  • Not that I'm trying to be rude, but if u don't mind, what are u getting paid and what do the big guys make? I'm 14 years old and am very interested in the stock market. Hopefully this could be my career. I wouldn't just be in it fir the money, I find the market very intresting

  • @theotherguy245689 you'll only be a "big guy" if you have a lot of money. If you wanna make money in the markets you need some capital to start with, so you'll have to work first.

  • @TradingTutor oh ok that gives me more idea thanks.

  • @theotherguy245689 When you still have a small capital base you'll want to do intraday trading. It's much much harder than trading daily/weekly, but if you study and make a good trading plan you'll be able to get like 10% or more each month.

  • @theotherguy245689 the guy giving the tour makes a commission off of every order he takes, the specialist (the guy who takes the orders) makes money off of the spread (the difference between the bid price and ask price).

  • Good video. Helped me about the conception about a broker's job.

  • From 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM M-F, I lose some days, I win on most days. Trading isn't gambling, no matter how many anti-capitalist socialists say. Even through the recession, I have gained money. Even though I only play with a few thousand dollars, the money I trade with helps every company I buy.

  • @StonemanPete17 and thats the magic of investing!

well said. i guess you could say options is gambling. since your not directly partnering with a company.

  • the floor broker earn the commission from their clients. The specialist is the guy he asked sitting on the chair.

  • how much do these guys earn?

  • also how much money do the floor traders earn?

  • @vishaal100 differences with each trader. Everyday, in Forex alone (so not even stock etc.) there's 3 trillion USD traded. Today, I made 21 dollar within 15 minutes when news came out. =]

  • is it true there is no trading floor in the London Stock Exchange? please answer

  • The NYSE is known as an "Open Outcry"system, where a lot of SE's around the world use purely electronic systems now, hence no need for a physical trading floor.

  • the devils playground!

  • NYSE AMEX NASDAQ ))))))))))))))

  • haha they said that bizz was bad prior to Ocotober 2008 wow.

  • Thanks, Ted...great tour!

  • shit dog, and many there have lost a lot of money and how many more will lose

  • The NYSE, baby

  • Awesome

  • Very informative, thank you

  • The nyse is dead. With all this lame electronic dominated algo trading, floor brokers are a thing of the past. Of course it takes you a week to complete an order these days in a thin stock.

  • gambling is wagering on a game of chance... researching, being educated, and calculating your decisions trading is completely different... it's like playing Poker, Poker is technically not gambling since players with higher skill in the game will win more consistently than those less-skilled with the game. Trading is the same basic idea, those with more skill win more consistently, and when they lose, they know how to lose very little.

  • Thanks for sharing your world to me. appreciate it so much

  • 4o clk go home. sweet!

  • ITs gambling if u get greedy made 28g last month lost 80% of it last week

  • Comment removed

  • wow you must fail at reading comprehension

  • Comment removed

  • It is gambling if you're ignorant.

  • No it is not if you know what you are doing. you must not be in the game if you say that. watch CNBC or read a book.

  • Trading stocks is only investing if that's what you make it. If you're one of these people that just throws your money out there with no research or any clue what you're doing, then you are gambling! Good traders make educated trades based on fundamentals, patterns, technicals, etc.

  • yup!

  • Oops, I meant to say "Trading stocks is only GAMBLING..."

  • we sell side bastards (M&A investment bankers) do all the grunt work, while traders (buy side) are more laid back

  • Look at the montage of photos that are listed under "NYSE trading floor, Pamela's Pix.

this spans 18 years when the floor was run by people and a great place to be.

  • LOL, ye that's true. when my stock is not doing well, I just want the trading to close early

  • Good video. Nice summary on how a broker's job. There aren't many videos like this where we get to see the floor up close like that.

  • brokerinvestor, The NYSE is 90% electronic today, the floor is almost dead.

  • Craztbob, you fucking socialist, The market didn't fuck us, the govermment did it, fannie mae, freddie mac, the freaking FED, greenspan, mortgages brokers, Real state frauds, Paulson, even the public has their own share of fault at this, buying shits beyond their pockets.

  • i thought nyse was all electric. whats with the slow brokers walking around?

  • really nice, thanks for posting!

  • You have know idea what your talking about. We the traders are not the fault of the problems we had in 2008. Paulson and Bernake have alot to do with what happened in our markets.
