have listened, but CAPS LOCK pisses me the fuck off.

  • @arrenmandl Here's the shortened version: Using an old song in a movie doesn't invalidate the whole soundtrack of being Oscar-Worthy. It's only when they remix old compositions, like Clint Mansell did in Black Swan.

  • @RhetoricalFilms9792 Writing is a form of selection. Selection is the basis of design. They deserve credit not only for their exquisite soundtrack writing but also their mixing, edition, and simple selection.

  • @RhetoricalFilms9792 The capslock button. You killed it!

  • Last time I checked this was not an original soundtrack.....

  • I wanna open my closet door (while intense light is emitting out of it) in slow motion while this is playing, and step through to another world.

  • I want this to be played at every dance club I go to from now until forever.

  • Wait, how was the Black Swan score not eligible for an Oscar for using previously written music but this wasn't?

  • @bennihana123 you really think this is how the original sounded?...

  • @terrifyingkittycat Of course I don't, but the music is the same, as in the notes. Cover or not, it is the same music, written by Grieg.

  • @bennihana123 Because everyone hates Mark. :-)

  • @bennihana123 Because when they nominate a score, they nominate just one song, not the entire soundtrack. Hand Covers Bruise was the song that was nominated for and won the Academy Award.

  • @moviemaster8510 But last year Toy Story 3 won Best Original Song and The Social Network won Best Original Score. It encompasses the whole soundtrack.

  • @bennihana123 Songs are different than scores. Scores are orchestral arrangements of music that sometimes includes a choir or soloist that's meant to go along with the film to convey a mood. Songs are music where the singing has its own form and is not required to be part of the film, just connected to it in some way. Plus, SCORE is a singular word. SCORES is plural. The award is for Best Original SCORE, not Best Original SCORES, so the award is given to ONE score.

  • @moviemaster8510 Actually, "Best Original Score" is given to an entire soundtrack, as in the music that is played throughout the movie, not just one piece of it.

  • @ABThatsMe91 I just did some looking up, and all evidence actually points toward your favor. Sorry. But to answer your first question, Black Swan couldn't be eligible because ALL of the score was adapted and rearranged from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. My music professor is an avid film fan, so he'd know.

    4. Play the canoeing game.

    5. Go apeshit.

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • Wow thank you Edvard Grieg. But brilliant adaptation

  • i dint know this was a sonic song and i like sonic what sonic is it from?

  • @ArgentDawn55 lolwut?

  • @xWalleRx i was reading other comments and their saying its the sonic the hedgehog song and im saying i never heard it on sonic and was wondering what sonic it was from?

  • @ArgentDawn55 Ahh. Well...while I have always been a great fan of sonic, I cannot say that I have ever come across an occasion where this song sounds familiar...Maybe they are on crack. :)

The reason I responded the way I did, is I, for some reason, thought you meant Sonic, the restaurant.

  • @ArgentDawn55 This was in the theme to Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog. That was the one where the only real protagonists were Sonic and Tails, with Dr. Robotnik, Scratch, and Grounder as the main antagonists, not the one with Princess Sally and the whole group of Freedom Fighters (that was SatAM Sonic). The original tune was composed by Edvard Grieg though. It's in my top 2 or 3 classical pieces, probably thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog.

  • @skamusician thanks

  • @ArgentDawn55 de derpy derp derp derpy derp

  • i think most know this as the "sonic the hedgehog" song

  • @benjamane this is not a sonic song... this music was composed for Peer Gynt for about 150 years ago...

  • 18 people didn't believe he deserved some recognition from this board.

  • Why the hell is Lady Gaga - Born this way under the suggestions

  • maybe there is not enough ppl playing the piano - coz i mean everyone who studies piano will play this sooner or later.....i love the track, the original....this one, hmmmm - cant judge it, it is a score for a movie i unfortunately dont like (i would have loved to like it but it is so flat and boring)....ok, seriously, this track sounds like some background music to a tv commercial to me. hmmm.

  • its like a dubstep of the original

  • @dphtrooper You don't know what dubstep is.

  • @dphtrooper *face palm*

  • @dphtrooper Well it's not really dubstep, but I understand what you mean.

  • AWESOME

  • Lemmings!

  • I just took a huge shit.

  • Wow maybe I expected too much from the re-mix rather dissapointed...

  • Oh nooo! Someone covered a song that someone else did?! STOP THE PRESSES!

  • love this.

  • 691 people dont know who Edvard Grieg is.

  • @sjduh We know who he is but you're ignorant of the fact that people actually like this version... Grieg's version is still amazing but that shouldn't mean that nobody can like this on too...

  • @sjduh um, was :P

  • Edvard Grieg is so awesome. :D

  • is this the inspector gadget soundtrack? ha

  • Jesus, showing off to the world the fact that you knew this song before Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross remixed it does not make you a superior, cultured~ being, it only makes you look like a pretentious douchebag. (As Eduardo would say...)

  • Comment removed

  • Bloody close race!

  • I think the way this has been re-interpreted is really amazing! Composers have been copying each other's work for centuries, I don't know why this is so outrageous.

  • Oscar for a 150 year old song, Grieg must be pleased!

  • @VaultTex

this isnt the song that won the oscar moron

  • @papacap727 stfu, u know what i meant.

  • @VaultTex If worms weren't eating his decomposed skeletal remains right now, then he'd be stoked.

  • @VaultTex

Or embarrassed that it took so long. It only won cause of the movie, which is sickening to me.

  • Epic Cover of an epic classic!

  • What is it that folks don't like about this song? I'm not picking up on it.

  • Vince Clark of Erasure also covered this song!

  • 1:31-2:02

NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH

NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH

  • thumbs up if you know about Atticus Ross - Panoramic

  • too cool!

  • where can I download this freely?

  • Are there seriously this few that know this was composed by Edvard Grieg?

  • @RectumPilum Are you seriously saying that this ISN'T a cover and that the guy had access to sinthesizers back then and remixed the damn thing himself?

  • @Sdudeobacon Are seriously implying that composing is the same as remixing?

  • @RectumPilum Remixing, covering, whatever, you knew what I meant! So are you? (In other words, are you saying that this ISN'T another version rather than the real deal? Cause If you are, don't bother answering!)

  • @Sdudeobacon what the hell are you on about? I'm saying Grieg composed this, and that this isn't the original version. But very few seem to realize that.

  • @RectumPilum Oh, okay, by bad. You should've said "originally composed" though, cause your first comment didn't.

  • @Sdudeobacon yeah but composing is not the same as remixing...

  • @RectumPilum Yeah, but neither is covering........

  • @RectumPilum @Sdudeobacon You're both wrong, Johnny Cash did this

  • @Squidpus Are you kidding?? Edvard Grieg composed this song in 1876. Way, way before Johnny Cash's parents were even born. It has since been remade and covered by many artists and musicians across the planet. The original piece made by Edvard Grieg is a song of legend, and in my opinion, better than every Beethoven piece. Get your facts straight please.

  • @BrayDONee0 Clearly Johnny Cash went back in time, and Trent Reznor keeps claiming Cash's songs as his own.

  • @RectumPilum fucking lol

  • @RectumPilum Those that do not know that need to be superkicked. Btw I like your username xD

  • @TheZombahs lol how on earth can you like it, it's horrible... =P

  • @RectumPilum It's the best one I have seen in a while xD

  • @TheZombahs I dunno what struck me.... I must have thought it was cool when I came up with it, now it just sickens me, but I cba to make a new account =D

  • @RectumPilum oh i hope not....I like the original but Trent took it to another level. the scores great.

  • @RectumPilum The original song has almost 3 mil views on youtube.

  • grinchin'

  • you guys do realise that about 99.99% of this wasn't their work but the work of a composer called Grieg? in other words, this isn't original?

  • @ntherewas1 Just because they used the melody that was from a different song doesn't mean that 99.99% was not theirs. It's called remixing, and it just means they got the melody from another song. Writing this still took an immense amount of talent.

  • @RevCosmosis you can have massive talent and not be a genius that will be remembered.

  • @ntherewas1 yes yes, we all do. This tune should be familiar to all, I hope.

  • Inspector Gadget theme anyone?

  • LOL, This sounds like a Nine Inch Nails cover of the damn thing...

    O_o...

    ...AND IT IS!!!!

  • Okay, you know what this track makes me wanna do?

I'm gonna clone myself, sit in a miniture boat and row with my twin in a miniture world rowing boat race. And sue Zuckerberg later.

  • I want this as my ringtone :D But there are some silent seconds at the beginning... how can i make it start from 1:30 (example) see ya!

  • @HashbrownBuds GIVE THIS MAN A THUMBS UP!

  • Okay, guys, relax xD I was just in a bad mood when I wrote that. You all make very good points so please, continue to enjoy your score ^__^

(Apart from the "twot" thing, better to spell insults correctly if you want them to be taken seriously :P)

  • Comment removed

  • @eatallpiepods It won best score, not song. So, it was the body of music throughout the film, including completely original works. So, you don't really have a point.

  • @TheLukeStein Well said that man eatallpiepods is a twot!!!

  • @eatallpiepods this song isn't part of the score that won the oscar.

  • @eatallpiepods No, it won an Oscar for Best Score because Trent Reznor is a musical genius and brilliantly encapsulates the essence of every scene of the film, which helped it become the masterpiece it is. The soundtrack has 19 songs, one of which is a cover of Grieg, there are 2 re-workings of previous songs Trent made himself, however your comment about the film 'winning Best Score for what is essentially a cover version' is utter wank and if you prefer Apocaliptica's fuck off back you twot!!

  • @eatallpiepods that metal version sucked horse ass after the horse ate a bean burrito

  • @eatallpiepods You're equating one song off the score to the entire thing. Inception had that French song. OMG UNORIGINAL

  • @DancingTableLeg THANK YOU!

  • F5..F5...F5..F5...

  • wow......Trent Reznore and Atticus Ross....just RUINED a classic masterpiece!

  • That is exactly how I would want an electric version of In the Hall of the Mountain King to sound like!

  • dude, it was perfect for the scene. It just demonstrated the intensity of what was going on. Perfect.

  • @DetroitVixen4Life Sorry but I have to agree with you...
