3.30-4.43 is such a great closing section. Such poise, such power, such mystery. The eyes darting at 4.05 and what a gorgeous smile at 4.31. I suppose that the song is a mix between funk and ambient.

Simply one of a kind. There never was anyone like her before she came along, and none like her now. Listening to her music can take one on a fabulous journey. As for her looks, I think she is still a very beautiful woman. The world of music was blessed to have Kate in it.
Remember those early videos in the 1980s? Kate's fine form was the focus; her exaggerated facial expressions & eccentric choreography completely mezmerized me. We can always return to these youthful masterpieces any time. Now, with her more mature form, she has shifted the focus & changed the style to reflect a more mellow sensibility & wisely so. I'm just a couple of years older than Kate & we're both heading away from middle age. Her career continues to inspire me.

I was about 18 or 19 when I saw the first version of the video of Running Up that Hill, and I was taken immediately. Never heard of her before that time. I collected all her albums then, and continued to buy her new releases. My favorite was Hounds of Love and the the rare B sides of the singles she released that year.

With Aerial, she saves much of the rocking out for the title song at the end. King of the mountain is more of a moody rocker (but in the Woohs towards the end I'm reminded of the song Hounds of Love).
Kate has proved time and again that it is possible to write engaging music about subject matter outside of the norm. Even when she deals with familiar themes, she does it in an imaginative and unpredictable manner. A true artist.

Simply one of a kind. There never was anyone like her before she came along, and none like her now. Listening to her music can take one on a fabulous journey. As for her looks, I think she is still a very beautiful woman. The world of music was blessed to have Kate in it.

Remember those early videos in the 1980s? Kate's fine form was the focus; her exaggerated facial expressions & eccentric choreography completely mezmerized me. We can always return to these youthful masterpieces any time. Now, with her more mature form, she has shifted the focus & changed the style to reflect a more mellow sensibility & wisely so. I'm just a couple of years older than Kate & we're both heading away from middle age. Her career continues to inspire me.

lyrically this is great. love the arrangement. But for some reason the BEST part is when she start's gettin all soulful with the "elvis are you hiding somewhere, lookin' like a happenin'(happier?) man" First five times I heard this track I didn't connect with it and suddenly one day I wake up and BAM i'm connecting with it. Music is so amazingly fucking crazy like that. WOOOO I also just noticed for the first time, she really makes subtle vocal movements everywhere... adds flavor to the soup

I remember hearing this on the radio (probably one of the few plays/reviews she got on mainstream when Aerial was released) and I was just effing transfixed. I couldn't move. I thought 'WTF is THAT! I gotta get me some!'.
But I didn't. I've missed years of her stuff.
I love the way this builds, I love the way she looks in the video, the hair inserts, the whole thing. I play it repeatedly. Yeah, yeah ...... I've lost it.
And I'm not an Elvis fan. But it JUST DOESN'T MATTER!

I bought this record and didn't like it....2 years later I have the ipod on shuffle and "Sunset" comes on and I am totally sucked in. I have to say Aerial is genius...not all of it...some of it I don't like or listen to at all but my God there is some unbelievable stuff on that album...I call it her "Tusk" ( Fleetwood Mac reference)

When Kate was flavour of the month in her youth she had no time for the so called Celebrity culture ,okay shes put on weight and mellowed over the years but hey,im sure we have all seen better days in our youth,would you prefer her to have gone down the plastic surgery route to stay looking like she did in 1980.as far as I am concerned she can do no wrong and her voice is still as sweet as ever, shes as beautiful now as she was then to these old eyes and her talent is beyond question. wonderful

I was about 18 or 19 when I saw the first version of the video of Running Up that Hill, and I was taken immediately. Never heard of her before that time. I collected all her albums then, and continued to buy her new releases. My favorite was Hounds of Love and the the rare B sides of the singles she released that year.

@moonmaidens With the part of Hounds of Love that Cloubusting was on, Kate Bush was giving her own spin on the 'big production' sound that was popular in the mid 80s. With Aerial, she saves much of the rocking out for the title song at the end. King of the mountain is more of a moody rocker (but in the Woohs towards the end I'm reminded of the song Hounds of Love).

Kate has proved time and again that it is possible to write engaging music about subject matter outside of the norm. Even when she deals with familiar themes, she does it in an imaginative and unpredictable manner. A true artist.

@bryngOneOn If by "they" you mean the record company marketing gurus then yes, perhaps you have a point... but I'm sure this vid was entirely Kates conception and idea, if you think Kate is going to be dictated to by a bunch of record company executives, then you really don't know her at all. Kate calls all the shots on her music and if any exec tried anything of that sort she'd tell them where to get off, frankly. Her total artistic freedom is one of the things that makes her unique.
