  • i saw santa thumbs up if you did

  • GREAT !!

  • I can not believe I just cried.

  • 12 people dislike this! How can that be possible? Get a hearing aid!!

  • i dont get it

  • This was filmed in 1978 but the sound arrived late

  • Chills! Karen's sultry voice always brought a sense of reasuring comfort & familiarity to me. A gifted talent, gone WAY too soon. RIP Karen.

  • Too bad she left world so soon :((( Karen had such an amazing voice!

  • Karen and Judy--two women with lovely voices, singing a haunting Christmas melody. Both women touched many lives, both women were successful in their own right. Both women's lives make my heart ache.

  • @ncnickel ...And both were taken too soon! Judy's version is the only other one that always brings tears at the genuine warmth of the phrasing, especially at the lyric "Through the years we all will be together...if the faiths allow."

  • I saw Karen yesterday. She was in McDonald stuffing her as usual. Doesn't gain a pound mind you. Must have a hollow leg.

  • They were gifts from God!

  • We miss you, Karen.

  • Sadly, Karen could not have made it in today's music. Today, all the singers have to try to sound like African Americans to be successful. Prime example: Christina Aguilera- a fine voice, but she has to affect all that up and down yawling in every song. But that's what the younger generation wants to hear- whites girls trying to sound like Aretha Franklin.

  • @SteffiReitsch Christina's not trying to sound black though, thats just her natural voice since she was a kid. She does do the runs overboard, i'll admit.

  • @SteffiReitsch What an ignorant statement

  • Future generations yet unborn will listen to this and marvel at Karen's beautiful voilce. I've heard some great versions of this,i.e., Linda Ronstadt, Rosemary Clooney, Anne Murray, just to name a few, but Karen's is my favourite.

  • The greatest female vocalist of all time!!

  • Very nice....They are really nice...I think all of us miss her so much.....Hugs..

  • sucks she was an anorexic

  • Karen Carpenter had the most amazing voice - I wish she had more years with us

  • Love the the song but his video sucks..It's Marry Christmas Darling footage for the most part

  • Remarkably, even with that astounding voice, she viewed herself as a drummer who could sing "OK". Find some clips of her drumming, no slouch there either.

  • Thunmbs up if you wish they were here to sing more beautiful songs.

  • i grew up with the carpenters and karen's voice is the best ever. may you rest in peace karen.

  • She was truly one of a kind . beautifuly haunting voice . the Carpenters Christmas remind me of my childhood ..

    R.I.P. Karen

  • what a beautiful voice! Love it!

  • It's just not Christmas without the Carpenters. Karen had the voice of an angel. It gives me goosebumps.

  • my absolute favorite Christmas song... sung beautifully by Karen -- such a treasured gift she had <3 <3

  • Karen and Richard Carpenter were one of the most successful singing duos in music history.

Have yourself a merry lil Christmas, Honey!♥

  • I'm hearing this so much on the radio lately because christmas is coming up. i love it!

  • listening with my kid on my lap... Missed you grandma.

  • Karen Carpenter was a fantastic singer who was one of my idols. I am sure she won't mind this, but Please come on over to check out my song called "The Spirit of Christmas" on my channel and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

  • The beginning opening of the song is so powerful, happy and sad at the same time. The Carpenters had a feel to their songs.

I think this is the best version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,I like the opening lines about future, past, and present Christmas.

Happy Holidays 2011 and Happy New Year's 2012 from Los Angeles!

  • I LOVE YOU KAREN WHERE EVER YOU ARE ,

  • @egbertogarciagomez I pray she is in heaven....

  • This is a nice version. And Karen is still very much missed. I grew up not far from her, in Connecticut. If you want to hear a version of this song that will absolutely rock your world, I invite you to check out Gloria Estefan's version with Singers Unlimited doing the acapella background - here, on YouTube.

    Great holidays, all...

  • the 8 dislikes probably listen to RAP boy that will rot your brain!

  • God, was I in love with this woman, back in the day...

  • @NYCBG Me too. What a heavenly creature she was....

  • I'm grateful that nobody has come along that sounds like Karen, her uniqueness made her an original singing artist. Society brainwashing women into thinking that they have to look a certain way is the reason why the world lost Karen. Always question why the media promotes old as being bad and skeletal skinny is being good.

  • i never heard her version till today on the radio but i knew it was her from that voice.

  • I cry everytime ,I hear her voice, such a beautiful and talented tortured soul. She looks so frail in this video.I wish more could have ben known about eating dissorders in your day.Your story helped me in my recovery I wil always feel close to you.I pray we meet someday. xoxo Karen xoxo

  • Why the 8 dislikes???

  • Just for you Stacey x

  • Merry Christmas Darling Boo! XXXXXXX

  • It's that time of the year again! So thankful for great Christmas music!

  • Hermosa canción. Homenaje a Karen Carpenters, ya fallecida.

  • te amo karen carpenter eres subliminal

  • My sister Lisa and I play our "Christmas Portrait" CD, every time we erect the tree and decorate our apartment. There's absolutely NOTHING like it!!!! :o)

  • This seems to be the most listened to version of the "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" on radio these days. At least where I live (106.7 Lite FM in NYC).

    Great song though.

  • @HamonLord I think you're right this version gets alot of airplay during the holidays

  • @BruhTV you said it.

  • I know the word great is so over used, but when you listen to Karen, it truly fits.

  • She was truly one in a million; may God rest her soul.

    Where's Richard?

  • How can anybody dislike that voice.

  • 69 days before christmas yehey

  • 69 hours

    11 hours

    10 minutes til Christmas!!!

  • so sad that she died of anorexia :( she had such a beautiful voice

  • it will be soon

    82 Days

    16 Hours

    42 Minutes to go

  • me and my family listen to this entire CD all during December, and on Christmas Eve, my parents let me fall asleep to it.

then, in the morning, we make a fire and either pop in this CD or watch White Christmas.

....I want it to be Christmas.

  • @hippocrit123 can you send me a copy thru e-mail?

  • miss you guys. see you on Christmas . Very nice song with a very good singer

  • The most beautiful female voice ever.

  • @Shan16Aline15 yes this certainly is the most beautiful female voice ever I agree 100%

  • @michaelflorida56 I think if this woman new how many men were in love with her, it might have made it better for her.

  • @michaelflorida56 I don't know about the most beautiful female voice ever (Striesand for me) but without a doubt one of the most soothing voices there has ever been.

  • @Shan16Aline15 I agree. The greatest!!

  • @Shan16Aline15 AMEN. I have this CD and have 2 play it numerous times every Christmas...miss her...

  • Without question.... Karen was one of a kind. God rest you Karen. Hope you found your peace.

  • How I miss the Carpenters! Whenever I hear those Carpenter Christmas songs, I am reminded of my dad. How I wish I can turn back the hands of time and be with him even for a minute! Miss u dad!

  • @buffet62: Non sequitur, or in the vernacular of the day, "Say WHAT?!?" Never mind. I have better things to do, like play Facebook's "Bejeweled Blitz." };-]

  • Listening to these old beautiful songs made me sad, and reflective on life and death. A human being passes on and leaves the earth, yet leaves behind beautiful pieces of themselves - like a song, or a work of art. And here we are here on youtube, listening to a voice decades after the person has left this lifetime. What a beautiful gift to pass on...

  • @11wormbig Agreed ♥♥

  • @11wormbig what a beautiful thing to write..<3

  • @11wormbig I agree, I was a big carpenter fan and somehow when I hear here voice it makes me sad and happy @the same time. I love Karen and may God keep her in HIs loving memory.

  • @11wormbig i COULD NOT HAVE EXPRESSED IT BETTER.......M AY KAREN CARPENTER RE....I MISS HER!

  • 5 people are buried in the snow.

  • perfection remember this withstood all genres glam punk disco rock and still sounds fresh, Adele Paloma Faith Katy Perry are made to sound like kararoke singers in comparrison

  • 5 people did not have a merry little christmas

  • happy new year and happy 3 kings!!!!!!!!!!!! belated maerry christmas!!!!!

  • i know she wishes a merry christmas but this song makes me more sad than happy. her voice is so really beautiful and impeccable here like always.now we'll never hear it again. she didnt deserve to leave us so soon and in such a manner. i hope that doctor suffered some form of consequence for letting a beautiful healthy woman suffer.

  • I grew up listening to the Carpenters and will never tire of their recordings. It just wouldn't be Christmas without hearing the angelic voice of our sweet Karen.

  • I hate it when I send an e-mail and get no acknowledgement. I don't know if it was sent, or not.

  • @Myrtle791 Tsk...tsk...tsk, a damn shame. How little mankind has evolved from the cave dwelling days of old. Why don't you go ask a 5 year old in your neighborhood, I am sure the child can educate your dumb-ass in today's technology. And the meek shall inherit the earth.....God save us!

  • Karen has a one in a generation voice. Strong and effortlessly sings

  • Ohh I Love Her voice .. so beautiful.

  • merry christmas to all.pls lets have a peaceful christmas its jesus birthday

  • the 4 people who disliked this have a serious problem

  • The best version of one of the most beautiful contemporary Christmas songs I've ever heard. Thanks a lot for posting!

  • Merry Christmas to you all!

  • for some reason the music doesn't match the video...anyone else see that?

  • @1MormonT : I noticed but just listened to the song anyway. The most beautiful version of one of my favorite Christmas songs available on YouTube

  • @1MormonT That's because the footage of Karen 'lip syncing' is actually for the song "Merry Christmas, Darling". :-)

  • we love you karen carpenter :)_

  • Her voice is breathtaking and very few can achieve that status. She has and will be missed for years to come. thanks for the post Merry Christmas

  • really lovely

  • CARPENTERS MY FAVORITE BAND

  • This is another great interpretation of Christmas Carols. It takes me back to when I lived in Venezuela in the late 1970's. Thank you for the memories.

  • Poor lady. I wish her a peaceful rest and her family a warm holiday season.

  • She is missed!

  • Imagine if lady gaga would sing this song....what would Santa do.... ( get a shotgun, blow her head off and run her over with his sleigh)

  • Without a doubt, this has to be the finest rendition I have ever heard of this wonderful song. Karen's phrasing and interpretation are so incredibly superb, and her vocals are absolute perfection. Their entire Christmas album is one of the finest I have ever heard. Karen truly made everything she sang so very special.

  • One of my favorite Christmas records. Love hearing her voice anytime.

  • What a talented person she was, that voice, so distinctive, clear, rich and pure, one of the best voices ever, never to be duplicated again.

  • I liked her crooked lips when she sang. how cUte!!

    Just Lovely :)

  • TRUELY EFFORTLESS and always pitch perfect

  • i ,ve been in love with Karen Carpenter,s simply beautiful voice since i was 8 years old , i,m nw 43 and even now i,ve never heard anyone to compare, the pleasure her recordings have brought me ins immerurable, i just wish i,d got teh chance to meet with her and just say thankyou!!

  • Karen owns this song - Merry Christmas from everyone at MagChat

  • Karen, you were so beautiful.

  • Oh how miss her talents today.

  • Billy May's arrangement is beautiful, and is modern and not cloying, in perfect taste. I wish Karen had recorded an album of standards with him. I believe that if she had lived this would have happened.

  • I never grew tired of listening to karen carpenter's angelic voice. Whatever song she sang it really makes anyone who hears mesmerized. Be it christmas songs or love songs she will remain the only one who can really sang them beautifully.

  • I love this song. The Carpenters has a nice voice.

  • Karen had the perfect voice and she is my favorite choice for Christmas music.

  • the perfect voice for this song

  • @porgy Karen does do an awesome job. Did you know that Judy Garland introduced the song in 1944 in the film Meet Me In Saitn Louis?

  • I love it.

  • Beautifully sung. No one sounds like Karen Carpenter. Such a unique voice. This classic Christmas song always makes me think of the people the fates no longer allow to be here with me. Pensive.....

  • Through the years we will all be together...how I wish...I just lost my Mom 5 days ago...it's so hard to bear this Christmas without her..she was my shining star..she'll be having a Merry little Christmas in Heaven this year...Karen Carpenter IS Christmas...the music opens the floodgate of tears, but its such a symphony to the ears...I love and miss you so much Mom, you're with Dad again for Christmas now and forever..shine your light down on us here..Angel Blessings Mom..I love you so Mom ♥

  • @icangelz beauiful. Your mom is with you in all yoru lovely memoriees.... my thoughts are with you this Christmas season. I lost my mom three years ago and father two years prior... Christmas will never quote be the same - but I always set aside some time to quietly reflect and remember them.... In all the hectic pace of the season - you do the same & it will help just a little bit. Merry Christmas...

  • @barryt60 Thank you so much for your lovely comment...I will take it to heart..Through the years we all will be together if the fates allow...:o) and Have yourself a Merry little Christmas now...:o) ~~(\o/)~~ Take Care...♥ ABC (Always Be Christmas) it's really careful but I changed it for the season...:o)

  • Such a classic song. And thsi is one of the best renditions. You can also check my live version of this song in my profile, I hope you'll like it. Comments and ratings are always appreciated.

  • The best rendition ever in my book.

  • Merry Christmas to all. from Manila.

  • My goodness, this takes me back to when I was young. Karen will forever be one of the best, and forever missed.

  • We hang her shining star upon the highest bough now and always. Go ahead and have a good cry. It's good for you. We'll always be together - here on YouTube!

  • We were blessed with an angel if only for a short time.

  • The very best version of this song ever.

  • HER VOICE IS TIME LESS SHE MIGHT HAVE LEFT US BUT SHE GAVE A VOICE TO STARVING TO DEATH SO SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTEN IN ANY WAY

  • Karen had the amazing talent of slightly bending a note and always landing in key. There's no doubt that this woman had perfect pitch. I've always been a huge fan. There has never been a better vocalist in contemporary music.

  • Just a simple little comforting song. Happy Holidays everyone. =)

  • @Keevin80021 happy holidays 2 u 2

  • Everyone have a fabulous Holiday. God Bless You. and Karen and Richard. What a beautiful song.

  • I could listen to Karen for hours and never, ever tire of her beautiful voice.

  • It's a shame she died so young. Maybe if she could have mixed in some crackers or even an occasional salad she might have made it. Oh well...great voice.

  • It's so wrong I wasn't able to experience this and am now in the generation of overruns, screams and butchery of classics. Celine Dion is the only female artist next to Karen that doesn't scream all over the place when singing holiday music, what a tragedy. Celine and Karen make Christmas it wouldn't be Christmas or the holiday season without those two. Thank God for them.

  • happy chrismas

  • Okay, I am really loving this vid...Christmas is in EXACTLY TWO MONTHS TODAY! (October 25, 2010 - December 25, 2010) I haven't "rushed" for Christmas to come since I was a child, but this vid is bringing on that good ole' Christmasey feeling!

Great job neroli8676!! Happy (upcoming) Holidays!

  • This is my favorite Christmas song and Karen's version is one of two that I love the most. (The other is John Denver and Rowlf the dog on the Muppets Christmas cd.) Karen's voice always brings me such peace.

  • Let us take a journey to a better place in time when Karen could share her love with us all!

  • its so sad that karen is no longer with us but her beautiful voice and music will always stay with us forever becouse christmas without the carpenters christmas classics aint christmas at all

  • Thank Heavens for recordings of some of the brightest voices that have graced this mortal world. Karen's voice has not been silenced, there were heavenly choirs waiting for her to return when her sojourn here was done. God bless all.

  • even though its not Christmas I still love listening to Karen's Voice, its for all season :) I Love every song that she had done :)

  • Karens voice has no mercy.

Its so sensual, beautiful and addictive.

Someone should prevent to the listeners:

    BECAREFUL, ITS YOUR HEART.

  • @FlyingMondongo Well said.

  • A wonderful song once again from karen unlike the video
