I just wanted to say, Mark, you uploaded this video 6 days before I left for Japan for 5 months, and at that moment I was still in dilemma whether I should go or not. My parents didn't want me to go, but if I didn't, I would have had to quit my studies (I study Japanese). But then I watched your video, and it took a great part in convincing me to go anyway. And I'm so glad I did, it was an amazing experience. I still haven't thanked you for that. So thank you. Thank you so much! :)
Hey I have a request. I was wondering if you could draw a clenched fist from the side view. you know as if someone were to punch the ground out of anger. could you draw the arm attached to it maybe? By the way I really hope Japan is okay. I love Japan. And I'm glad none of your relatives got injured.
I know the feelings so well. I am from the Southern United States and live in the North now. Every time there is a Thunder alert, and the warnings, which you really do not have with Earthquakes, My Heart trembles in Hope and Fear. I am glad your family is safe and am glad for all of us that help out, anyway we can. I Celebrate the lives of those no longer with Us.
I am thinking of taking a manga Career. But I don't know if I should. Is there any tips you can give me? I am trying to think of Ideas for a manga and I think I have one. if there is any Tips you have for my Manga please comment Because I am not sure of it.
So 40 people hate Anime(Bleach, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, One piece..etc..etc), Sushi, Manga, Nintendo, toyota, Ramen and a whole lot of other stuff..
You sound so young though! My school made 1,000 paper cranes for Japan. To explain, theres a legend that syays if you make 1,000 paper cranes, then you get one wish and it will come true :D we also donated 5,000+ dollars too :D
My class did the same things. It was quite awesome. We made over 1000 paper cranes. I told my teacher about the legend and thats why we did it. After we made all of them we sold them at school to raise money for japan and we donated all the money to the Red Cross to go to Japan. =3
Glad to see your okay Mark, i've been looking for your video on this assuming you'd one and never found it until now, thanks for the update, i really enjoyed ur pictures thanks for sharing :D
I am making a comic 2 girls who live in japan and they r close friends but when the tsunami struck the girls mothers became enemies and the girls try to keep together, its a series to! do u want to see? i'm making videos of it soon
@TheRomancesearcher I'd like to see that. When do you plan on putting the videos up? I'm working on something myself but it's a long way from being complete. I need to touch up on my drawing. i wish for your family to be safe, nice drawings, memoreis, dont give a damn about people that deslike this, i wish you and your family a safe life :)
Mark - your Japanese life sounds pretty similar to mine!! lol I'm also an English teacher here in Japan since 2007 - living in the Saitama area! :D It's been fun and you're so right... all of the people I've met here are so welcoming and nice. I love living here and wouldn't trade it for anything.... I hope everyone keeps helping out the Northwest that was hit hard! Thanks for this video - loved seeing your photos! And I think I'd describe okonomiyaki as a type of savory pancake?? XD
Thank you for sharing this important part of your life with us.

this is so touching, i can hear you sniffling in the voice over, and it makes me sad to hear of all the people who lived in this area, and that you saw them, and connected with them.
I was in Japan during the earthquake, i was visiting my mother and grandparents with my brother when it hit. I was terrified during the time, so much of a shock that I felt a little numb emotionally. I am now sensitive to shaking, not just the ground but even my chair. Seeing this video reminded me of the experience and the tragedy of the earthquake. Just hearing that people's families are OK makes me feel better. Thank you, Mark, for making this video and all of your other videos.

When it first happened I made jokes... I feel like a terrible person now and I sincerly hope God will forgive me and I wish the best to everyone in Japan.
You know, I really hate it how people only care about the franchises from Japan, and not the actual Japanese. It's people like you that make the world better. I can see that your life is a good one; it's really nice of you to spend it helping people. I mean, it's like you've been a teacher most of your life.
Though I have never physically been there, Japan has been one of my favorite places for years. Not just because of manga or anime, but also because of the beauty of the landscapes, the people, the culture and the history of the country.
My prayers are with the people who had to go through (and are still going through) this tragedy. God be with you.
Japans a awesome place, i feel horrible about what happened there, I always wanted to live in japan, tho my plans may be delayed abit. I am really glad to hear your wifes family is ok!.
I've watched your videos for a long time and I'm glad you didn't 'abandon' your youtube account!
I feel horrible about Japan. I think we can't understand this disaster. It's... so much more than terrible, there are no words to describe all the people who died, and even worse - all the people who lost everything, consider their family, home, friends, work.
But Japan is a strong nation, fortunatey. And the rest of the world has to help them.

i have a friend on youtube here from japan. durring the earthquakes i was really concerned about her. but thankfully she's doing ok and posting things on yahoo which is a good sign :). Japanese people have such a wonderful culture and peaceful society. i love them & pray for them!
My care and love goes out to you, your family, and Japan, I KNOW Japan will get through this, Japan is a strong country and whenever it experiences hard times like this, it gets right back up and is even stronger than before.
I was shocked by your appearance.....SHOCKED!....I for some reason thought you were a brown/grey beared heavey set white male. short in stature. I think i have been a youtube subscriber of yours for atleat two years, i think. I fell like i was watching Milly Vanilly when you kept refrencing yourself. I was like that Voice doesn't belong.......
any how thank you for the informative videos you have posted may I ask how you video from above?
Thank goodness your family wasn't really affected by the tsunami! (my uncle had just moved away from japan before the huge tsunami hit… so I'm very happy about that) My prayers go to japan! Oh and by the way okonomiyaki (sp?) = Japanese pizza. Sortof… Anyway it's good.
I'm glad you and your family and your wife's family are alright, Mark. Thank you for your video. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of Japan.
I was so shocked to hear what happened to Japan, I used to live there when I was really little and it was so great to grow up there, I hope it gets better over there.
Dude, that makes me so flippen sad that hapened :,( who is gonna make our cars? Who is gonna make our anime and manga? Who is gonna make our video games? Who's gonna give us pokemons D:
Seroisly, thousands of people died. This is some serious mess, HELP JAPAN!
Cont. I'm not the largest naruto fan) and there's more to the story but I'm just tired of typing. If anyone else could give me tips, that'd be WONDERFUL, thank you.
Hey mark, I'm 12 and I've kinda want to draw anime and manga like you, so I was wondering if you could give me some tips, okay, so my title is called "Brush Strokes" and what it's about is a 14 year old girl named Kiko Takiyami who attends Shinto high school is given a paintbrush given to her by her grandmother on her 15th birthday. The paintbrush has mystical powers and can draw anything to life. (I know a lot of people are saying, "Corny!" and "oh dats Naruto!" by the way, I'm not the largest
in a way theres nothing wrong with disliknig this video cause theres nothing to like about people dieing. That saying im not gonna like or dislike this video.
That first picture with was taken a year before I was born ( 20th May 1993 no joke )
I am big fan of the japanese culture both present and past and to hear that this happened it just shocked me, at first I refused to believe that this had happened,it's hope that the people of Jaan will recover and come come back stronger.
@filip10zgorelec Would you still hail Japan if they didn't have anime or manga? Really, I'm tired of seeing comments like this. I have family living in Japan (they are safe) and it seems most people only care of the products that come out of it and not really about anything else.
Hail the beauty of the land, hail the wonderful people, and hail the culture.
Awesome, ur kids are wasian(white and asian) just like me lol

Thank goodness your family wasn't really affected by the tsunami! (my uncle had just moved away from japan before the huge tsunami hit… so I'm very happy about that) My prayers go to japan! Oh and by the way okonomiyaki (sp?) = Japanese pizza. Sortof… Anyway it's good.

I'm glad you and your family and your wife's family are alright, Mark. Thank you for your video. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of Japan.

Cont. I'm not the largest naruto fan) and there's more to the story but I'm just tired of typing. If anyone else could give me tips, that'd be WONDERFUL, thank you.
ichigokurosaki117 11 months ago
Hey mark, I'm 12 and I've kinda want to draw anime and manga like you, so I was wondering if you could give me some tips, okay, so my title is called "Brush Strokes" and what it's about is a 14 year old girl named Kiko Takiyami who attends Shinto high school is given a paintbrush given to her by her grandmother on her 15th birthday. The paintbrush has mystical powers and can draw anything to life. (I know a lot of people are saying, "Corny!" and "oh dats Naruto!" by the way, I'm not the largest

I am big fan of the japanese culture both present and past and to hear that this happened it just shocked me, at first I refused to believe that this had happened,it's hope that the people of Jaan will recover and come come back stronger.

@filip10zgorelec Oh really? How come?
TheLazysketcher 10 months ago
@filip10zgorelec Would you still hail Japan if they didn't have anime or manga? Really, I'm tired of seeing comments like this. I have family living in Japan (they are safe) and it seems most people only care of the products that come out of it and not really about anything else.
Hail the beauty of the land, hail the wonderful people, and hail the culture.
