Personally I have never understood how HP was been labelled a childrens story... Don't get me wrong, I see how it can appeal to kids, but it deals with a lot of themes that you normally see in stories meant for an older audience... As far as which is better, I have never been able to compare these two... It would be like comparing a sports car and a gun...

Alright... this is a debate. POTC is to keep me neutral. I am a huge fan of both! Both are absolutely fantastic, inspired by lands and times in the UK. Both have brought a lot to my life and being able to say that I have lived both worlds gives me great happiness. To those that put down or don't listen... you've missed out on a whole other experience

I think Harry Potter is certainly the film or series of my generation. Although I am huge fan of both! Really! Harry Potter offered me more than the Lord of the Rings did.

Nothing against JK, as personally I think she 1 of the greatest authors of our time and although I may not like how she did some things in the last 2 books. I'm still a big fan of HP, it was thanks to her that I learned to enjoy reading so much. But still when compared to a giant like LOTR, HP doesn't stand a chance, the films had some of the grestest battle scenes and special effect ever, hell the last movie is 1 of only 3 films that has won 11 Academy Awards and thats the most any film has won
HP is a great, compelling, and creative story with lots of character development and great messages and probably one of the best displays of creativity in this modern era, but to me LOTR just has so much more and is just a beautiful piece of literature that doesn't miss out on anything.
But when comparing both movies, LOTR absolutely DESTROYS HP, I think really the movie makers of HP really failed at living up to what the book really was, instead LOTR was just a masterpiece like the book

@arle0127 Sauron and Gandalf are of the same race. Therefore the power forging the ring would have been the same if not higher in power. Also, his power is limited in human form. On top of that, Demi-gods or gods in general are still not immune to temptation, which is why Gandalf did not take the ring in the the fellowship.
Guy's its as simple as comparing Goku to Naruto.... even if u think Naruto is a better series... theres no dount Goku would destory him.... In Characters in Harry potter are so overpowered that they can do things almost instantly and kill you... Dumbledore would destroy Gandalf... simple as that.

Simple observation, HP fans tend not to be as aggressive as LOTR fans. This could be down to the fact that the HP fans are children or at the very least young teens. Please, please, please mind your language and reactions to each other. Both films are great and both have legions of devoted fans to prove it. @knightofjustic but it is also way too original... the world... there are a few creatures that are from other myths such as Wizards, Elves, and Dwarves but he also changed them up most see elves as short merry folk he made them tall skinny and bold, he also had worgs and he did create orcs, not goblin but orcs, Naz'gul, Witch King, Wraiths (he did not exactly create but he did mold and shape into his image) hobbits, Uruk Hai (or however it's spelled) he did create an entire world

Alright... this is a debate. POTC is to keep me neutral. I am a huge fan of both! Both are absolutely fantastic, inspired by lands and times in the UK. Both have brought a lot to my life and being able to say that I have lived both worlds gives me great happiness. I confess! I was upset when I didn't get my Hogwarts letter when I was 11.
I think Harry Potter is certainly the film or series of my generation. Although I am huge fan of both! Really! Harry Potter offered me more than the Lord of the Rings did.

The storyline is not in a single way complex, because all books started with a problem and ended with a solution. Tolkien has the courtesy of building the story with a continuation from where we left Frodo or someone from the broken fellowship. Instead of meeting up with Harry faping in bed at age 78, we await to see where Frodo lies with his task.

Nothing against JK, as personally I think she 1 of the greatest authors of our time and although I may not like how she did some things in the last 2 books. I'm still a big fan of HP, it was thanks to her that I learned to enjoy reading so much. But still when compared to a giant like LOTR, HP doesn't stand a chance, the films had some of the grestest battle scenes and special effect ever, hell the last movie is 1 of only 3 films that has won 11 Academy Awards and thats the most any film has won

HP is a great, compelling, and creative story with lots of character development and great messages and probably one of the best displays of creativity in this modern era, but to me LOTR just has so much more and is just a beautiful piece of literature that doesn't miss out on anything.
But when comparing both movies, LOTR absolutely DESTROYS HP, I think really the movie makers of HP really failed at living up to what the book really was, instead LOTR was just a masterpiece like the book

@arle0127 Sauron and Gandalf are of the same race. Therefore the power forging the ring would have been the same if not higher in power. Also, his power is limited in human form. On top of that, Demi-gods or gods in general are still not immune to temptation, which is why Gandalf did not take the ring in the the fellowship.

Simple observation, HP fans tend not to be as aggressive as LOTR fans. This could be down to the fact that the HP fans are children or at the very least young teens. Please, please, please mind your language and reactions to each other. Both films are great and both have legions of devoted fans to prove it.
