Thanks. the engine was attached to the wood thrust stand with some iron wire. It should have easily hold the engine in place but I didn't acount for the heat the wire would collect. There was a 2nd piece of wire wrapped around the tailpipe that prevented it flom flying of straight away. Thrust is 26.4 pounds - very close to the theoretical maximum for this size/ formfactor
I'd say you reacted very fast and smart. Jumped out of the way, shut off the propane, put the air compressor up right and even turned the leaf blower off. normally a video like this would attract youtube scum comments but glad it hasn't. anyway nice Jet and what everyone else has said glad your are ok!
HAHA! lmfao! crazy stuff man :)

wow the engine is enpresive but the rig sucks 50 hours building engine and 5 minutes making rig thats like taping a dead goat to a rolls royce.

I'm impressed with how well it ran. Pity it broke loose, but hey, that's an easy fix.

Holy shit! That could have been bad.
How was it attached to the rig? looks like the end of it lifted up and it just broke loose.
On another note, the thrust seems impressive.
