May make things okay for now - but very soon not so "okay." China won't be happy as aren't we debasing our currency? I mean, is there any other outcome?

the Euro is massively overvalued right now. The EU is more than likely going to go to the wall as countries decide to help themselves. Old Europe as it is known has made it clear they are not going to bank roll the newer members, such as former soviet states. So my prediction is we are going to see the EU weaken and the Euro will inevitably take a bit hit. Time to start buying gold bars I think.

Venezuela, along with Iran, trades oil in Euros correct? Also, Venezuela does not participate in the cental banking cartel choosing to utilize their own central banking system. Correct? What about Iran? Does anyone know? [I do know that the first thing the U.S. did upon "Mission Accomplished" was to install a central bank in Iraq - thus gaining financial control of their economy]. If I'm correct, then that would explain much of the saber-rattling going on between the U.S. and Venezuela / Iran.

At the present moment? No. The prices of gold would skyrocket (really skyrocket), with one consequence among others: rendering it impossible to use gold for industrial usage. This said, cling to your old computer parts, they might be worth gold so to speak...

I am curious why China and Russia are leaning on the Euro, considering the Euro has many of the same, if not worse, systemic problems as the Dollar. There are many who claim the Euro may collapse this year, as will the dollar.
I can see China trying to step in with the Yuan as the replacement reserve currency for the world, but why are they jumping from one sinking ship to another?
