  • crazy it is video...

  • 29 people just missed the *like* button

  • @da10vid Original

  • get ready for part two

  • Is this song about Catholic Priests?

  • @matthewchoat I find that listening to the lyrics helps in these cases. :0

  • @Physicslawyer Are you insane? So what's the best thing you've seen? Singing cowboys with hats, cows and all that stuff? excuse me, i prefer music ;) anyway, guess your opinion is valid.

  • Insane musicianship, WOW!

  • how the fuck does someone dare to split a vid like this

    damn...

  • Great show. Man, I miss the Spectrum.

  • holy crap, i'm only # 512,263. absurdly talented.

  • guys, does the flute fingering technique the same sa saxophone?

  • @andrewbautista23

    Yea pretty much ;)

  • is that victor wooten ?

  • Not much a fan of Fuch's bits of singing - he's overpowering Coffin. :c

  • Little Ham 'n Eggs comin' at ya, hold on people hope ya got your griddles...

  • flute solo!!!

  • insane banjo solo

  • what is he playing?!?!?!? *weird instrument*

  • is a synthesizer drum.

  • Damn, that flute is fucking sexy.

  • @carpetmuncher3234 I think the guitar just freaked out and dropped a string. Dude can damn sure play a bass!

  • thats it i quit music...haha

  • I want that banjo!

  • Is it bad that I hear this and think total stoner music???

  • Every time I see Vic play, I wonder how I can be even worthy enough to play the same instrument.

  • @sinisterBOB9 Well everytime *I* see Vic, I'm inspired to learn to play as good as him! Except with my own vibe to it. Stiff upper lip, mate! :)

  • @sinisterBOB9 It's cause you don't. When victor picks up his bass it ceases to be a bass of mere mortals.

  • w00t w00t!!! yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • These guys have been teleported directly from The Star Wars Universe.

  • This is a must see live band. Jaw dropping performances by each and every one of the band members. Words do not describe!

  • mr wooten you are my god!

  • These guys are all great talents. This is real music.

  • @carpetmuncher3234 when did this happen?

  • @carpetmuncher3234 Actually believe it or not....

If you cut out a string, (I am comparing this to when I broke my right hand)

You put your entire brain in to a more focused arena, and sparks can fly.

Not that anyone would want to hear a one handed pianist, I'm just saying for one hand it made me happy.

  • @carpetmuncher3234

    fark much?

  • I wonder if Future Man's ever been electrocuted by his synthaxe, it sure looks possible

  • Comment removed

  • @utubesuxb4lls Electrocution means death by electricity. So no as he is still alive he definitely hasn't. Getting shocked is not the same as electrocution.

  • @BarakaObama2012

"Electrocution is a type of electric shock that, as determined by a stopped heart, can end life."

    can, not will.

  • @buefyYT yeah.. but did you the next sentance of that wikipeadia article? it's said it's really used to mean death only

  • @songsmadeforyou

thwarted by damn wikipedia articles again!! :p

  • nothing beats their groove

  • what is that weird instrument? somebody please tell me...

  • @marazm1 It's Future Man's Synthaxe Drumitar.

  • is that soprano ebonite?

  • Mr.Fleck is a Gods gift to humanity and we from Team Anjael-the man with the blue face send him warm regards and may he continue to thrill humanity with his music.

Bela fleck is a wonderful warm man!!!!!!

    God Bless us All

  • on this day July 19, 2011 at 11:37 I am eating a cream cheese bagel.

  • @Thomsonjack41, You can't even begin to understand the depth of this song. Go back to school.

  • @MrZanither it's sarcasm... trolololol

  • I love how deep the lyrics are.

  • this would be chill if the flute player also fluteboxed

  • God bless everyone and BELA and the FLECKTONES..you to little gabrieldhalman2 ..You take your heinous mind outta here, freedom of the web, you got it and so do I.. so bless you if you cant take it...take your vegen crap else where..you are smited..But God blesses you I don't..Great music by the Flecktones tho...( did I get a rise.) yep..

  • can someone upload misunderstood plox

  • Wooten IS the bass

  • @burtonbcb123 Wooten is the druimtar too

  • @burtonbcb123 Wooten is the druimtar too (google futureman)

  • God, I've had that bass line stuck in my head for a week solid now...

Wooten was wrong- You CAN get too funky.

  • Como é bom ouvir algo assim... !!

  • HY. A Bela Fleck- More lov live nincs meg?

  • Man, I forgot how killing Jeff's flute solo is in this

  • One of the best live jams ever.

  • been a fan of the flecktones since 91

    good stuff

  • Great version and Bela's solo is especially wicked. I do however miss Howard's harmonica line which so central to the song.

  • Bela is a very big musician, no only Victor. Producer, Composer, Musician etc. is Bela. All the group are very big monsters in the music.

  • @carpetmuncher3234 4. sell string, bass and the solo(recorded) in a limited edition fan package for a ginormous amount of money

  • @c0d3x001 You do realize that he happens to USE that bass...

  • @GelatinousYam yes well but a new bass wouldn't be worth as much as some fan would pay for the old one

  • @c0d3x001 I don't think he is worried about the money.

  • @MrChadbag I'm sure that's the case but i was just completing Mr. carpetmunchers idea up there so the Profit wasn't implied by me

  • This is the sneakiest bassline I've ever heard.

  • @MrJeesetinfection you could almost say it's sinister

  • @WGIfan I'd rather you say... You could say it's almost sinister...

    It sounds less stupid.

    LOL just kidding, sorry stupid.

  • virtuosos gone wild

  • This is nice, I haven't seen this one before, and enjoy all of the performances as usual. This must be early in the introduction of Coffin to the group, and his flute playing has overtones of Roland Kirk and Ian Anderson, and his own flare as well.

Thanks for posting this great video.

  • The Banjo solo is definitely the very best thing of all!

  • I could do without Futureman's scatting.

  • @oldcremona pfft gotta love scat...

  • @sailorirl pfft yeah when it's Ella or Sachmo

  • @tulllguy how so?

  • All you tards voting thumbs down...just go watch your Britney vids.

  • what the fuck is that other guy with the dreads playing!!!!!!

  • @TheThundermusic Its Victor Wootens brother Roy "futureman" Wooten and its his crazy instrument, "the Synthaxe Drumitar" ;D

  • @TheThundermusic It's called a drumatar.

  • @TheThundermusic Those are DRUMS! I saw them live and he always does a demonstration to show the audience. Fantastic Show!

  • That Banjo solo is one of the most orgasmic sound organizations ever! And Victor grooves excellently

  • They are great. And there is only a GOD cause you were TOLD there was a god.God is inside something, when you work that out all is perfect....Got the answer,YET

  • Grandes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MrWendellGee. Since you assume the existence of God in your statement, my question for you is this: Who gave them their abilities?

  • @europeanbamf not god cuz he doesnt exist you dumb fuck!

  • @davejohn1989 i don't have an opinion on god but you're an idiot for posting 3 times

  • @theratkingz sometiems u need to stress the point to the bible thumpers. they dont seem to get it the first time around

  • @europeanbamf Not god ause he doesn't exist!

  • @europeanbamf Not god cause he doesn't exist!

  • @davejohn1989 You're an idiot but God still loves you.

  • @daddyphishin actually no.... there is no God and youre a fucking idiot for thinking there is. So much of an idiot in fact if there was a God chances are he would hate you!

  • @davejohn1989 Thou shalt keep thy religious beliefs to thyself!

  • that looks like jeff coffin

  • @Nuevolmagen07 I hope that his real name isn't Futureman! What is his real name?

  • @storfiskarn52 his name is roy wooten =)

  • @storfiskarn52 his name is roy wooten =)

  • JAZZ MAKES ME SHIT ANGELS!!!!!!!!

  • Hehe Awesome! What instrument is the guy with the pirate hat playd named?

  • @storfiskarn52 that's Futureman. One of Vic's brothers. He created the drumitar(what he is playing) if you haven't noticed, there is no drummer in the whole set. Well, each of those buttons are assigned a drum sound. Pretty cool if you ask me.

  • I love him!!!!!!!!!

  • Since Futureman and Vic are brothers, I would propose "Wooten, w00t and the Woottones". :-)

  • Hey musicians looking for exposure upload , collaborate, build, unite with dj's, agents , labels , the works at munite.net. free too. Its the coolest trend designed for the people looking for a break and exposure.

  • I love the jazz festival in montreal

  • Love the flute and the OM shirt rocks the house!

  • @sharlapatrick

lmfao prove a negative, yes you can do so. its not that hard. Give me perimeters of jazz without using groups known as jazz because its arguable and prove to me that Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are outside of those.

  • @VanishingDigital Hey man. Sorry. I didn't go through every single comment. My percussion class is working on this for an ensamble. I'll remove it tomorrow, because I'm on my phone right now.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperUberAwsomeMan

way to copy a comment. gtfo

  • epic! what is that instrument that guy is playing, is a soprano saxophone?

  • What the heck is the guy on the right playing?

  • @imax371 A drumitar. It's the only one of it's kind I think.

  • @JPastorius3 That particular model is one of a kind as far as I know, but look up "Zendrum" on Google.

  • this band should be called Jeff Coffin & The Cofftones

  • After watching this, God has realised just how untalented he is.

  • @BackwoodsGunny

    Amen!

  • @BackwoodsGunny Or people practiced and worked hard.

  • @MrWendellGee the universe realised what?

  • @GabrielDhalaman2 Really? Take your religious stuff where it's appreciated.

  • @carrillo232 well,i decided here is appreciated....and i am not religious

relax,i am to far away to split you in half, eheh

  • i love bela fleck! he's like eric clapton, jimi paige & earl scruggs all rolled into one! and the wooten brothers? wow! such tremendous talent. i like this flute/sax dude too!

  • That Hare Krishna with the flute has some major sick chops!

  • this is the 90s right here by christ

  • MY GOD! These are brilliant musicians.

  • I think it is tempting to take these musicians' virtuosity for granted. Let us try not to.

  • Did Ray Charles become a country singer when he sang Hank Williams' songs?

  • this band should be called victor wooten and the wootones

  • @SDoGG420 Agreed xD

  • @SDoGG420 no bela is amazing. and its his band. trust me as a bass played i love victoe wooten but still

  • @SDoGG420 This is the world's biggest truth I've ever agreed!

  • @SDoGG420 or the Woodaddys

  • @SDoGG420 But Bela does pretty much all the writing

  • This isn't really classified into any genre, it's just MUSIC! Damn good as well!

  • Ughh.. the nineties....

  • @ 0:42- What is that thing

  • @alexlocurto thats future man, he's kinda the drummer. he has a really weird/awesome drum machine he made himself. he also happens to be victors brother. he can kinda see your future and knows when your gonna die btw.

  • People who don't like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones deserve to die. Possibly with an unmerciful and relentless suffer.

  • Victor shines through this entire song.

  • Who needs a genre...just play!

  • @PeluMaad this is jazz

  • @tiger130 ...and a whole lot more. But then, what is "jazz"? A West African inclination to improvise married to European analysis of harmony?

  • @tiger130 ...and a whole lot more. But then, what is "jazz"? A West African inclination to improvise married to European analysis of harmony? To my ear this is a lot closer to the Allman Brothers than to John Coltrane....but does it really matter?

  • @PeluMaad english is my second language so i did not understand any of that, but im sorry if i offended you before

  • @tiger130 ....party on, dude...

  • @PeluMaad

    .... no, its jazz lol

  • @VanishingDigital ....this is great music...but it's no more jazz than Kenny G. Please don't disrespect everyone from Louie Armstrong to the Marsalis family.

  • @PeluMaad here's more proof

    Background information

Genres Jazz, Jazz fusion, Bluegrass, jazz-pop

    Years active 1988–present

  • @VanishingDigital ....LOL.....well they got bluegrass right...I would never tell an italian what opera is....catch my drift?

  • @PeluMaad

uhm, no i don't. Jazz is pretty much a huge genre. Ever heard of j.fusion? this is a great example.

  • @VanishingDigital ...yep...jazz influenced bluegrass...funny how much it sounds like klezmer...I hear no connection to Thelonius Monk whatsoever...

  • @PeluMaad If you think all jazz is related to Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, etc. you're a close minded idiot. Look at the structure of the song and the chord progression.

  • @VanishingDigital ....when the Grateful Dead jam on "Dark Star" are they playing "jazz"....or jazz influenced rock?

Improvisation is at the heart of jazz, but that doesn't mean every improvisation is jazz. As for structures and chord progressions...Hoagy Carmicheal, Irving Berlin and all those golden age song writers were masters ...were they jazz musicians or pop song writers? Yes...I am VERY close minded about MY culture and heritage, but I love Janis Joplin and Greg Alman's blues any way....

  • @PeluMaad

No its fucking jazz. i'm getting frustrated now.

I'm not saying because its improvisation that its jazz thats stupid. Jazz is a genre of music. what your saying is close minded and stupid as fuck. stop it.

  • @VanishingDigital .....Banjo Ikey Robinson...google and learn...

  • @PeluMaad

NO. You're not replying to my points. your just spouting nonsense now. Bela Fleck is as much Jazz as Thelonius Monk and Wes Montgomery. Go away.

  • @VanishingDigital ...I'm pretty sure you're not old enough to remember when Wes Montgomery did the Beatles with strings....and there was an uproar about it NOT being jazz.....Relax...you're the coolest dude hanging in the mall because you listen to "jazz"....Bela Fleck is a bluegrass musician with solid bluegrass technique and an extremely open mind. Maybe you should compare Django Reinhart's jazz to what Bela does.....

• @PeluMaad

No....nonononono. I don't flaunt the fact that i like a certain style of music.. thats something 14 year olds do. i'm 22 lol.

Saying Bela is not jazz is exactly like saying that Dave Matthews Band is jazz.
