  • @AFatAnorexic I swear to god, anorexic is the only thing that actress gets cast as! I feel bad for her. She looks thin, but not unhealthy! People probably ALWAYS think she has an ED every time they see her now!

  • @GEhotpants101 Yeah haha It's weird!

  • I looove this movie. I remember falling in love with it the first time I saw it right out of high school. The dedication these characters have to dance is amazing. I looove all the dance scenes, too :)

  • I've always loved the shoe scene.

  • who's the new boy that eric says is cute? He looks really familiar to me.

  • @eslomovits Sascha Radetsky

  • @keibranch Thanks!

  • @PIXIEGIRL12341 thats how you break in the pointe shoes so you can dance in them, other wise they would be too stiff to dance in

  • 4:32 :O

She plays Shelly in Hunger Point! :D I LOVE HER!

  • LOVE this movie. hopefully it opened people's eyes to the fact that ballet is no place for sissies. it is absolutely beautiful hard work and pain. as weird as it might sound, one of my favourite parts of the movie was watching them break in their pointe shoes, haha.

  • can u rele put ur pointe shoes in fire? or water? to break them in

  • @danceizmypassion umm, i think the fire was to melt the satin at the toe a bit to stop it from fraying. i run a flame over the end of my ribbons to stop them from fraying. water, im not sure. i thought that would just completely ruin the shoe. but most people just put them in the microwave and then wear them so they mould to the foot.

  • @jinpitakki33 oh i see thanks:)

  • I'll get IMPLANTS!

  • SANDY COHEN!!!!

  • Ha! The lady from the Star Trek movie! She falls in love with Picard. I'm really going to like this movie, I can tell. :D

  • ZOE SALDANA--AVATAR--MY LIFE

  • @iamapersonsodontsue oh no she was an extra.

  • My mom was in this movie!!!

  • @candygirl10161 SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?

  • @candygirl10161

    as who?!

  • @candygirl10161 who was ur mum playing in this movie and how do u get into movies

  • @zee814 My mom was just an add in at 00:37. She said that a man walked up too her in the city and asked her if she wanted to be in a movie

  • @candygirl10161 Where at ?

  • @Purplerluver17 Near the door?

  • @candygirl10161 :-O really what part did she play ??????

  • eric jones!!!!!!!!

  • at 6:55 why are they putting water on their point shoes!!!!!! NOOO!!!! don't they know that they're not supposed to. I know it's a movie and all but still.

  • @momo4895 Putting water on certain parts of the shoe will help it mold to the shape of the dancer's foot and make it easier to dance in. (I only did this when the shoes were new, though lol)

  • @agentwaterfowl My teacher told me you should only really put water on them if you barely got them so yes. but if you've had them for like 4 months then no, you shouldn't but these are professional dancers so they don't have the time to really break them in, so that's why they put water on them.

  • @momo4895 I'm surprised you haven't experienced that in your 13 years of ballet lol... my teacher herself told me to put water on my shoes to help them break in haha

  • @agentwaterfowl my teacher said since they're professionals they don't have the time to break them in so that's why they put water on them and, you should NEVER put water on them if you have the time to break them in like I do. I just put water in a kettle and put my pointe shoes over the steam.

  • @momo4895 I just put small amounts of water on them - I didn't soak them or anything - as soon as I got them, as per my teacher's directions, and then I broke them in by dancing. They seemed to do just fine.

  • @agentwaterfowl oh... good :) but up in my earlier thing when I said "no! they're not supposed to put water on their pointe shoes", I meant by soaking them. Like they did in the movie, but they did it because they where professionals. and they had no time to break them in.

  • I've been dancing Ballet for 13 years and I don't think it's competitive at all.

  • @FyreBalletDancer I think very few people watch this movie expecting realism, because its fiction and not a documentary. Sometimes people are looking for 'cheesy' its a way of escaping to another world; somewhat similar to reading a book. As for the idea that "nobody can work that hard and not love ballet to death" some people dont have the luxury of deciding to only work really hard at something that they love.

  • i really disliked this movie ... their image of the ballet world so soo untrue it's ridiculous. and Eva would've been kicked out in the first 5 minutes of her class in any ballet school. anyway, no ballet dancer has that attitude because nobody can work that hard and not love ballet to death, and they would never act like that ... really cheesy movie

  • "what are you doing?" "i'm knitting a sweater."

  • bastards?! o.O

    i can this isn't a disney movie

  • ballet isnt competitive its just dance.

  • @shaylefaerie Are you trying to start stuff? You're going to succeed...

  • @HilaryDuffLover2508 No one cares.

  • @HilaryDuffLover2508

Wow! I'm so impressed!! You are quite the bragger aren't you? :)

  • @HilaryDuffLover2508

No one really wants to hear you brag.

  • "Not enough turnout...bad feet."

    "But, look at her."

    Brilliant, really.

  • Every time I see this movie it makes me want to go back to dancing!!!! Dancing is my passion..I miss it..and wish I never would have quit...took for 4 years as a kid and then gave it up :(

  • @LMNGRL88 it's not too late to go back if it's your passion

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE this film, this is also when i fell n love with Zoe Saldaña as an actress

  • I recommend this film to all. Whether you love ballet or not. I am proud to own the DVD. This is an amazing movie.

  • I prefer City Ballet.

  • I'm not a dancer myself (rather, a competitive gymnast) but I really have respect for them. I think there are similarities between gymnastics and ballet so I understand partially what you go through -- endure the pain and make it look effortless. I love how the sports that people think are boring or girly are actually the ones that take extreme strength, dedication, practice, and determination.

Great movie too, thanks for uploading!

  • omg what they do to those ballet shoes o

    lol :-)

  • This movie is about dance! I hope you guy s don't kill me with comments but I hated the Black Swan. That movie did more to stop parents from letting girls train as dancer. I've met mean dancers and sick dancers but more often I've met incredible people who love to dance and SO DO I! I think center stage is more accurate in it's depiction.

  • 5:06 Homo alert...

  • How I miss the days of taped and wooled toes and beating pointe shoes!!! LoL

  • Haha I saw this at my step-moms and feell in love with it! =D

  • I watched this movie for the first time and I loved it. I hope to go the ballet someday, I cant imagine seeing it in person. Does anyone here know any prima ballerinas in real life? I never understood drive to be one but after watching this I can see why they'd be so special. But I find all the dancers to be beautiful and talented.

  • 6:07-7:06 = BEST

  • @timnelsonmusic lol you must be a dancer

  • ahhhhhhhh this movie is so 90's even though it was made in 2000. and I love me my corny ballet movies.

  • @daffodil977 Have you seen Ballet Shoes? It's really good.

  • @TheEsperanza243 What movie is that? is it new?

  • @Girlinthemirrorfan Not really. It came out 2007. Ballet Shoes is set in 1930's London. Let me give you IMDb's descrip: The story revolves around three growing orphaned girls; they struggle to fulfill her dreams: Pauline longs to be an actress, Petrova yearns to be an aviator, and Posy seems born to be a ballerina. But when their eccentric Glum disappears, the money runs out - and the girls have a fight on their hands.

  • lol 5:48 - 6:06 favorite part

  • jamiroquai - cosmic girl!!!!! i love that song!! and i watched the movie last night!! <3

  • When you saw the feet of the two girls going en releve, the girl on the left had an amazing winged foot!

  • I love this movie so much!

  • I made my dance class att collwgw watch this because they were moaning about the stress of jazz dance on their limbs!Ha! love this movie.xxx thanks for posting.x

  • why are they beating the ballet shoe? ..haa! :)

  • @Brollytwinturbo it's important to break in your pointe shoes so that the glue and material molds to your feet

  • i thought that if u put water on pointe shoes it causes discolouration ????

  • @nickjonaslurver1996 It can help it mould around your foot as it dries, meaning you can dance with more comfort :)

  • no argument here baby

  • big time bitch? biggest time, hahahah

  • lol.. the things those girls did to break their point shoes in.

  • Watching those girls in their pointe shoes is painful. The human foot was never meant to do that!

  • Amanda Schull aka Jody will be at the Golds Gym Westborough party December 17 at JJ's route 20 Northboro MA. Come on Down. but please No feet comments and One Tree Hill fans treat her with respect she's just an actress

  • Cooper is not cute. At all!

  • "you do NOT have the rack." "i'll get implants!" ^_^ <3 this movie

  • Out of curiosity when was this made?

  • @Broadwaylovercf It was released in 2000

  • i can't even tell you how many times i've watched this movie and i'm still not sick of it.

  • Not seen this yet but looking forward to it!

  • i just love this movie! :D x

  • This movie depicts my life...its kinda crazy how much i can relate to this.

  • i didnt relize how intese ballet is D:

  • @JockeyGirlLuvsHorses I'm glad that these movies show an almost-realistic image of the dance world. Knock out the romance and the cut-up-the-costumes thing, though.

  • @AriaInTheSky all the things you see the girls doing to their toe shoes is really done.

  • @sdcow Well, obviously, captain obvious.

  • @AriaInTheSky don't need insults. so keep the snide remarks to yourself. but if you want i'll keep slinging mud back and forth with you.

  • @sdcow I'm not insulting anyone. You're only making it worse than it already is. If you don't want a war, don't reply.

  • @AriaInTheSky i think referring to me as "captain obvious" is a slight. you know nothing about me. i spent 69-70-71 in the army during Viet Nam, 28 years in law enforcement rolling with creeps, at the WTC on 9-11 where i buried 3 of my brother officers. in my comments on yt i have never chided or dissed anyone. war? i've enough crap in my life. i'm not looking for enemies anymore, just friends. take care of yourself my friend.

  • @sdcow We've all had enough crap in our lives. You know nothing about me either. I'd rather not have enemies either, but some people just won't consent.

  • @sdcow I'm sorry you've gone through all that. Nobody should have to endure that level of tragedy. {{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

  • This makes me miss ballet and jazz. :/

  • This movie makes me miss ballet :( I loved Pointe! And I was Giselle my senior year of hs!

  • I can't figure out what Eva is so pissy about in this scene. They're trying way too hard to establish her character as someone who thinks independently.

  • HOLY HECK THEYRE ARE A LOT OF HOT GUYS IN THIS MOVCUE

  • thanks for uploading !good movie! :)

  • i used to dance ballet for 5 years but i stopped when i was 8 because i couldn't handle the mean teacher. i'm 16 now and i still regret my decision ..

  • charlie is my favourite!!!!!!! <3 heheheh. but this movie is amazing. that you so much for uploading it!

  • I totally feel for the main girl about her parents not wanting her to do it - mine would have been the same way if I'd made it that far.

  • omg those tall girls have sticks for legs.

  • Does anyone know if Zoe Saldana was really dancing in this movie? I always thought she was, but I don't remember reading anywhere that she had ballet training. TIA.

  • @weewee112211 oh yes, she was a classically trained ballet...she danced for 10+ years

  • @thesecret14 Thanks for the info!

  • @weewee112211. She has some training, but not as much as the pros. She does some of her own dancing, but not during the intense scenes like the recital at the end.

  • @powellpicc1985 amanda schull spent 6 years with the san francisco ballet. in 2006 she left to pursue a career in acting. among her appearances are the tv shows Bones, Lie to Me, Ghost Whisperer and Cold Case.

  • @powellpicc1985 Thanks!

  • @weewee112211 Zoe has had ballet training , but her ballet doble like the final performance was aisha ash.

  • oh, really? Gosh, I'm so sorry. I live in America, I guess the physical demands are different in every country. However, most if not all ballet schools in America strongly campaign weighing a healthy weight rather than being super skinny; there were a lot of deaths in ballet companies with anorexia being the underlying cause. My best wishes to her :)

  • its sandy cohen!!

  • wut r they doing to their shoes o.o" ?

  • @ToxicKleanex

When you first buy dance shoes, they're really hard and inflexible. This is true for all dance shows, not just ballet. But it's most true for ballet shoes, they don't bend at all when you first get them. Sooooo, you have to bang them and knock them around a bit so they can bend with your feet. If not you can really hurt yourself.

  • @melodramatic7904 Also say, that your feet should also be strong enough, and not let the pointe shoes do all the hard work!

  • omg thnx for uploading thin again thnx aloot

  • omg mazing thnx for uploading this again thnz soo much

  • Dancers wet their shoes to mold them to their feet better. They also break in easier when they're wet. If you want a really good way to break in your shoes, take them into the bathroom with you when you shower (but don't take them in the shower). The steam makes them extremely pliable, so they'll be easiest to break in. I've done it and I works AMAZINGLY!!!

  • Ballerinas don't have to be skinny (I dance in a professional company). You are MUCH better off weighing a healthy weight, as you need very high physical strength for ballet. Being rail thin decreases your amount of strength, and it makes you very fragile. In fact, a girl I dance with wants to be a professional, and she recently got VERY thin (we all think she's anorexic). She used to be amazing, but now she doesn't have as much strength and her body is breaking down. She isn't good anymore. :(

  • @Funtabulosity329 well in the australian ballet they are kicked out f they arent skinny enough, my sister is in it and all she eats for a whole day are a handful of strawberries and a glass of skim milk.

  • those boys scare me O.o

  • ughh ballerinas are so freaking skinny soo jealous right now !

  • how did it help u loose weight?

  • i dont get why the girl wet her pointe shoes

  • @mydance97 To break them in. Soften them, so she could customize them for her feet.

  • why do some of the dancers wet their shoes??????

  • @dance4fun94 to soften them and mold them to their feet better. I'm not a dancer but I can only imagine that what happens from wetting them.

  • 5:01 thats they guy that played Tito on the Jacksons: An American Dream oh he looked so damn cute then now he's looks okay to me :)

  • LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!

  • okay I understand beating the shoes but why are they burning them, wetting them, ripping the insole out etc?

  • Zoe Saldana is so sexy.

  • y do they hit their shoes and squish them?!

    lol

    :)

  • @Roxychic1980 It makes them softer and quieter.. Thus making them easier to dance in.

  • @LiveAndBreatheBallet

    ohhhh!

lemme guess u are a ballerina?

    :)

  • @Roxychic1980 Haha how did you know? ;)

  • @LiveAndBreatheBallet

    lol!

how long u been doin ballet?

    i wanna do ballet!

    :)

  • @Roxychic1980 Haha I've been dancing for about 14 years so a really long time! I love it so much. It's so hard but so much fun.

  • my all time favorite movie, it influenced to not give up on my ballet dreams

  • THANKYOU!!!!!!
