  • This was a concert at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in 1992, with Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducting the National Orchestra of Spain. I remember watching it on PBS that night. (The Orchestra also did a fantastic version of La boda de Luis Alonso that brought the house down.) I agree with the comment that Angel plays with a great deal of joy.

  • one more thing . how can you wannabes criticize this wonderful guitarist ! "pp" at 2:50 or "forte" . who cares ,as liong it sounds good . it's his interpretation and i've never heard it played better . fire on the strings ! that's Angel !

  • i must add to this that he is my favorite of the 3 brothers , because of his fire . his lesson consisted of running all over the guitar with an amazing technic and telling me i got gyped on my classical guitar . lol ! i realized that these guys were born to the classical guitar so i made my living in the nite clubs playing jazz :-(

  • many years ago i went to study with angel in their hollywood studio . first, he wanted to arm wrestle which i won . he was 17 and i was 20. he invited me to his house.his dad was not pleased about it and let us know . he didn't show up for my next lesson as he was making a recording of this piece . i was pissed and taught myself jazz .lol !

  • John William's interpretation is much better technically. Romero's timing is all over place - slowing down on more technically demanding parts.

  • @mediathailand Better technically? Maybe, but Williams is boring on a good day.

  • Bravo!

  • todo un maestro, muy fino su estilo. felicidades.

  • Angel's playing is pure Joy

  • is it? amazing playing but he could take note of some dynamic markings ie. thumping the low A at 2:50 when it's supposed to be "pp"

  • Romero closes teasingly his eye to the maestro at the end like..."ok fella ,we did it!"

  • Angel Romero is an excellent musician. His interpretation of this concerto is my favorite. There are many good interpretations out there. Angel seems to maintain a high level of technique, phrasing and what the Spanish call duende. Thank you Angel. Many thanks for posting this on youtube.

  • @stevessn Check out the performance by Paco de Lucia. Phenomenale.

  • Anyone from the Romero's can surely play this. But the best thing is they will all surely play it in very distinct ways. I used Angel's edition when I studied this piece because it is eloquently phrased and the fingerings are comfortable for me. I am into Pepe's way of playing it because I love the way he did the rasgueados on this piece strong, clean and crisp.

  • @TheTriptico I saw Pepe play this with the Pittsburgh Symphony and let me tell you those Rasqueados were DEVASTATING!!!!!!

Abrazo. Juan Aragón Luna

  • This is the best interpretation of Concierto De Aranjuez (and I've seen and heard them all). Angel Romero, in my opinion is the best classical guitarist ever. He plays with such virtuosity, joy and ease more so than any other guitarist.

  • @drj06tabing You like it even more than Paco de Lucia's incredible performance here?
