  • I love how sprinters look extremely healthy and fit while long distance runners look malnourished and weak.

  • if bolt breaks this record,i would be shocked.johnsons without douth the fASTEST 400M RUNNER OF ALL TIME

  • & yet people still from 2011 still can't beeat him. AMAZING . Shows that today , people are outta shape.

  • Usain bolt will break his 400 record just like he did to his 200. Bolt ran 45.25 45.3 at age 17. He ran 20.13 at 16 and 19.93 at 18. Usain bolt is the boss. He will be the greatest 400 runner ever.

  • @adz09ish Instead of the 100 and 200 the 400 is very very hard to train.. he is lazy but fast. I think he wil continue to dominate the 100 and 200 but never brake the johnson time.

  • @amstelveen1 listen bolt will break it, he ran 45.25 at age 17. he is 24 now, so do the math,

  • the commentator's are wayyy too over-excited

  • @phastman1994 i was being sarcastic dude ;)

  • Michael is a class act...always a gentleman...so it's great to see him compete and win.

  • do you think he's on drugs or something??

  • To become a faster sprinter check out sprinterfitness(.)us everything on this site is 100% free. Tips, workouts, videos and more...

    sprinterfitness(.)us

  • @DomRampello Bolt will never come close to the world record in the 400. His personal best is over 2 seconds behind Johnson...he'll might not ever crack 45 seconds, but he's the best short sprinter ever

  • @vyzerr Usain Bolt actually started running the 400m. He had never run the 100m before the world championships in 06, when he does run the 400, it will mos def be faster than 43.19. Usain is the fastest human PERIOD!

  • Man -beast!

  • I see a lot of people talking about Bolt or Wariner, but people shouldn't count out Lashawn Merritt. If anyone takes it, I think it might be him.

  • Bolt vs. Johnson das wäre ein duell aber ich bin mir sicher das bolt ihm wegläuft ;)

  • lol Michel Jackson

  • Usain bolts pb is 45.28 which he ran at 21 years old. What he ran at 17 doesn't matter it is how he improves on it.

  • just cause bolt ran a faster time than johnson when they were younger doesn't mean much

while i recognize the fact that bolt is indeed a sensational athlete, just cause he ran a 45.3 in the 400m at age 17 does not mean that he will drop below 43 at any other age

some people just peak to a certain time and get stuck there, and bolt might run out of endurance once he gets into the really difficult times, like reaching into the 43's

i'm not saying he can or can't, just saying it can't be assumed

  • At 19 years of age, Michael's best time for 400m was 46.26. At 17 years, Usain's ran 45.3 for 400m! Of course, Usain can train to beat Johnson's time; infact, he has to, if he wants to recognised as the greatest runner ever!

  • his best is 45.3 and it was done when he was 21

  • Read this!! ""In his final Jamaican High School Championships in 2003, he broke both the 200 m and 400 m records with times of 20.25 s and 45.30 s, respectively"" In 2003, Usain was 17, indeed, he was probably still 16 when he ran 45.30.

  • pfft it takes that 40 ish seconds for them to run that it takes me only 10 minutes =P

  • hahaha...

  • i believe that Bolt can do about 42.00 if he focus on 400 metres

  • no he cant and never will....usain bolt is explosive and if he would try the 400 meters he would have no more power for the end. That means he have to keep power at the start and use more in the end. so bolt would lose his best ..."the explosvite thing" for things he cant so good and thats probaly the middle or end of a race....otherwise bolt would be also on 400 meters but he knows by himself he cant break nothing there.,

    That why there are 100 & 200 or 200 & 400 meter runners.

  • true, its not the same to run 200m and 100 as 400, its not all about explositivity you need to be able to stay near your max for longer time.

  • yea I kinda agree with you. He would need more strength for the 400 and that would definitely affect his 100/200m speed.

  • dude have you seen his cruising speed? hes so fucking huge that he CRUISED to a WR and olympic victory in the 100m last year. that doesnt happen in sprinting. if he has faster projected times than MJ in the 400 he can break the record.

  • beautiful commentry just before the finish line

  • Absolute Legend!

  • holy shit they look like horses from the top view!!! lmao

  • @MrRice4life lol i thought they were ridding bikes

  • years ago i chose my cell nr to end ...4318 :D

  • the annoncer is so enthusiastic -.-

  • Michael Johnson is a Living Legend ... remember this name : Michael Duane Johnson

  • Theah he goes, theah he goes...

    stupid announcer

  • stared at it for a few seconds like I was an idiot. He finally shook it, thankfully. But then later when I asked him for a picture he just flat-out said "No". Yeah, I don't know what to think about him sometimes anymore. He's still one of the greatest runners of all time, but that's no excuse to act like a big shot everywhere you go. Oh well, what can you do...

  • Yeah BasementChampions I know exactly what you mean. I run track for UT-Tyler and last year we had a meet at UT-Arlington. Michael was there (since he was Jeremy Wariner's mentor. Don't know if he still is or not). But yeah, this guy has been my idol for a super long time, and when I noticed that he was only a few yards away from me I was in a state of total shock at first. I finally snapped back together and went up to shake his hand. I introduced myself to him and stuck out my hand and he just

  • Yeah, stood right next to him. I'm pretty sure that he instructed the body guards to do that (I'm not allowed to SPEAK to him?!?). I could understand if he was being bombarded by people, but I was the only one around him. Not cool. He's still a great runner, though.

  • He came to NikeTown in New York. I politely asked him if he could sign my track club shirt (this was a post 2000 olympics publicity tour) and one of his bodyguards screamed at me ("Do NOT speak to Mr. Johnson!"). Johnson looked right at me and then walked away (I was like 14 years old).

C'mon. Track isn't THAT big in the US and he thinks he's too big time to sign a shirt? Nobody else was even around him.

  • well even though track may noy be THAT popular in the US I would much rather respect the fastest man on the planet either way than someone whos good at that stupid and pointless baseball sport for example.

  • I agree and I'll respect the fastest quarter-miler in the world when he respects his fans.

  • Alot of people dont understand how hard of a sport track and field is. I mean the 400 I run that too and wow it hurts alot on that last 100m. People think its just running in circles, kids at school say that all the time. Theres few people who realize just how great of a sport it is.

  • Amen

  • hell yeah track is the best

  • i run 400m too, last hundred kills me, time u get?

  • ive only done 2 so far in open and the first one I got 55.9, Ive done 4 by 4 though

  • @shawnlux02 thats true i run the 800m for middle school track and it hurts and burns more than anything.

  • @shawnlux02 that last hundred is a killer!!!! an thts what i need to work on lol

  • @shawnlux02 i get that bullshit all the time

  • @shawnlux02 at the end pretty much any race, regardless of distance, you should be hurting the same

  • I dont think Bolt will get the 400m wr because he has no reason to work hard at it. He did a 45.7 this Feb, and hasn't improved much, but he wwill not work at 400m because he is going to try and do better at 100m and 200m- he could go faster at bthose distances, so why bother with the 400m, which he is only very good at, not world class at.

  • why does everyone think that bolt is a junkie he ran a 46s 400m when he was 15 and unless your dad is a dealer then most kids would'nt even know how they work

  • Johnson is the biggest jerk if you meet him in person. I hope Bolt or Wariner gets this record this year.

  • bolt is still improving will have a good shot a his record but wariner is over raced at the moment he should be able to do a 43.30 if takes the next few months easy but they both have a shot at it.

  • True. I figure this would be the year to do it. The season will be longer and there is no pressure to peak for Olympic Trials (not that Worlds aren't a big deal, but c'mon - they don't really compare to the olympics). Wariner says he has been training harder than ever and won't open his season until April.

  • how about the underdog, but still better than wariner, leshawn merritt? he gets my vote and respect. if wariner could get over his 2nd place finish in beijing and not stupidly change coaches because of money during an olympic year, then wariner can have my respect back.

  • Yeah, I lost a lot of respect for Wariner when he pulled that BS. I don't know why, but I wasn't even thinking about Merritt. I was glad he kicked Wariner's ass all over Europe and then in the Olympics. He'll have a good season this year (if MJ's record gets broken, I hope Merritt does it - rather than Wariner).

  • What!? 46s when he was 15? Are you sure? That's really, really fast.

  • i prefer american announcers. they sound excited when they witness history.

  • I can watch this race over and over he's that good.

  • just wait till Usain starts running the 400. he ran a 45.28 as a 17 year old.

  • there is no way usain will break this record itll be at least 20 years before that happens

  • lol, r u serious? You don't think Usain Bolt who, as i stated, ran a 45.28 at the age of 17!!!!! can break the record? C'mon he has 19.3 200m speed, and he used to run the 800 as a teenager back in Jamaica so he has the endurance. Michael Johnson said it himself that if Usain takes the 400m seriously it will only be a matter of time before he breaks the record. But unfortunately, Usain Bolt is quite as enthusiastic about it. just wait though. He says he will give it a shot, and you will see then

  • im not saying u r wrong but i think dont believe that

  • its dumb how michael johnson didnt join the 2000 sydney olympics, why? retired so young

  • god the announcer sounds so bored. Your watching MICHAEL JOHNSON RUN! Have a little excitement lol.

  • no trust me this anouncer is better than that other one

  • amazing and he doesnt take steriods u faggots

  • jealous becos ur polish ass cant acheive wat we have

  • lol all the little stupid countries like poland have to make shit up..he didnt take steroids u fucking faggot...fuck you and fuck poland its a pathetic excuse of a country..poland has like 1 medal for every 100we have thats why hes mad

  • lol idiot ever forever? your a fucking idiot get an education

  • usain bolt is using an unrecognisable supplement which was created in the deep jungle of jamaica. it is a injection into the nerve, it leaves no trace of supplementation. in 10 years or so the news headlines will be abrupt. and usain will be stripped and killed by japanese mafia for no reason.

  • Bolt is a amazing sprinter, but we'll see how he does, it's amazing how an extra 200m at a blistering pace can take out of a person, starts to feel like lead weights on your feet the last 50 meters.

  • im sorry to say this. but watching bolt jog at the very end of races seems too perfect. He seems too good. im not trying to say anything against him. However, if he were to test positive for steroids i wud not be surprised

  • if Bolt was using steroids, he would not make it so blatant by jogging to world records. he does it because he is confident and relaxed in the knowledge of his ability. besides, steroids cannot actually make someone faster, they only increase muscle mass and growth. bolt's astonishing speed is down to his individual technique, and hard work.

  • im not even saying that he is using the steroids. im just saying he looks to good. If hes doing it without performance enhancrs then good for him. if did use them, o well. im not going to make a huge argument bout it. im just saying my opinion

  • no one mentioned that maybe its bcoz he is 6foot 5"...and his stride is very long!so bcoz his so confident he can...

  • The worst thing for Johnson to hear right now is that Bolt is gonna switch to 400m.

Michaels 200m record took 12 years to beat... that's pretty good if u ask me..

Michaels 400m record? Let me tell you. 22nd August 2008 Jeremy Wariner did not beat it, that is to say 43.18 (Michael Johnson) = UNBROKEN...

Let's just see how long Bolts record holds. Probably very long..

  • That is unless bolt beats his own record again

  • agreed about bolt's new record. johnson was a remarkable athlete, and it took a monumental effort by bolt to break his 200m record. no one else will get near the sort of times those two were/are capable of possibly ever. as for johnson's 400m record, that is safe for a very long time having witnessed his apparent successor jeremy wariner today. the legacy continues...

  • bolt is dope. sorry i mean doping. hope that they catch him.

  • u twat, dat beta be a joke. hes been testd lyk 30 times since bein at d olympics, all passed. der4 shut d fuk up.

  • speaka d eeenglish?

  • 1. I wasn't talking to you.

    2. I used shorthand; big fucking deal.

    3. The bottom line is, Usain Bolt is not on steroids.

  • MJ a true legend...I think his 1996 world record in 200m with 19.32 is the best race I've ever seen....I feel happy for Bolt but Johnson remains my hero...

  • Ya verás que pasada le doy con una CBR600

  • i also respect michael phelps... but i dont find it good sooo many disciplines in swimming... there is a discipline for every shit... 100 m, 150 m, 200 m, 400m.. than 10 different styles.... that comes to 1000 competitions... now they should invent new disciplines like 106m butterfly... 127m butterfly.... to have even more gold medalist!!!

    congratulations

  • ive heard that michael johnson masturbates before every match? to raise his testosteron level?

    is that true?

and in off season he masturbates 2-4 times daily to keep testosteron level on high...

    thats some good natural doping

  • tyson gay is gay

    tyson

    gay

  • Phelps is overrated. Chris Hoy raced 18 times and won every race. Phelps raced 18 times and didnt win all. Phelps gets 8 golds, Hoy gets 3. Swimming is just stupid with all the events they get. I think they should cut the swimming schedule by half to make it fairer with other events.

  • Is swimming a harder sport?, giving less time to breath too and water pressure and choking on it is a factor it's not easy to swim. Okay they are all in the same pool swimming but if you are the best at what you do you are the best and that is it.

  • Bolt's records were amazing but people go on about Phelp's like he does the same thing and wons the same races. But what is the difference if Bolt did 400,200,100,100x4 relay,200x4relay 400x400 relay and maybe some hurdles. Is he not allowed to do that many events and does he have that range? Its all relative, by time you do all those races it does take it out of you and Phelps no doubt had to qualify for 8finals and be multiple record breaker. It's down to swimming being harder than running?

  • bollocks

  • what u said is 100% true phelps swam 5 races different strokes then the relays. bolt will go on to win the 200 and i think he should try the 400m to in time, he just seems to cruise his races

  • You guys are all the most retarded people I have ever seen. What Bolt did was no comparison to what Phelps did. Not even close 8 Golds to MAYBE 2-dont care what sport. Bolt was awesome, there is no doubt about it, but it wasnt even close to what Michael Johnson did in the 200m. Johnson beat the world record in Atlanta by .34 of a second. Bolt would need to run a 9.55 to be comparable to that feat.

  • yes it is comparable- there are ten times more events in swimming than track. swimming has so many damn events. you can compare bolt to phelps but we know they won't because of the marketing an all american boy.

  • ther is a comparison. go to a track and run the 100 200 and 400m im wiling to bet you finish all those races maybe in slow times but u finish. now go to a pull and swim the 100,200, butterfly and back stroker im willing to bet u wont even make it back down. swiming is a whole lot harder

  • Yeah, but he beat the world record on the 200m, not 100m, there is less time to make up!

  • no doubt, bolt is good. but u cant hate on wat phelps is doing eithr man. swimming may not be important to u, and hasnt really been to me befr phelps started doing all da sht hes doing. so to say that was boring is crap. swimming requires far more endurance than running too, and requires hella skills. bolt has def redone the sport, but dont hate (althou i see why u say it cause dude below is hatin evn more

  • Michael phelps has done way more then bolt, bolt has only won 1 medal so far and michael phelps as won 8 in this olympics and 13 in total and he has the most gold medals ever

  • 8 gold medals, 8 world records

  • @elreydelmetalobscuro

8 gold medals, 7 world records.

  • That's only your opinion, god damn it.

  • i know i watched it :D

  • no he isnt

  • i would say he did take illegal performance inhancers but never got caught!

  • I wish johnson had someone to really push him to his limits, i think he could easily run faster if he had a rivalry.

  • Hey, im in 10th grade and this is my time for 100m is it any good? 11.01

  • bullshit. if that was your time:

    1) you'd be on the track team for your school.

and 2) you'd know it was good. you wouldn't ask.

  • FYI I was the first 8th grader on the varsity track team in my schools history and i know that the times are good i just want to see how they compare to other people around the world

  • ok, im 8th grade and here are my best times for certain events. tell me if they are any good.

    200.23:65

    400.55:68

    800.2:09.18

    1600.4:50.12

    3200.11:00.03

  • hell yes they are! where u come from?

  • im in western NY. made it to the sectional championships but couldnt keep up with the seniors so no state championships :(

  • umm, it's quite easy to BS on Youtube, so I'll take this with a grain of salt. I have to say it's hard to believe that you could get sprint times like that to go along with very competitive distance times. That 200 is nothing to sneeze at, but it's not superb either. The 400 is a bit slow, even for let's say, varsity state competition, likewise with the 800. The 1600, if true, is pretty impressive, and it would be your best bet. The 3200 is likewise very good.

  • i undersatnd that some of the time are hard to believe. my 200 isnt going to get any better cuz i was in top shape for that. my 400 is maxed out. my 800 and my 1600 are the ones that im workin on the most. and i have proof of my times if you want them

  • If you're competing I don't think there's anything hard to believe there. Your 400 and 800 times are very comparable to what I used to run when I was around 16. Never took running seriously, never trained much at all, just put my hand up when a race was on and for athletics days, etc. My 800 times were quicker and my 400 time was about that. I can't remember my sprint times (100/200) but I was more a long distance runner anyway (>800). I remember running 59s 400m when completely unfit.

  • see the difference is that i take it very seriously. i never cared that i was 13 goin up against 18 year olds. i wanted to be the best that i could. 4:50 was my best mile but that easily could have been 4:45 if i had known that my split time b4 the last lap was 3:30. i just want to know how fast i can go. where i max out

  • I claim BS

  • look for jeremy wariner to take the world record along with the gold in this year's olympics

  • He won't get the WR this year. What a load of bullshine. He has to make up 0.28 in his personal best. That's too much. Of course, I'll eat my words if he does. But I doubt it.

  • I think I'll post a bullshit comment on how much time it takes me to run a given distance.

  • Completed his portfolio! thats a classic. MJ a legend

  • hey dick suck you cant fuckin run a 47 or 48. what happened you ran a 47 then woke up from your god damn dream! you would be getting full rides to division one schools and nike would be offer you 6 figures if you could run those times at your age.

  • you don't know what you're talking about. 47 is 4 seconds away from the world record. it's not like they're 14 and getting 43.50 or something. look it up. madd high school kids get 47 and 48.

  • i agree. the kid who won state championships for NY ran a 48.6

  • Thats really good man.. im 14 and my best so far is 48.35:) im really happy with it

  • Woops shit, i meant 47.62 :( sorry guys lol

  • I do 400M in 43.62 (im 15, thats my all time best at the moment)

  • bullshit

  • the commentator didnt sound to excited

  • he called it a superlative run, what more do u want?

  • 12 Years old running a 9.34 100m, no way in hell. A 12 year old body could not do that, even with the help of steroids.

  • im 15 as well and I call Bullshit on the fact that you can run the 400m in less than 40 seconds... 400 ft. is a more likely but the 400m bull... my times are (after pulling both hip flexors, out 95% of season) 59.7 (indoor), 57.3 (outdoor)

  • im 14 and my best is 53 seconds

  • Bullshit!!!

  • iambenforlife - I don't want to call you a liar but it's strange how your 5000 metre time is literally faster than your mile personal best.

  • i think he can outrun a car

  • He probably doesn't hit 45 km/h, so it would have to be driving quite slowly...

  • yea "iambenforlife"..if u run all those tyms u wud be varsity in everything..distance runners dont have sprinting speed..sprinters dont have distance runners endurance..plus ur 15 and ur supposibly running ly kdat..yea sumtin is rong..and a 3000m in 8:53.04?..so u wud pretty much run 2 miles in 9:30..it takes the average person 35 seconds to run a 200m..yo just join the olympics......

  • im 15 and i run it 60 secs

  • you have 14:15 in 5000m and only 8:53 in 3000m.somethings wrong here.and you are only 15??????????lol...

  • they are all good except the 10k try doing more distance. you seem like a good sprinter

  • i can believe the 1500 and 400 times but the rest just scream bullshit to me

  • hey fatboyslim im 14 and i run a 11.6 but im in the U.S

    my 400 is 52.5

  • im 14 and in year/grade 9 and i dont 11.1 at english schools and im 3rd fastest in england.

  • dud you go to the recent games? iprobably saw you on sky sports.

i went to the 92/93 games for javelin

  • My best time 400meters is 1.01 and 100meters 12.4

  • Is it me, or is Michael Johnson the ORIGINAL greased up deaf guy???

"You're never gonna catch me - forget about it - you're wasting your time!!!"

    Amazing sprinter.

  • could that announcer have downplayed that amazing race any more?

  • was the official time 43.18?

  • i´m 17 and run the 400 mt in 51 seconds, i think is good

  • yes that is very good. im 17 and i run high

    48's.

  • im 16 nd run it low 48's high 47's

  • hes a legendary runner

  • The greatest sprinter

  • wow. this commentator is very enthusiastic...

  • hahahah.

  • My time was 52 this year

  • hw old r u

  • Im 16

  • r u american?

  • actually I was born in Canada, my mom is Canadian my dad is American. I live in the US now.
