  • @Eminor31415

Always an independent character meets he can not join a command squad. Read your facts

  • put in a chaplin in with lighting calw turmes

  • WOOOOOOO templars all the way

  • emperors champion has the spicial rule:

    allway's an idenpenden charakter...

theres nothing to argue. he cannot join anything anywhere, never. he must stand, allways, alone...

liked the clip though >:-) i'me building a Black Templars army, currently, but havend played them, or against them, yet. actually so the antisipation is great.

  • great review ;0)

  • I am new to this. but i play dark angels can he be an independent character w/ power sword and combat sheild. a chaplain and a standard bearer all indepents. how many points would the champion be. thanks :)

  • Focus ?

  • I remember back in 4th edition when I took on a caenifex with my EC and won.

  • Doesn't a Grey Knights Force Weapon give them +2 Strength as well? so his sword really isn't special when a whole troops choice can get it =(..

  • God, GW better hurry up and redo the Black Templars Codex. With all the new special characters like the Sanguinor and Lelith Hesperax (one of the new Dark Eldar!), what used to be a powerful CC army will get pulverized by some of these characters alone. Even the Emperor's Champion will get easily slain by these new monsters!

  • see furious charge m8, does it effect emperors champion if the squiad hes in has it? thanks

  • does the emperos champion still have the option to use his sword as a power fist or a power wep? not played in ayears but i want to go back =)

  • ur base is bigger than 25 mm so its illegal

  • ive not played in years! but 7 years ago i mail ordered a emperors champion special edition, looks epic compared to the new one;)

  • Fritz can you send me a link to the land raider video i can find it anywhere?

  • this is really good

  • You can't assault out of a razorback.

  • if the razor back didnt move, yes you can

  • Champion can't be HQ choice

  • @baelm what does he count as then

  • hes an HQ but he doesnt use a slot in the HQ, so you can still pick 2 HQ and the emperors champion

  • Im assuming you need a second HQ (technically 1st?) to make an army legal?

  • no he IS a HQ, he just doesnt count against the army chart

  • Comment removed

  • FOR THE EMPEROR!

  • your vids are awesome but you should get a better camera so we can see your awesomeness

  • Emperor Champion reminds alot of the Space Marine regular Captain with relic blade.... except the 2 wounds.. which is 3.

  • get sum focuz, i wana see some detail

  • Maximum is Str 10.

  • plus the weapon skill of 6 is bitchin'. he's prolly the best single character in 40k

  • rubbish. Prince Yriel is better for about the same cost. Loads of characters in his price range is better.

  • I don't even know who the fuck that is, but I still like the Emperor's Champion. I mean, he looks badass!

  • you are lost

  • the Black Sword only boosts his strength to 6. How'd you get strength 12?

and he gets 3 (emphasized) attacks on the charge, plus dual wielding so on the charge, he gets 4 attacks, strength 6, no armour saves. btw, why are we all forgetting about the Armour of Faith?!

  • im guessing he is refering to penetrating vehicles thus he cant hit at max at S12

  • sorry, I don't quite understand. could you try explaining in a different way? Thanks :D

  • Well, If he is Strength 6, when rolling to penetrate vehicle armour you roll 1D6 then add your strength. The highest you can possibly achieve is 12, so he would be hitting tanks at strength 12 on a good day.

  • @RepublicCustoms coz his wep can be used as a power fist or wep

  • @Adrian890722 really? My codex says that it's always a strength 6 power weapon. Technically a one-handed relic blade

  • i would rather have captain or chapter master than the EC.

they both have same statlines, except captains have 3 wounds

  • lol

  • ur forgetting the special rules... like

    Preferd enemy<3 termies with l-claws = OWNAGE

  • Doesn't the Champion have to choose between two handing his sword or having the sword/pistol combo?

  • EC has no choice with regards to wargear.

The Black Sword is NOT a Relic Blade. It is a Power Weapon that gives +2S to his hits, so he gets 2 base attacks +1 in CC for his bolt pistol, and +1 for charging = 4.

This is equivalent to a Captain/Chapter Master using a Relic Blade, as they get 3 base attacks + 1 for charging = 4 strength 6 attacks.

EC + Captain with RB BOTH strike at WS6, I5, and have 4x S6 attacks, AND both have 4+ invuln saves. EC has 2 wounds, as opposed to 3 on a Captain.

  • no.

  • no, the weapon is not considered 2hd

  • No it's not. You can have the Black Sword (which you must have) and he has a bolt pistol.

  • @ninjamonkey88 nope. The black sword is pretty much a one-handed relic blade.

  • Why is your EC on a Terminator base?

  • its not a terminator base, its just a bigger one, no offence but that was a pretty stupid question.....

  • No it wasnt, the size of the base looks like that of a Terminator sized base. No offense but that was a pretty stupid response . . .

  • who knows, maybe fritz thought it looked better.

  • Emperor's Champion cannot lead a COMMAND SQUAD. He is still an independant character and can join other units.

  • Comment removed

  • can u use normal tactical squads for black templar

  • No, unless you use an allying Space Marine unit. Templars use Crusader Squads, which are the equivalent.

Templars do not have Librarians or Devastator Squads, either.

  • @subaru84

    which really sucks

  • what deos prefered enemy do?

  • Preferred Enemy allows you to re-roll your hits in close combat (unless you're attacking a model without WS). It does NOT allow you to re-roll wounds.

  • @subaru84

He was talking about a pair of lightning claws (which allow you to re-roll wounds)

    + preferred enemy

  • looks really well painted that bud, especially the shoulders, the gold trim looks good its just a shame about the camera its quite blurry !

  • i have costimased my company campion from command squad to empiors campion pretty easy

  • Huh? Emperor's champion is an independant character- per 5th Ed rules he can join a unit. 5 man marine squad + EC goes in a razorback.

  • @WayOfSaimHann Not to be a douche but in the codex it says that: "The Emperor's Champion always fights as an independent character and may never be attached to a Command squad" so he can't be attached to a squad of any type, it doesn't however mention anything to do with starting off in a land raider or razorback... whatever you want. What I am a little hazy on however is whether you can put a separate independent character in the same tank as another squad... any enlightenment would be useful.

  • @guitargenius1234 He fights as an IC and can't join a command squad, but he can join another squad like terminators, or the marine squad in the razorback as long as there is room. So he works just like a regular IC. In the case of the vid, he started joined to the squad in the razorback.

  • @WayOfSaimHann This is one of the ONLY reasons why fielding Sword Brethren (BT Veteran squad basically) ever makes sense as they can basically work as a roundabout command squad. Still SB aren't great. I prefer to run the Emperor's Champion along with Helbrecht in a horde squad of 10 marines + 10 neophytes and walk/run them behind tanks, LRCs etc. Also, since Command Squads are ridiculously expensive once you kit them out anyways, it's not a big deal that EC can't go with a CS.

  • i am sorry he has the rule 'always an idependant caracter' same as in 4th edition, the rule is self explanatory, he also has the 'challange' rule from the 4th edition but it is now called 'slayer of champion' which means he automatically can attack any independant charater in the same combat which will also prevent anyone outside the duel injuring him or the enemy, this also decdes the outcome of the combat

  • @moff617 The codex says that he cannot join "Command Squads" not he cant join a marine squad. Plus why would it have in the next section "maintain coherency with any unit he has joined". For a verteran you need to read your codex better

  • its kinda hard to surprise a "veteran" player with springing an emperor champion out of a vechile becuase if your playing black tempers they are expecting 1 and probably in a few turns they will be positive which transport he is in based on how you are playing. =) but kinda good idea thanks.

  • umm are people able to do that like put the emperours champion in a space marine army cause iam not so sure and i might take your advidce and put the emperours champion in my army list but if is not aloud plz inform me right away guys

  • lovely :D

chaos marine tactics would be awesome!!!

  • Good thing about Emp Champ. Is that he is a free HQ choice. Put him With High Marshal Helbrect and a Chaplain and they tend to mop up the playing field.

  • your tactics rock

  • I love the emperor champ he is my pride and joy of my army. and most people don't think about the bolt pistol he carries.

If you get lucky with the shot and rolling in cc that could be a possible 5 guys with one dude.

  • this fucker killed my 7 Chaos plague(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) marines.....well mick (my oponent) was very lucky on rolls but still 7 plauge marines....

  • Emperor's champ gets the Artificer Armour and Relic blade for free. Codex has to pay 45 points for both.

  • This is making me, I may buy the BT codex so I can flip flop between codex and BT marines :D

  • Thank you, SaimHann, for these tactics! I just so happen to use a custom chapter based on the BTs, and I use the Emperor's Champion! :D

  • Thanks! A lot of guys have been asking for marine tactics and my thoughts on them- hope it help you guys win games!

  • I'll message you. When I start up SM in a month or so I might start tactic vids on them....

  • fritz i really like yur tactica vids. Always really well done and thought out. thanks for sharing.

  • great videos man, but a point to make...

The new marine codex was not just a nerf to ICs. It is closer to how GW intended generic marines to be played. It's all about the standard marine with that dex. Standard marines who slip easily between move and shoot tactics and defensive tactics.

That's why there's still a very valid choice of Black Templar, Blood Angles, Dark Angels and Space Wolves. Those are meant to be the ecception to the rule of Guilliman's combat doctrines.

  • so many black templar vis only one night jk these are awesome man keep it up

  • always makes me laugh is my friends emperors champion can never put down my warboss

  • i put my EC against my friends Bloodthirster... got destroyed. Put one wound on the BldThstr. Then i used my decked out Marshall and almost put that overpowered under priced Bloothirster to sleep
