Good video, good insights, just wondering as an infp i seem
to have a problem with time moving, when having fun with people i notice others caught up
in the moment fully, me too, but at a certain stages or stages i would keep looking at the time thinking 'oh all this fun is going to end in 3o mins etc..', i basically can't get enough of even 3 hours when enjoying myself, whilst others can do with just 1 hour, i can pass hours like others pass minutes, are u the same??
8.write your strengths and weaknesses down, compare it to the rest of society,be honest
with yourselves,if it isnt working, but worked for everyone else, most likely we are wrong, eradicate the nonsense, keep the good, acquire others good points, for example we arent the best at articulating things, entjs are better, steal from them! estp are doers, steal!remember infp or entj or enfj is only a starting point,we are supposed to become ambivert with infp core, life is better like that, less stressful.
tips for fellow infps to succeed, I’m now become ambivert with an infp core, I carry myself confidently well-spoken and able to articulate myself like entj, infp core i.e. heart, compassion etc....istj wisdom, these are just some tips to overcome our weaknesses, all types have them, we should know them and blossom:
1. Don’t try to forget something, distract your mind with something else i.e. read
2. Make a to do list, otherwise think of the here and now
@Groty - This rings so true. One of my fav INFP videos. I laughed at the parts where you were describing your mind, sort of like you were viewing the inner you viewing another inner you. It really is like being a different character many times.
You may mess the test up but if you watch vids that other people posted here you can learn how to identify traits that really cant be hidden. There are giveaways like the way you gesture when you talk... Your pattern of eye movement while communicating and facial expressions all give clues to your core personality and cognitive functions. Each being introverted or extroverted.
MBTI is useful, and I appreciate it, but it's not based on the scientific method. A very useful book for introverted highly sensitive personality types is; the highly sensitive person by Elaine Aron. Youtuber Davesuperpowers has a great series of videos regarding MBTI.
You shouldn't feel guilty about your natural personality. With as messed up as society is, I'm happy I don't resemble it. It's kind of a relief in that sense. I'm also an INFP. I don't always enjoy it. Especially when dealing with people, or even myself. I always feel like I'm looking for someone who's on the same page as me, but at the same time that idea feels unrealistic. I used to think I was an INTP. It took me a little while to figure out that I wasn't.
@aide2memoire Lol,I thought i was an INTP at first and then i realized once I did full on research on all of the types and came across INFP I naturally thought, added some things together, lauged to myself and said wow that's scary!
I did have the same concern you do with respect to falling into a certain `label`... I`m a little confused b/c when I was younger I was typed as an ENTP, but now am an INFP.
@MsPonderingLife I read somewhere that a person’s personality type rarely changes in their lifetime. I'm not sure I agree w/ that; when I was younger (15) I was typed INTJ. I was completely unimpressed with that result & didn't bother to explore mbti. Last year (22) while doing a bit of self-searching, I took the test again & typed as an INFP. I was floored by how much it sounded like me, now & when I was younger. Perhaps you were mistyped the first time around, or perhaps you did change type.
OH MY GOD you sound SO 'N' and 'P', haha. what you are saying sounds like a lot of the stuff that goes on in my head. remember that your type can change, and sometimes we act using letters that are not part of our preferred type. for example, I'm also an INFP, but I act more 'J' at work(I think it's my perfectionism kicking in). some characteristics of other types sound like things I do. but overall, I'm INFP. it also helps to learn about all the letters; then you can type other people :D
Myers-Briggs is all about the functions, all about knowing how you think.
You can build yourself in ways you see fit.
I suggest working on your Extroverted Feeling -- it allows you to connect with those close to you, and keeps you from shutting yourself off and focusing on your feelings alone.
I myself am an INFP, so I completely see where you're coming from
Thank you squire! It's kinda been bugging me too: How do I objectively type myself without scewing my future perception of myself?? I think people focus too much on how each type differs from another, and not enough on how the individual differs from the generalizations of their specific type, which is equilly important, otherwise it's like theres some monolithic stamp on your forhead...I think MBTs are like different car layouts (FF, MR etc.) the horsepower is up to you. (intj so they tell me)
You talk in a really similar way that I do, I think. But you have to chill about about the being judged thing, man. And don't think of Myers-Briggs has labels, but as tendencies that exist within people. There is a lot of room for change, as long as you don't use Myers-Briggs as an excuse for the way you are... I guess.
Bro you are probably the coolest INFP I have ever seen..... You're so smart and insightful man, don't worry about what type you are- any type can be great or a failure.... I can tell you 1 thing right now though dude- you will be great, you won't fail! :) i'm ENTP btw
"once a person recognized his or her own personality tendencies, and became aware of the companion truth that not everyone possesses those same tendencies, the path would be cleared for greater self-awareness and a deeper tolerance of the innate differences among people.
Our challenge from a Jungian standpoint is to find out what we are missing, to learn and appreciate the path we have not chosen, and perhaps make it a spiritual quest."
I identify with both INFP and INTP. A key difference is that i don't have a hard time looking at things objectively. In terms of cognitive functions, Fi and Ti seem to switch off alot. Fi comes up when i'm asking myself a question that deals with my morals and whether or not i'm being a good person. Ti takes over when i learn, or i see something unexpected. For the most part, Ti seems to dominate, because i always want to understand, but Fi comes in when dealing with people/myself.
I don't think its impossible to change, I used to identify totally with INTP, but now i see myself shifting towards INFP and INFJ as time goes by. So i don't think its good to restrict yourself to any one type either.
i got infp always. and its like sure i fit pretty good but im just gona do my thing and sometimes see the simularities. BUT I WONT MOLD MYSELF TO THE GROUP THATS KNOWN FOR BEING FULL OF EMOS AND HIPSTERS F**KING KIDS THESE DAYS AND THEIR SMALL PANTS AND FANCY DANCERS HATS
I relate to the "putting on a character" thing you said. I get that too on camera. It probably is the image in your mind. I described it to myself as appearing genuine or not. After thinking about it for a while, I figure that I can't really be pinned down to a specific appearance or way of being... I don't think anybody can.
I've felt this way for a long time. I've recently taken the test; twice by chance. All I know is what I feel, whatever the title be... and I sense that you are too, and makes me feel less alone.
i totally feel you on this issue concerning having to be this way... and making myself fit my pattern. i like to think i'm a logical fellow. but the truth is i am very much a feeler. ugh.. it's a dilemma for me... i don't know if its the case for all INFPs. i'm enjoying for sure watching different INFPs on youtube.. i feel like i'm not alone on some of the most confusing things about myself. :) peace.
well what i like about this test is that we or i didn't see the results until after i took the test, so i did not get to read and choose which one i wanted to be
According to Jung, as people mature and go through life, they will gravitate toward the middle of all spectrums. =] So, eventually, you'll be xxxx....
when i read about my type, i didnt put the label on me, i didnt try to fit in. it set myself free! cause the society try to put you within limits, into the box. and im such a dreamer! as soon i found out, thanks to mbti, that i can do it i became myself!! and.. ive changed from intp to entp. so, ppl can change (experiences, feelings). we are different types within the day at work, school, home.. so keep checking and retesting every now and then for major changes. but i love your type!
Don't fret about being an INFP. Every personality type is different, and has individual strengths and weaknesses. You just have to realize what your strengths are, and build on them; realize what your weaknesses are, and work on them. At the core one will nearly always remain the same. In our cases, INFP. And there's nothing wrong with that. :)
i dont try to make myself more like my type or try to conform to being infp and i know there are plenty of things i need to change. i just am myself, and actually i think even if i were to change a lot i would still be infp. actually i am glad i took the test...i used to think there was something wrong with me, and the mbti helped me understand myself more.

Yes, there are many facets of the human personality that cannot be standardized or "rubricated."
