"We aren't living in the 1980's anymore" Boy...how very VERY true! :) Rejoice! teens of the new millennium! :) The 80's & 90's were a total bitch for people that grew up during that time....and unfortunately, for those that made it through it all, it continues to impact some ppl to this day....myself included. Its not meant to be perverted or sexual at all....but some of the ppl I admire the most are 2days teens/young adults. U R changing the world 4 the better. Keep up the gr8 work!

And as Bobby Griffiths' (Prayers for Bobby) "Once Upon a Time" lover, I too have been trying to draw distinctions between those times and today! And you're "Spot On", this generation is amazing! ....and much like Jake, coming from a small conservative town increases the complications tenfold! Even today I'd have to say it still seems much more difficult in smaller or more conservative areas. Those same areas in the 80s/90s? Just awful! Ironic you mention "Prayers For Bobby". I recently re-watched that from Netflix.

I live not 12 miles from Walnut Creek, where Bobby Griffith and I grew up! And even as a suburb of "The Emerald City"(San Francisco) during the 1980's and 1990's it could have been "Any Town USA" for it's conservative leanings! That's why it's so amazing to walk through "Broadway Plaza" these days, it's main shopping district! One might see any number of gay couples pushing their darling new "Gaybies" in a stroller, like any family! Things have definitely changed!

A big shout out to your parents and how beyond helpful they were to you. My parents are similar in that they gave me the physical resources I needed to see guys that I were dating who may have been far away. Definitely helped me through my growing process.
