  • Robert Quine was a very special guitarist. What a sound. Amazing, epic track.

  • i´ll never forget this song! 4 ever!

  • god dammit this song is good

  • @savoy1801 Actually I was making fun of these arguments you find underneath almost evry older music. As if Punk has turned to be something conservative....

Stop crying about shitty new music, grab a guitar (or whatever you like) and do your own thing. People like gaga or bieber won't stop doing their corporate driven shitmusic just because some old farts listen to the Pistols!

  • Damnit MLP

    Actually...

    I can live with this.

  • music was invented in 1977

  • @irishbull777 No, this shit was fun :D And it's great music by the way !

  • PS: Yeah and evrything new is like bullshit, and there is no such thing as a Punkscene anymore, I know that because me and all my friends a.k.a. the only real punks have become brokers and shit. But if a Band sells more than a thousand records they've like sold out, right? Stupid faggots is what they are, and I call them so because i hate gay people, but ya know them nazis must die because they judge other people for what they are and I'm so much better.

  • @thaincrediblemaier bad troll

  • @thaincrediblemaier I agree!!..I personally don't buy new music ...there really isn't anything new worth a shit...I'm 53 and I still listen to the shit I grew up listening too( The Cramps, Sex Pistols, Wire, Stranglers,The Damned, ..etc..)...I've had these young people ask me 'Where did you find those cool tunes'?..They freak out when I tell them that those tunes have been around since 1976...LOOOONG before they were born!!!

  • Hey there

I'm a 30 year old fucker that whines about the good old days, because you know they don't play such music these days. That's why I havn't been to a concert since 1987, because all these newer Bands like Green Day suck ass and sold out. Not like my god Rotten who sells butter now, cuz that is somethint totally different. God back in the days evrything was so much better and nowadays evrything sucks, and all these kids are so ignorant but I still keep listening to the same old shit..

  • @thaincrediblemaier "Just the same old song and Dance."

"Forever young. I want to be, Forever young."

    "Golden Oldies."

    "Bye, bye, Miss American Pie..."

I've got literally thousands of the most awesomest songs from way back then before I was born. I'm only now getting into Rap; mainly because I've gotten into poetry.

  • Comment? No! I`m enjoy in yours!

  • Ponies brought me here... I'm not even sure how...

  • @RainyRag PONIES The Anthology is what brought me here, and many others it seems...

  • Hi everypony!

  • Bronies are listening to punk now? Things are getting sweeter...

  • @42prolly we always had...well i listened to metal

  • @42prolly I actually listen to Rock, Hip-Hop, Techno, Dubstep, Classical, Orchestral, Opera, and some smooth Jazz when I'm feeling particularly mellow. But I hate country. I freaking HATE country. Always have. Don't know why, just do. But I love my Ponies, and if you don't, I don't care. I'll go my way, you go yours. Everypony needs their own thing, and Ponies is mine.

Also, as much as I love this man, I wish to link a Devo song to Ponies. Crack Dat Whip. Heh, that'd be funny...

  • Tv Tropes brought me here....ok, the tv tropes article on ponies, but still!

  • A classic punk tune... Never gets old.

  • BRONIES? oh god, you guys don't fuckin belong here.

  • @Swarmbat U mad bro?

  • @Swarmbat Bronies belong everywhere :) might as well start watching now.

  • Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom. That's all I have to say for now, thank you.

  • Flawless song.

  • This would be a FAB ong fdor Mr. Beibevreerweerer tno cover! Or maybe a Buzzcocks' song

    nnnnmmmm.....Orgasm Addict, perhaps??

  • <3

  • my dad told me to search these guys. thanks dad!

  • This Song Is Almost As Good As A Justin Bieder Song.

  • @renues troll fail

  • @renues Who the hell is Justin Bieder?

  • he's so attractive in that picture, jesus.

  • I have this album only a few good songs on it but the good ones are amazing.....

  • Would everyone just shut the fuck up about MLP and listen to the goddamned song? Jesus.

  • @xXShortEmoKidXx

Sadly, it's impossible for some bronies.

At least more are probably are looking into more music from this era now. I love 60-80's music. :P

  • @PoketoaTheFirefox Yeah, it was the best.

  • @xXShortEmoKidXx Sure.

  • What I got from reading all these comments:

Ponies suck and this song sucks.

Apparently... I guess mlp fans have no sense of music.

  • @randomhobo1000

The music video mash-up "PONIES: The Anthology" featured a cover of this song depicting the "blank-flanked" Cutie Mark Crusaders. Given the song's kickassery, it led to a surge of bronies seeking out the original.

  • how come everone who watched ponies the anthology shows up here to watch this one XD hmm maybe because ponies rule

  • SUCKS !!!

  • Comment removed

  • The fucker that snaked this LP from my house 30 yrs ago, I hope you died by now!

  • @randomhobo1000 cool, and i do agree that she is a very adorable pony, but i have to concure, because fluttershy is indeed the true best.

  • @randomhobo1000 watch "ponies the anthology"

  • fuck. fucking ponies

  • *Looks at top comments*

    CONFOUND THOSE PONIES!

  • What the FUCK is MLP even mentioned in a Richard Hell song none the fucking less any punk video? Grow up you man children.

  • @Seedyfellow Greetings, friend. I noticed that you are a tad upset. Allow me to explain: This song has been tied into Pony culture. Is that a bad thing? No, not really. I, myself, discovered it through Ponies and I enjoy it for what it is.

    Thanks for your time.

  • @LazyLosLobos Yes I was a bit mad when I first saw these comments but I'm past it, yes to me it's a bad thing but it's not going to ruin the song for me. What ever man, enjoy your little girl cartoon that is subtly being marketed to man childs like yourself. Also I'm not going to respond to what ever your to say to justify why you like Ponies.

  • @Seedyfellow

Lol @ anyone who thinks they can fight the Brony Legion.

  • @Seedyfellow

    Obvious troll is obvious,

    And bad at grammar.

  • @Seedyfellow Blank Generation. CUTIEMARK CRUSADERS ROCK BAND! YAY!

  • Ponies

  • @1996chimp why?

  • it made my ears bleed

  • I quite liked the MLP ponies show.

BUT why the FUCK ponies are in comments in one of my favorite songs?

Sorry, but do you really want some of people who enjoyed bit of show to turn into haters?

Please don't spoil with ponies one of the classical punk anthems.

  • @Dimonogop cause the Osaka Popstar cover was used in a pony music video, and then that video said "go check out the original." So here we are. Sup.

Think of it this way. A whole group that normally wouldn't know enough about music to know theys hould like this are now being exposed.

  • but do i still belong after so very long

  • I actually prefer the Osaka Popstar version more. This one sounds like it's sung by an insane person. It's just weird.

  • .......and this is supposed to be good?

  • @Godard64 if you dont get it, you just dont get it.

  • @Godard64

    Yes.

  • Top comments, 'nuff said.

  • does it matter what brought you here?

  • 8 people belong to the dumbfuck generation of gag and beiber.

  • @vg7211 shut the fuck up dickhead, why do you have to bring that shit up for here, you make yourself sound like an idiot.

  • @manicbabyshambles123 lol. stop trying to act all big and punk like. get a life. dont talk to me about the present state of music. i have never, and never will see legends like the sex pistols, nirvana, thedoors, led zep, pink floyd, the ramones, jimi hendrix, the who etc play live. so excuse me for showing a little hate towards present day music. and hey, we are just a part of the blank generation. and i would like to leave you by the wisdon of the who "why dont you just f.f.fade away"

  • @vg7211 fuck, man, if you look hard enough you'll see bands everywhere that are great. Legends are overrated, get into your local scene, go to gigs for small to mid grade bands, check out some fucking music that isnt dead. The classics are classics, sure, but pissing and moaning about the state of music today always pisses me off. music has always been 90% shit, sturgeons fucking law, but the good shit stays around and the puerile fades. so you have to look harder present day than in the past

  • @f0ruk i know about local bands. ive jammed with them. so dont tell me about great music. the fact of the matter is that that music can not be created today because the circumstances peresent today will not invoke taht kind of thought process. and legends are overrated? wtf? and you call yourself an individual who listens to rock. lets take morrison. the dude spent his whole like as an anarchist. all his poems, lyrics and words were way ahead of his time.

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • uhmm what is ponies?

  • @ryler99 a song by the patti smith group

  • Yes, it was ponies that brought me here..

  • Yea, ponies brought me here...

  • brought me here brought me here... ugh.

  • how to make it in America brought me here

  • I bought this dude in the rhino records shop in so.Cali, awesome tape!!!

  • ponies. oh haha lol everyone here is from the anthology

  • people if you want the one from the ponies video go to the one by Osaka Popstar, thats the one that they used

  • Ponies = you 'are' the blank generation

  • what ponies mean??????i came here because i love the song!!!! xDDD

  • Ponies!

  • Fact... Ponies.

  • Classic.

  • i dont knoiw what the f&%k Ponies means but this is an all time classic song...knowing your music history should bring you here

  • @barbconch Ponies: The Anthology credits a whole fuckton of songs, this is one of them, used for Cutie Mark Crusaders.

  • @barbconch Nope. not music history. Only ponies.

  • @barbconch Hey, whatever gets younger people into good music, right?

  • @barbconch Well you see, A pony is a a small horse breed that when fully mature is less than 14 hands.

Also PINKIE PIE IS THE BEST!

  • @barbconch The Ramones brought me here!

  • @barbconch I am literally listening to this song because of a music history class. Glad I took it.

  • @barbconch Hipsters can be real assholes.

  • osaka is so much better ,and yes ponies brought me here

  • an old list of great songs brought me here!!

  • Richard Hell brought me here.

  • OMG I LOVE PONIES!

  • Thumbs up for Bronies!

  • Stray Cat Strut.. ahahah <3

    Love Richard!

  • I don't care what cover brought you guys here... you need to hear the original the appreciate it.

  • @DrTrevelyan That's... kinda what we are doing?

  • fact 3/4 people are here because of the anthology

  • Mmmmmmmm. Ear sex.

  • osaka is better

  • this is uh..great i love the guitar....oh who am i kidding... PONIES!

  • Cutie mark crusaders. :D

  • People always talk about Robert Quine's astonishing playing but those great opening chords are played by Ivan julian. Hats off to him as well.

  • the guitar playing on this is so awesome!!

  • I never liked the east coast punk scene, he west coast had it waaaay better!

  • I like the way he says "I belong to the generation" when he repeats the line. Clever. I didn't realize Robert Quine was in this band. He was quite a guitarist.

  • cmc

  • CBGB

  • I love it

  • see that bull shit. you people sit there and go "thats punk thats not" what the fuck is wrong with you people? it's people like you that makes me not want to be punk anymore. you act like the retarted dj's on the radio, you tell others what is what. guess what if you think i'm not punk, then go fuck yourselfs. i don't care what you think of me. you are all a bunch of fucking slaves to the punk fasion. none of you know what being a true punk. fuck what people say about the music. I'M ME!!

  • The new CMC theme song.

  • thumbs up if your dad got you here

  • Ponies brought me here.

  • @leeham991 look at the one by osaka popstar its the one the anthology used

  • I thank the CMC for bringing me here

  • @77StrayDog Who gives a fuck if it's accepted or not? It's Punk!

  • @77StrayDog

Point of punk, mate, is to REBEL AND STAND OUT! Fight the fucking status quo. Destroy the system and say "FUCK YOU!" to these preteen twats. I wear my badges with pride. I walk with my tribe with great honor and pride. The Basterds live on.

  • osaka popstar did a great cover of this

  • @77StrayDog You want to live in a country where punk is accepted and not just in the neatly wrapped package sold to preteen girls who masturbate to pictures of Blink 182 and Greenday and thusly force young men to resort to wearing eyeliner just to get a handy under the table by a chick named snail? (you're just mashing it)

The fact that punk isn't accepted in the US should be reason enough to want to live there. Punk isn't a style or a fad, it's a life or death struggle against the status quo.

  • @77StrayDog GLADLY, we can switch places.

  • such an awesome song. The guitar solo murders me every time.

  • Damn, this is a long time ago! It is still a great song.

  • That's some ugly ass singing to my ears but the song's cool. like the guitar solos

  • @sagebuzz His voice is good

  • @77StrayDog uhhh, society LOVES punk and all that punk rock music/lifestyl b.s., idc what nobody says its the truth. hate to say it, but after the british scene got more popular then the whole thing went down the drain.

  • goldin memories yeah

  • I can fucking listen to this all day.

  • Originally this song was perfomed by the original Heartbreakers (Hell-Thunders-Nolan band). But was only a demo.

  • @77straydog7 EXACTLY!

  • richard quine rips up they might be giants' john henry album, how come these guys aren't more widely known about?

  • Comment removed

  • Ponies.

    Damn straight.

  • @Dethonator Blank-Flank! ~*giggles*~

  • @Dethonator Awwwww yea.

  • @Dethonator quite.

  • @Dethonator these guys opened for the cutie mark crusaders

  • @Dethonator once you've seen them then will infiltrate your laptop. but thats DEFINITELY not a bad thing

  • @Dethonator indeed

  • @Dethonator Yup.

  • @Dethonator Indubiatly.

  • @Dethonator osaka popstar

  • I belong to the blank generation!

  • heroin=bad. Not just bad, but evil for the brain, soul and spirit.

  • @Johnnystrychnine dude while i don't do heroin i totally condone any of these originators of punk using it. listen to how good their music was!

  • @TheDublJ I did heroin on and off for intense periods and it fucked me up. What is it in the song that is written by a junkie, the heroin induced creativity or the authenticity of creativity of the person? Under heroin or dope I couldn't hold a drumstick for the life of me, or hold a pen to string a sentence together. Drugs deprived my creativity. What musos like Hell or Thunders achieved was awesome and I truly appreciate the legacy they left behind, but I still don't condone heroin. Dude.

  • @Johnnystrychnine As I said previously, I don't condone it either. I'm saying that without it, how do you know they ever would have created this or any music at all. I was on drugs too, but I could create. I wrote massive amounts of music and poems just because my thoughts were so existential that they became interesting and mysterious. While I don't believe any drug is good, I do believe they make solid musicians and writers.

  • @TheDublJ you either do or don't condone it, which one is it?

  • This song is awesome

  • superb!!!!!

  • He looks like Cristopher Walken on this album cover :P

  • #tinypants #movement #swag

  • 4 people can't take it or leave it each time.

  • such a rad song

  • Not many punk bands like this. definitely one of the best bands

  • punk MUSIC

  • Well, I'm 56, and great rock 'n roll has at least kept my spirit young. I've seen a lot of killer concerts in my day, just like a lot of you. I never got to see Richard Hell, and I know I missed out seeing something great. Whoever his lead guitar player was, I've NEVER heard a cat attack the strings on a rock guitar as violently yet beautifully as he did. Totally unique. Ballsy as hell. I can't think who I'd even compare him to..not that it matters. Is the guy still around? joel in tucson

  • @naderchaser Yeah he's around, I did a bit of site managing for him a while ago. He's a fantastic guy.

  • I am 17 years old in 2011. I belong to the Blank Generation

  • @IAMOCKWORD Hey..just because you seem to think that you belong in the so-called "Blank Generation" doesn't mean that you have any kind of a pass to be someone or something less than you COULD be...not that I'm accusing you of doing / being that. You are an individual first and foremost. You've been given the God-Given Gift of FREE WILL. I hope you will take this gift and use it for greatness...in whatever manner you personally wish to be great in. Kick the losers that surround you to the curb.

  • @IAMOCKWORD Same here!

  • @IAMOCKWORD I thought I was the only one hahaha

  • @alternangon hehe, so did I for a long time. I make up 1/3 of my school's punk population

  • Fuck, marky ramones in the drums... HE IS FREAKING AWASOME!

  • Raw.

  • this song is a prime example of what made the original "punk" movement so insanely unique and relevant. it reeked of the mass disenchantment of a generation. we werent war heros and we werent freedom fighting hippies. didnt want to watch tv or go out to the club. if we were going to be called scum and degenerates by the world, we were going be the absolute worst pieces of scum that the world had ever seen. we set our own standards. thats just what that time was

  • classic... image & tune.

  • @77StrayDog "Punk" comes from "Punk Magazine". It was an underground rock magazine, and they called that genre "Punk rock". (When the British Punk movement started, all the original New York people were pissed lol. "Punk is our movement! Name your youth movement something else, you assholes!" lol)

  • Lady Gaga's photoshoot.

  • I was born in mid-90's.

    I belong to BLANK generation.

  • @RockNimbie

You belong to the BLAH Generation, kid. Nothing wrong with that, just saying,
