I was there...I was 16 y/o...we were all preparing for another LOOONG multiple OT night...it was over in 30 seconds. Everyone was SOOO surprised and elated when Langway scored.
These were the playoffs where John Druce was that year's example of unexpected Ranger killer. Ranger won the first game easy at home, and Bernie Nicholls had a hat trick. I was at that game. Then they lose 4 in a row, with the final 2 in OT. I think Druce scored 6 goals in that series. Fucking Rangers.
Awesome. I was there as well.... The will call window lost my tickets and I was in row XXX... Not a great view - but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

The badass goal siren still survives to this day (at the phone booth) and perhaps will toll for a Caps Stanley Cup.

The only game I got to see at the old Cap Centre was 12/88 when Philly came in. Caps won that night 3-2. Constant chants of "Hex-tall"

One of the reasons why Rod Langway is a Hall of Fame Defender
FRSFreeState 1 year ago
Rod Langway was a great Defender and not known for scoring but he could chip in when it wasn't expected

@FrsBigeasy and Langway was one of the last guys to NOT wear a helmet
DukeofColumbia 1 year ago
@DukeofColumbia He was grandfathered out of the new helmet rule

IRONY:
#3 was Scott Stevens who later went to NJ. He then wore number 4 there. Both numbers are retired by the Devils (#3 was Ken Daneyko)
